I don't know what's up with me. I'm not a prude by any stretch of the imagination, but as far as swears go I can NOT say the C word. The one with 4 letters.

I just cringe every time I hear it. It's the only one.

I don't mind racial slurs at all, and I'll often spew out quite a few of them at any given time just for the sake of doing so. I'll spare you all my foul language, but I'm sure you get the idea of what I can start saying. Especially those of you that know me xp

Now, I know what makes people not like racial slurs that much, lets leave those out of the convo for now. What is it that really makes us not like OTHER words. I mean, the C word is just a word. But damn, I cannot drop the C Bomb if my life depended on it.

On another slightly unrelated but wordy note, I also can not lie if someone says "Swear to God".
Weird.

i've become less sensitive to swear words recently

but i have a huge problem with trying to imitate an austrian accent

it's so embarrassing, other austrians often ask me to do it but i just can't get myself to!!!

I don't use racial slurs, but I generally don't have a problem with any other profanity. I don't normally add them to my daily conversations, especially not when I'm anywhere around work, but yeah. Generally the only time I swear is if I'm using it to emphasize (poor choice of emphasis words I know), like "omg that f'ing thing was huge", or if I'm really really angry.

I used to not be able to say the c word. There's just something about it that's a lot harsher than any other word.

And even though I've become slightly desensitized to it, I still only use it when I'm really, really, really, really upset.

DA N WORD

iunno why

I'm Mexican, I could get away with it, in all technicalities (if I acted latino gangsta)

But I can't.

C word, I've never said I think. Iunno. Not my style.

Perhaps any bilingual or multilingual UFGer will probably share my point of view or not but there it is. Although I cuss in both English and French (read Québécois as it's totally different from France), I do think the English cuss are milder than the French ones. Especially knowing that the french word for Seal is pronouced exactly the same as ******** perhaps it's because French is my native tongue that the cussing sounds harsher because I do instinctly know the meaning of the word. But, I do say that in either language, c**t and Plotte are both frown upon.

Swearing in a native tongue does tend to sound a bit more harsh than swearing in a secondary language. Though, it still seems like some languages use them more liberally so they have less of an impact.

Personally, I don't think there is anything I can't or won't say. Though, I try not to lie if I have nothing to immediately gain from it. And I won't tell someone I love them if I don't believe it at least a little.

I say damn and hell a LOT, and s**t and ******** very rarely -- and when I do, it's always typed. I can't remember the last time I've said one of those out loud. I'm not a big cusser, and I never have been. I'm not as bad as the girl in our class who says "Gosh Darnit," though, even when she's reading from a script. sweatdrop

I'm bad at apologizing, and I can never say how I feel about something when I'm upset. I don't say a word, which usually makes things worse.

c**t! pirate

Mostly I refrain from racial stuff, too much argument over them and what not, and I'm too white to ever make a good one. And white trash and redneck aren't swear words so far as I know. Though I'll mention my own body parts as much as I make mention of some other cocksucker's.

i don't like to use certain racial slurs, but if i'm singing along (for example) with something that uses them, i have no qualms. maybe not in front of someone who is of the race being derogated, i also have no interest in getting my a** kicked, but by myself? sure.

and as for c**t, i don't say it much - haven't got much need - but i find it goes down easier if you stick it together with another word. cuntface, for example. i still can't see a situation where i'd really need to use it and another swear word wouldn't be just as good, but i like the ring of it as a two-syllable word.

Mostly I got in the habit when some of my co-workers were talking about The Departed, and the dudes all of a sudden hushed up while quoting Jack Nicholson.

This was at Nintendo, where 90% of the game testers are college-age males. I and one of the few other female co-workers are the kind to be "one of the guys" in group settings, so we had fun saying the word with emphasis. xd

c**t never seems to have the same weight as other words in my mind. ******** ends up so much more versatile and has so much more emphasis that c**t just gets overshadowed by it. It just has no punch.

Even s**t seems to have a nice adaptability to couple with other words. "Shithead" "s**t kicker" "s**t-for-brains". "Cuntface" is the only one I've ever heard, and it seems a bit comical to me.

I tend to just prefer saying other words, so I end up not using c**t.

I gotta get this outta my system: TWATWAFFLE.

Okay anyway. I love cursing in German. Even though I forgot most of 'em except the common ones that everyone knows anyway -- scheiss, namely. Haha. I should go look up more German swears. cool

I'm kinda fond of "cuntmonger," myself.

... my mom was really mad at our neihgbor once and I heard her call him a "d***o-head." That's a new one. o.O
