The Forgotten Race
Call Me Kit



A girl stepped out of a portal who was about 7 or so on a busy sidewalk, the portal closed instantly before any one could see it no one paid any heed to the girl and so she began to wander around having no Idea where she was or who she was or where she had come from.

The people selling stuff shouted the prices of their stuff at the people walking by each trying to out shout the other so the streets were really noise and every one seemed vary busy and the girl was to shy to ask any one so she kept wandering around until she came to the more expensive house where it was quieter and less busy.

The girl looked around admiring the houses two kid out in the front lawn pointed at her and called hello but she did not reply lost in thoughts before long she came to the end of the street and had to turn there at the last house on that street she walked

By the kids were talking in whispers but the girl still heard them “ weird looking girl…. wonder if she from out of town…” the boy whispered, “ Shh.She might hear us…. I wonder what her name is….” The girl whispered back “we could ask” the boy whispered again “don’t be silly mother said we were to get the ice-cream and come straight home and not to talk to strange people” the girl hissed as they walked away suddenly the girl thought about what they had said was she from out of town? What was her name? Where was she?


But soon she put those questions out of her mind as a boy ran by her about her age and a pack of men close behind him calling him names the boy was wearing a black Tee shirt and jeans with a shoulder pack she didn’t see his face though but she noted that the men called after him “thief!!!” She didn’t wait she ran after him unconscientiously throwing down and jumping the jump rope she had picked up on the ground…the men tripped and the rest had to help the men up before they could go on by that time both girl and boy had vanished with out a trace.



From where the girl sat four blocks down on the sidewalk she could see the boy a bit better he had on a mask a small red scarf that covered his mouth his hair was red and he wore gloves and was bare foot the rest of his clothes were normal

“ Why did you do that?” the boy asked cutting into the silence the girl shrugged she did not know “who are you any way?” he asked looking at her seeing her short red hair, black shirt with bracers and jeans she was wearing “ are…you…. one like me?” he asked the girl again shrugged “ I don’t know” she said quietly. “You don’t?” he asked with a confused face “no, I don’t” the girl said firmly “ oh.” The boy said faintly then looked at the ground as if he was thinking.

“ Do you have some place to stay?” the boy asked looking at her after a few moments “no.” the girl replied feeling stupid “ I do…” the boy said and trailed off “ its big we could share you know…want to come?” he asked looking hope full “sure if you want me too” the girl replied “okay” the boy said and stood up and took off running the girl close behind.

For one with no shoes on most people would think twice about jumping piles of glass climbing fences walking in alleyways running crossed a street-- not this boy he seemed to have wings he did things fast, quick, and made it look easy several time he had to stop and wait for the girl to catch up soon with the girl panting heavily and the boy barely of breath he walked into the lower part of town past two rows of apartments and grabbed the ladder for the fire escape and motioned for her to follow him on the last level before the roof he opened a window and slipped in beckoning for the girl to come in too.

“ Hey guys, I’m Home!” he called out bringing four heads out of different rooms “who’s she?” asked a tall girl about 18 with short brown hair and jeans and a tee shirt
Pointing to the girl “ I’m called kit” the girl said softly “Hi kit.” Every one said and walked into the Living room/kitchen “ I’m, tom” said a boy about 18 looking almost like the tall girl with short brown hair and jeans and a sweat shirt “that’s Samantha” tom said pointing to the girl who had spoken first “ and that’s Alex” he said pointing to a about 20 year old with spiky short blonde hair that was wearing a brown shirt with green splotches on it like camo and green pants Alex raised his hand as if saying “hi” with out really saying anything “ and….” tom continued “ that’s –“ the girl tom was pointing to and was about to name broke in “ I’m Ninja.” Ninja was wearing all black her hair witch was in a pony tail was blonde/brownish she had on a face veil and a mask that did not show her eyes her knee high boots she was wearing fit her like if they were her skin. “Nice too meet you all” kit said feeling vary small before she turned back to the boy who had brought her in her “you never told me your name….” She began the boy blushed and smiled “ I’m Jake” Jake said, “ I’m seven.” He beamed as if being seven made you like a god “I help tom with his job” before kit could ask what Tom’s job was Ninja cut in “do you have any parents?” she asked kit shook her head “not that I know of…” kit said sadly “Ninja she has nowhere to go.” Jake began “can she stay here with us? PLEASE?” ninja looked down at kit and Jake “ that’s not for me alone to decide you will have to ask the others” ninja said firmly before turning and walking away “ don’t worry kit” Jake said cheerfully “they’ll let you stay. I know they will.” Jake turned to her and took her hand “come on, I’ll show you my room!” as they ran off to jakes room Alex shook his head and firmly said “no way, this girl is not to live here” Tom looked at him “why not? She’s only about the same age as Jake….” Ninja snorted and paused in the doorway of her room “ she is not, she just looks like it, we are way older then what we seem to be even Jake is not the same age as we thought, Tom you saw the way he works.”
Samantha nodded “ I say we take a vote on this” Alex looked at her with a raised eye brow “ so if we put our hands in the air and say yes or no it decides the fate of our plan? Are you crazy?” Samantha rolled her eyes “well we could ask Song….” Tom gasped, “ Are you going mad?” Ninja again snorted and Alex nodded “ I think asking Song would be a good idea…. but in till then why don’t we think about something…what if this girl is a spy?” Ninja shook her head “ first the girl is not from here…. two she has no evil in her…three I don’t think she knows anything about the plan” Alex frowned “ but…. she might learn and tell the wrong person….” He said trailing off the sentence every one was quiet for a moment before Ninja said quietly “ then I guess after a few week we shall have to tell her…. Let her have a chance to get used to us first and at the end of that time we can either let her in on the secret or let her figure it out her self.” Alex nodded to this plan and Tom and Samantha nodded to Ninja smiled “ okay then that’s the plan…now lets go back to doing what ever we where doing before Jake got home.” Samantha went and began to fix dinner Tom took out the trash and Alex went back to fixing the computer. And Ninja went into her room and began to read her book

Chapter three,
Trouble.


Kit was about to just push her plate away when the window in the kitchen opened on it own and a girl with short spiky blond hair wearing a gunner out fit slid in. Jake instantly got up and walked around to kit and pulled her out of the seat and nearly dragged back into his room “that” he said sneezing “bless you” kit said “thank you- any way that was-”
He was cut off for the door creaked for the girl leaning against it “Jake.” She said he swallowed Kit was about to ask something when Alex appeared in the door way and motioned kit out of the room Jake stared to follow but the girl stopped him by grabbing his ear he wiggled and twisted but could not move Alex took kits hand and led her into the computer room “I need some help” he said and set a bunch of disks on the ground in stacks then set cases for them down “can you read?” Kit nodded “good” Alex said “then take the disks for games and set them in one stack and thing to help run the computer in another if you have any questions ask me.” Kit nodded and did as he asked wondering what was happing to Jake so much did not realize that Alex had spoken more then a few words


Mean while the girl was staring at Jake with a hard glare as he whither in agony from her hand on his ear “let go!” he growled the girl lifted her eyebrows “after you be polite and promises not to run.” She said her voice firm and commanding “please let go of my ear and I won’t run”
He mumbled she did so and grabbed his arm and set him on the bed and sat in the chair by the desk


“What did I do this time?” he asked rubbing his ear “one, this” she said unrolling the newspaper and his picture was on the front page with the headline “child mange’s to rob the south rye bank” he looked at his feet “two all the glass you broke. Three, this child you have brought here…what’s her name? Kit or what ever?” Jake nodded and the lady reached out and grabbed his hand “what the hell were you thinking?” she hissed He shrugged “I don’t know….” She grabbed his chin and looked into his eyes and shoved him away after a minute and he fell on the ground groaning.

“You weren’t. Leaf and star what am I to do with you?” she asked then picked him up under his arms and dumped him on the bed he looked up at her confused a she was just above him by a few inches “what-?” he was once again cut off this time by her kissing him his eyes went wide and he jerked away “ew what the heck!” he said wiping his mouth she did not reply and got up and shut the door and locked it he sat up and looked at her “what are you doing?” he asked frightened now “just what I need to do to you.” She said

And pulled out a whip he opened his mouth about to scream when she kissed him again and shoved him down pinning him with one hand, kissing him and undoing his pants buckle with the other hand when she let up from kissing him all he could do was gasp for air “flip over.” She said he did not but she managed to make him any way
And pinned him down shoving the blanket into his mouth and shoving his face into a pillow making it so he could breath but not make a sound “even think about making a noise or moving ” she hissed “and the whip is harder on you” she said “got it?” he nodded “good.”

She pulled down his boxers and pushed up his shirt revealing his smooth back for an instant she wanted to do something else with him then remembered he was only 7 and all the pain he had cause her and the whip was brought down on his back he jerked the bloodily spray was halted in the air and the whip was brought down again he again jerked this time whimpering once again the blood was halted before it could go any where and the whip for a third time was brought down on jakes back he moaned into his pillow and the lady stopped wiped the blood off her whip put it away

Using her magic she took all the blood and put it in the plants planter where the dirt sucked it up by the time she had turned around jakes back was healed and he was fastening his pants up and glaring at her she kissed him on the cheek and drew away “it had to be done.” She said Jake clenched his fist and unlocked the door and stormed away hoping out on to the fire escape and sitting in the ally way hidden behind the dumpsters and cried

Jake awoke to he smell of bacon and every one stare’s he yawned and looked at them confused “what?” he asked then looked around and yawned “where’s kit?” He added, “cooking” Samantha “did you forget?” Alex asked “were you to busy being tired?” added tom “Or just plain lazy?” ninja asked

Jake rolled his eyes and pulled the covers over his head “ go away” he mumbled Alex and Tom exchanged glances and ninja lifted her eye brows and Samantha just sighed and went to go help Kit cook the bacon

“He forgot!” Alex and tom said at the same time “that or he’s being devious and has something up his sleeve…” ninja said “GO away!!” Jake nearly shouted and kicked Alex and tom off the bed “ow!” they said and went out of the room “grumpy head!” Tom said poking his head back in then walking away

Ninja pulled back the covers form jakes head and laid her hand on his head and drew it away almost instantly “ALEX!” she shouted he came running back in “yes?” he asked “feel his forehead” she said he went to do it but did not get that far for Jake got up pushed him out of the way, and ran out of the room into the kitchen past kit and Samantha snatching a piece of bacon off his own plate and rushing out of the apartment and down the fire escape and ran up the streets all the way to the park and stopped flopped down did about 25 push ups then ran all the way back but stopping here and there a got some flowers then ran on and met Alex about quarter way home


“Yo!” he said hiding the flowers he had brought “Jake!” Alex said, “Do you know what kind of worry you give us?” Jake grinned “lots! Race you!” he ran and jumped flying over the incoming car with amazing speed and Alex groaned and followed at a slower pace not even trying to race the energy beam


Jake reached home and pulled a vase and stuck the flowers in it and filled it with water and set it on the table then sat down in the kitchen and ate the bacon on his plate with every one but Alex that came in a few minutes later shaking his head at Jake Kit thought this was all vary funny and giggled “what did Jake forget to day?” she asked having heard the conversation


“Umm.” they said looking slightly perplexed of what to say “he…he…forgot…that his friend was coming over!” Tom quickly supplied “yeah….” Alex said Kit looked at Ninja and Samantha that were slightly sweating “Really? Wow! I hope he does not mind that Jakes my friend…” she said completely innocent of the adults fear of tripping over a word Jake looked at kit his eyes dancing HE DID realize the grownups fear and he smiled at her.

“I sure he would not mind I mean he’s too old too be jealous of you…He might even like you!” Jake paused for a breath “He’s my teacher but he’s really boring.” He nodded “Oh.” Kit said looking at him with an interested smiled “I would like to taught!” she said Jake giggled, “I bet you would, but Ninja will have to see where you are first” he made a face “aw.” Kit said the looked at ninja “can I?” she asked every one then looked at Ninja who did not do anything but raise an eyebrow “why not?” she asked “Can’t harm you.” Kit’s eyes lit up “after breakfast?” Kit asked excitedly ninja shook her head “I got a Job and you need to wash up.” Kits face fell and Ninja winced visibly “but if you hurry I can do some test then with you then have Samantha take over”

Kit brightened up and quickly took every ones plate in to the kitchen and loaded the dishwasher with Jakes help.

Before suddenly Jake turned green and ran to the sink and threw up his recently eaten bacon “Are you okay?” Kit asked he managed to shake his head before throwing up again before washing the vomit down the sink and rinsing off his face “ug….” Alex put his hand on his forehead and frowned “Jake you have a fever!” Jake shrugged before walking out of the kitchen and down the hall


Samantha and Tom looked at him from the computer room “ you know.” said Samantha “its rather convenient that” Tom finished for her “you get sick the day Song is supposed to visit” they both looked at him then frowned Jake was paler then usual and had drooping eye lids and his expression was pained

But, before they could do anything Kit came running up and did it for them. Nearly sweeping him off his feet as she dragged him into his room and tucked him into bed pulled up the chair and set in it a box of tissues, a large drink of water, a stack of books out of the book case and set a trash can by the side of the bed. Before fluffing his pillows then put a few one person games in easy reach including a drawing pad and colored pencils and crayons. Then smiled at him “do want the window open?” she asked and Jake weakly said “yes please” his head hurt too much nod “Okay!” kit said and did so before Samantha came in and took Jakes temperature and wrote it down in her note book before giving him some aspirin and getting kit out of the room with ninja wants to give you the test hint then looked at Jake “songs seeing you any way buster and your going to keep your head down and keep your mouth shut.”
“I know, I know…” Jake groaned and fell a sleep.
