I'm not sure if there is an actual title for this kind of anime, but I prefer ones with dark plots and violence that is relevant to the story. Usually stuff that would probably be classified as Horror.
Good examples are Hellsing, Berserk, Vampire Hunter D and Deathnote.
Are there any other good anime/manga that are along these lines? I'm interested in finding other titles.

neh berserk ins't scary. its so gory to thepoint as to be silly sometimes but hellsing is scary if so i haven't noticed?
Blue Gender is both fairly freaky and groy plus its reallly good.
Wolf rein so one episode of it and it nearly Scared me to death.
but hmmm Elfen lied maybe
Soul Taker is one of the few animes that i would actually classify as Dark its basically a sinister and sadistict version of Fl Cl
Battle Angel Altia and batle Angel Altia : Lost Order are both pretty gorry but i'm not so sure if they are scary.
The First Volume of Threads of Time is kinda freaky.
Hmm The new one anime Darker than Black i suppose its kinda freaky but not really
Hmm Lone Wolf and Cub is pretty gory
Paronia Agent was pretty freaky
Blood+ i suppose that one could be kinda scary but it doesn't really scare me much.
i Think b*****d! is gory but i've never really gotten a chance to read it.
In Basilisk some one dies in just about ever episode.
hmmmmmm Samurai X is pretty bloody.
Akira is a pretty freaky movie.
Ninja Scroll ( or at lest the few episodes of it i saw) was pretty damn scary and slightly disturbing in parts
ghost in hte Shell .... not really freaky but gory.
hmmm i can't reallly think of any others that are like that but i can thikn of a whole lot of good ones.

I wasn't looking for any scary stuff. Berserk isn't scary. The Horror label the businesses around here use is because of the demons depicted and the darker plot to the story.
I'll have to look up a lot of the ones you mentioned, I haven't heard of quite a few. Thanks for the list I really appreciate it.
