My friend got my into them about 3 years ago. He asked me if I have ever heard the song "Pizza Day" and I said no. So later I checked'em out and bought a CD and loved it. It was hilarious. The first song I heard was Pizza Day and I saw them in 2005. They put on a really fun show! I met Crash afterwards.

Back in the '90's when it wasn't illegal to download songs from Napster, I just so happen to come across a song called "Ska Robot Army." It was GLORIOUS! That one song lead me to go out in search of that wonderful album, "The Return of the Aquabats" and from that moment on, I fell in love with those zany super heroes, The Aquabats. Shortly there afterwards, I became a cadet----and lost my membership card and tried again in 2000-something....but then they had this new fangled website and I didn't figure out how to put my picture on the card so it has the generic cadet on it. ;______;


I've only had one very special concert right after their most recent album was released in 2005...

and THIS is it's story.

Before the show: I have wanted to see the Aquabat's perform since I was in Middle School and I never thought I would have the chance as they primarily toured ze west coast. One day, I was talking to a buddy and I had discovered The Aquabats were going to be in a town about a 3 hour drive away. Sadly, at this time, my heart was broken as I decided I could never get off work. Fortunately, due to a scheduling conflict, I was told that I must take that date off! Was this fate? Surely it must have been!! I gladly took the opportunity and bought tickets as soon as I could. It was so totally killer-cool.

At the Show: At first, my friends and I were able to mosey up to the front before the band started, but there was a ginormous kid with a fro standing right in the way. It was so sad! I thought I would be stuck behind the sweaty behemoth for the entire show! However, the fairies that make dreams come true must have showered the boy with fatigue and he soon left his post (which he had been standing at for the entire pre-show entertainment). My heart lept and the open spot sparkled with dazzling sparklyness! I quickly lept to it and my heart pounded with excitement as I could touch the stage! I had landed the front stage position and things only got better from there! I cannot describe the feelings I felt as the band came on stage. Crash McLarson, who I've always found a bit intimidating, caught my enamored gaze and flashed a smile at me. My heart lept as I actually made Crash smile--OMG!

The performance was friggin awsome! I wish I could describe everything but for the sake of my dear readers, I shall not elaborate as the post would dreadfully long (as if this one isn't going to be long enough)! I screamed as loud as I could to the lyrics of every song I knew (There were only 3-4 that I didn't know so as well from their new album) and the M.C. Bat Commander even sung in my face and let me sing into his mic a few times--and even scored a couple double handed high fives! I about died! My heart was pounding so fast and I was so hot and sweaty that I had to lip sync the rest of the songs because if I sang anymore I would have surely fainted with happyness overkill. I totally got my swoon on as the Bat Commander pointed at me and sang the same lyrics of "Red Sweater" that a certain Captain/Dr./Professor J had written to me on Valentine's day 5 years ago (my bf since highschool). The show was bloody brilliant and I must say that it was quite the awsome experience....and by awsome I mean serious awsomeness.

How you got into them?

Browsing the CD rack in 1998, I saw a CD with superheroes on the cover. Had to buy it. My buddy had put one of their songs on a mix CD for me earlier that year and I recognized them from it. Fury of the Aquabats was a huge turning point in my life. When I discovered their ties to Blink 182 and Reel Big Fish I was completely hooked forever. My fate is sealed.

Your first Aquabats show?

Never saw live but I love the DVD. ("Looks like toxic waste. Smells like toxic waste. Taste like toxic waste" God bless you Crash)

First Aquabats song?

Bumblebee Tuna was the first and fave but, for years, my alias in most places was "SuperRad", even in the military people called me by that.

Yeah right, I wish. $=0

How you got into them?

Thanks to the band Gorillaz, I bought some magazine at Hot Topic because they were on the cover. It came with a Nitro Records sampler CD and Fashion Zombies! was on it. I thought it was the best song on there. So that's what happened.
