Sir Oscar the Bold Captain
|
Posted: Mon May 28, 2007 3:47 pm
*Sir Oscar enters the Dining hall with a large, steaming pot of fresh stew in his paws. He sets it on the table, sits down, pours a mug of tea, and ladles himself a big bowl of stew. Tearing off a chunk of bread, he sets to work on his meal with great appetite.*
The Teds had best get here soon if they want dinner fresh and hot! smile

*sniffing, sniffing, sniffing...looks at Sir Oscar's bowl of stew, closes his eyes, and gives a big bear-y sigh.* Just what I was looking for! May I join you, Sir Oscar? I heard that the provisions at your estate were excellent, and I can see that it was no exageration! I understand you plan the menus and cook. What a gift!*scoots his furry body onto a bench opposite Sir Oscar where there is an empty place setting.* I'm going to start with some of your stew (what a good idea to dunk bread in it!) and move on to the other goodies from there.*tucks a napkin into his tabard to try to keep it clean.*

Mm! xd Oscar's cooking is always excellent!*Sits down with a plop next to Oscar, tears off a hunk of bread, crumbles it into his bowl and ladles stew over it generously.* We'll have no thin teds here so long as we have fare such as this to cram into our bellies! lol

I'm glad to hear that, Furamir. A thin Ted would be a very sad sight and not at all what children need for hugging. Although, I must say, I have encountered Teds who had been hugged into thin-ness. They definitely need to spend some time here at the estate.*heaves a big satisfied sigh and pats his tummy* Now, I think I have room for some peach pie...*pulls an entire pie to his place* ...and maybe just one apple pie...*pulls an apple pie over, too* After all, Sir Oscar, we want your helpers in the kitchen to know how much we appreciate their efforts. I'd be happy to share with you and Furamir unless you'd like pies of your own. I do see some farther down the table. Pardon me if I tuck in. The food fights around here are legendary, and I hope to get some of this delicious pie inside me while the dining is still civilized.*picks up the peach pie pan with both paws and sticks his nose in to break the crust. Licks his nose and begins to snarf up pie in earnest.*

Good evening, Teds! Thank goodness I got here before you three ate all the pie. I've been looking forward to peach pie in particular.*sniffs the empty pan in front of Adam* It looks like I'd better bring some more pies from the other end of the table. I'll slide them down if you gentlebears will keep them from going too far.*waddles down to the far end of the table and begins sliding pies--two each--in the direction of Sir Oscar, Furamir, and Adam (who looks like he is ready for seconds)* Two! Four! Six! Eight! Apple pie is really great!

Mmm. I'm for seconds of stew right now! smile *Crumbles more bread into his bowl and ladles in another big helping of stew with extra gravy* It's June now, Oscar--are you going to change the menu this month? I could eat this stew for the rest of my life most happily, mind--it's just you looked as though you meant to change it sometimes.

Yes, Furamir, you're quite right. I was neglecting that. I have a new menu posted, but I think it will please you. *Accepts a large slice of apple pie*

Hm! I shall anticipate discovering what new feasts you have for us, Oscar! biggrin Meanwhile, I think I shall walk this repast down out on the grounds. I will see you here on the morrow! smile *Departs patting his stew-filled tummy*

Here comes the new dinner repast for June! smile
*Brings platters of fresh baked salmon and chicken into the Dining Hall and places them on the table. The scent of the dishes fills the room.*

How good to see you, sir! I think you will enjoy Oscar's cooking. smile I have to dash--Eirwyn is taking an Algebra test today, and I must prepare her backpack so she can study a little. She doesn't like to cram Math very much because the mass of numbers just confuse her. She's concentrating on being rested, relaxed, comfortably-fed and alert.*Plucks a hunk of bread off the table and stuffs it in his mouth as he hurries out of the room*

redface My apologies, Furamir. I have been very busy helping Eirwyn with adjustments to school and had not given thought to a new menu for some time. I did not think teds would mind eating fish or sandwiches, but indeed, I should give thought to more winter-like fare. I will try to have a new menu soon.

Ah, I had some tidbits over in the main hall, but I think I could manage a ladylike portion of....EVERYTHING! What a delicious crust on this chicken pan pie! I think I might just manage another portion, ladylike of course.
*excavates a heaping scoop-ful of pie*
Miradora and her mother made pot roast and lemon meringue pie for her father's 85th birthday on Saturday. Fortunately, I was able to take advantage of some leftovers. Her family likes to talk about recipes and future possible menus almost as much as teds do! I'll have to add some goodies for us to savor in the recipe thread...but in the meantime, I think I might just lick this apple pie pan!
