Ugh, I've been shamefully inactive... Anyway!
There's already a thread to promote good fanfiction, but what about bad fanfiction? What has you clicking the back button so fast that your server gets whiplash?
For me, it's Neji being portrayed as a rapist or abusive partner, and Sakura taking it like some little, er, female dog. Now, this situation is admittedly more prominent amongst NejiHina and SasuSaku, but still.
Also, Sakura triggering some sort of ZOMG CHANGE OF LUV!!1! in Neji. I've seen this done reasonably well, but it gets old when every other fic has Neji acting like he did before getting Naruto's Redemption no Jutsu in the face until sweet, pure, emotionally perfect Mary Sue in disguise Sakura shows him how to love xp

For me, what not to do in NejiSaku fictions are:
1. Don't copy other people's ideas. (I see many people copying, and it's getting really boring XP)
2. DON'T make Neji a playboy. He really isn't one.
3. STOP making Sakura a slut! Many people make her that way, and it's just getting stupid.

Numbers 2 and 3 cannot be said often enough.
Neji barely has the hormones for one relationship, and I don't care how many skanks try to throw themselves into his bed. He strikes me as the type that would be faithful to a relationship anyway. I mean, he hated Hinata and the Main House in general, but before Hinata slapped him in the face with his own hypocrisy and he went ape, he took his duty as a Branch member seriously and gave Hinata several chances to back down quietly from their fight. Why should he show any less loyalty to a significant other?
I seriously don't get Slut!Sakura portrayals. She may be something of a closet pervert, but she also acts generally prude. And besides, since when has every pervert, let alone every closet pervert, been a slut? In any case, Sakura throwing sexually herself at anyone, let alone Neji, on a first encounter/ date is just ludicrous. Seriously, how drunk would she have to be?
Someone should totally make a drinking game based on badly written romance fics!

People can be petty when they make characters they don't like into sluts. They do it with real people too.

And also, don't make Sakura into a major pervert. Her "inner-self" was in the very beginning of the series, but notice how Inner Sakura slowly faded away...showing that Sakura is mature now and can handle her feelings responsibly.

Yeah the whole thing with Neji been abusive to Sakura, kind of freaks me out. I just came across one where he actually rapes her and she has his kid, and now he's trying to make it up to her. How do you do that!?! >_< Neji is not a monster! YOU ARE! *points at the author that created the fanfic* HOW COULD YOU!! Was Ochimaru controlling your mind!?!

I hate it when Nej iis made into a slut too. Ususally not in m/f fanfics, but it can get annoying pretty fast since that is nothing like him. He's a good character, so he shouldn't be bastardized so much.
