I find that The Doors have quite dark lyrics.
Peace Frog I find is rather contradictory, since the music itself is quite upbeat, but the lyrics are talking about 'blood in the streets'.
What do you think of The Door's lyrics?

What do you think of The Door's lyrics? I'd like to start off by saying this is one of, if not my favorite Doors song, anyway I believe he was sugarcoating a strong, dark concept that he was showing. Now when I say sugarcoating I obviously dont mean that it was just like all bubblegum and filled in and hidden messages and crap, all I mean is that he took a great upbeat, song and filled with quite the opposite lyrics trying to show a message that normally people would think he was insane or something if he had used a dark tone.

"Indians scattered on dawn's highway bleeding/ Ghosts crowd the young child's fragile eggshell mind" and "Blood screams her brain as they chop off her fingers" really stand out as "WHOA" to me.
These lyrics must mean something, perhaps in a political/social light, not just random morbid lyrics. I'd really have to sit down and analyze "Peace Frog" the way I do poetry.
Wish me luck, lol! heart heart heart

Rockerpixie - Lol, yeah, good luck.
RockerT - I think that's exactly what he was doing. He did a damn good job of it too. It kind of reminds me of how some people think that 'Every Breath You Take' by the Police is romantic, when he's singing about a stalker.

It's funny, because when I was little I used to think it was about someone that died and was "watching over" someone they loved... yeah. I was wrong. Hahaha... heart heart heart

Wish me luck, lol! heart heart heart It must have something to do with the incident he experienced as a kid. Because one day his family was on a road trip or something and they came across the carnage of a terrible car accident and there were dead Indians everyhwere, and Jim said that really effected him. I'm not sure about the finger chopping though.

I'm not sure about the finger chopping though. yeah he claimed to be inhabited by the indian's spirits or something from that day. it really messed him up, I can't blame him.
But yeah, about Peace Frog, Rocker T got it head on haha 3nodding
and I kinda like the morbid lyrics in the songs. It makes them interesting, and you can always have something to think about.
But I dunno, Land Ho! isn't quite morbid.. (though it is a tad depressing). Haha I love that song<33
oh, and about Maxwell's Silver Hammer (I loove that song). I read somewhere that Paul laughed while recording that because apparently John Lennon mooned him on the word behind or something. hahah And I found a quote from George Harrison "I mean, come on, Maxwell's Silver Hammer was so fruity!" hahah, it made me die when I read that

yeah, Peace Frog is actually two poems that they super-imposed into one song. one is a metaphore for Jim's life:
Theres blood in the streets, its up to my ankles Theres blood on the streets, its up to my knee Blood on the streets in the town of chicago Blood on the rise, its following me She came and then she drove away Blood in the streets runs a river of sadness Blood in the streets its up to my thigh Yeah the river runs down the legs of the city The women are crying red rivers of weepin Indians scattered on dawns highway bleeding Ghosts crowd the young childs fragile eggshell mind Blood in the streets in the town of new haven Blood stains the roofs and the palm trees of venice Blood in my love in the terrible summer Bloody red sun of phantastic l.a. Blood streams her brain as they chop off her fingers Blood will be born in the birth of a nation Blood is the rose of mysterious union Theres blood in the streets, its up to my ankles Blood in the streets, its up to my knee Blood in the streets in the town of chicago Blood on the rise, its following me
and the other, Pam's:
She came She came She came Think about the break of day She came and then she drove away Sunlight in her hair She came She came She came She came She came into town and then she drove away Sunlight in her hair
