I am a huge fan of Crimson Spell, Welcome to Chem Lab, Bokusatsu Tenshi, Hayate the Combat Butler, MariMite, and Yami to Boshi to Hon no Tabibito - to name a few.

Il Gatto Sul G is pretty obscure, yeah? not an anime, but the thread title says manga too XD i love this series~ oh, another great one-- Hands Off! that series is definitely something worth checking out 3nodding hmmm... most of the shonen-ai/yaoi stuff i've read from you is pretty obscure, i believe... Only the Ring Finger Knows, for example. not many people have heard of it. Our Kingdom, too. let's see.... Time Lag, Princess Princess (how come the spanish dubbed the anime but we didnt? that's just stupid!)... The Art of Loving xd

Yeah - yaoi manga is pretty obscure; that's why I only listed the ones that are also obscure to yaoi fans; otherwise it would have gone on for quite some time.e

in my own defense, Hands Off! isnt yaoi... not that there isnt an adorable yaoi pairing IN it that i dont care what anybody says is there, but y'know. as for non-yaoi obscure series... now that i think about it, Kikaider is pretty obscure, dont you think? but that may just be because its an older series. but it still rocks!! heart

Yeah - a lot of older stuff is only appreciated by the non-otaku (people who hate anything that's came out in the past ten years) - like the old movie critics; the kind of people who liked Akira; they probably would like Kikaider... although I've heard its popular in Hawaii O_o
But normally, most things that came out pre-1990; if it wasn't Gundam or Miyazaki - nobody really seems to care to look into it.

i can understand a lot of people NOT liking kikaider, though... its a depressing mecha version of pinnochio. i mean really, the last lines of the series are "do you think pinnochio found happiness after all?" and after you hear that you see Jiro walking away through fire with tears running down his face. so i understand people not liking it, or hearing of it (it was on at like...4 AM on adult swim a few years back). hmmm.. other obscurities... i cant think of more series that are obscure that arent yaoi sweatdrop

Actually, if it wasn't ever on adult swim - I'd be fairly confident in the fact that the few fans it has would probably not know of it - adult swim saves shows sometimes; not all the time, but sometimes.
I can think of a lot of obscure horror series; and some random things that just came out in Japan (most of which are comedies) - but no names really come to mind right now...

if you look through the RightStuf catalog theres TONS of obscure stuff~ cuz they have pretty much everything... i love reading the summaries of all the stuff cuz i'll be like "wow, thats the most obscure thing ive ever seen. but thats looks AWESOME."

Traditionally - if its in RightStuf, that means some people must know of it, ne? Of course - most of the obscure stuff is unlicensed and not by a Takahashi or CLAMP (obviously before XxX and Tsubasa came over here - EVERYBODY still knew about them).

just because SOME people know about it doesnt mean its a huge hit like SOME shows are, yes? so therefore they have obscurities in there too.

Out of all of those... I only haven't heard of two. XD As for myself, I don't think I really like any series that are all that obscure. Perhaps "Shakugan no Shana" would count?

i think Shana is getting a bit more popular, actually... its still fairly new, but i know it's not really that obscure. at least that's just my personal opinion

older anime tends to not be well-known nowadays (with exceptions, of course) but that's cool that you like those ^^ i havent heard of them but whatever~ hmmm.... is Lumen Lunae obscure? i think it is.... i still havent been able to read it, though it looks pretty interesting based off of summaries i've read.

 Yeah, I've seen Luna Varga - its okay; I think I may have seen MAPS too - was that a sci-fi movie?
Old anime is okay; I prefer the newer stuff - but I'll still watch an old one if it has a good enough plot.
Yeah, I'd consider Lumen Lunae obscure ;;
