...Like they're being smothered in D/S? Don't get me wrong, I love D/S just as much as I love all the insane crack pairings I partake in, but it bothers me that the D/S relationship was stressed so heavily in more then half of season 3, when I feel other, more important parts of the plot should have been concentrated on a little more.

And that's not even getting into the fact that you can't turn any direction in the fandom without seeing D/S art, D/S stories... one after another after another. It's cool you guys like the pairing so much, but how about a little more variety?

I think what Mr. Hartman was trying to do was prepare us for Phantom Planet so that when they finally got together, it wouldn't feel too random. However, I still think he killed it. I used to like the pairing a lot more, but that was back when it was cute. It started to get sickening for me. I still like it, just not as much. Plus, I don't think they'll last longer than a few months.

I understand why it's the most popular pairing, but I guess there are just a lot of very young fans of this show, and so they themselves don't understand love and romance and just put them together because they're the main characters. They don't seem to understand chemistry. Danny and Sam just don't have enough chemistry.

Season 3 disappointed me immensely. Way too many new characters when older characters would've done just as well. Not enough character development for, well, anyone.

And I miss Dash liking Jazz. Why couldn't that have been developed more? I was kind of annoyed in AotKGS when Dash didn't even notice that Jazz wasn't at the party.

Yeah, I really get what you're saying there... I was ready to start a riot over the lack of Valerie until D-Stabilized had me squealing over her (And Dani's) return, and even then I was more then a little bitter about her lack of involvement in Phantom Planet when the end of D-Stabilized hinted that she'd play a role in Vlad's downfall (She had, like, three cameos and no lines! xp )

I also agree that they overdid it with the new characters, though they probably only did so for the season finale, so that they'd have more ghosts to cameo for the whole humans-and-ghosts-join-forces-to-save-the-world thing. Still, I really missed Clockwork, and wish that Dan had a chance for a reappearance. Not to mention the fact that we haven't seriously seen Fright Knight since Reign Storm. Wasn't he supposed to be working for Vlad or something? And what happeded to the vultures? I liked the vultures!

I'm also a little bothered with the way Danny chose to reveal himself at the end of PP. After what we saw in Reality Trip, not to mention the way he was being harassed in Forever Phantom, I'd think that he'd want things a little more low key... and Jack and Maddie's reaction to his revelation was very disappointing, lacking the emotion they had in RT. And while we're on that note, what the heck happened to the GiW? They were harassing Danny that entire movie, and as soon as he reveals himself they disappear? What's with that?

Season 3 was disappointing, but there were a few episodes I really enjoyed, most notably D-Stabilized, which feature the return of two of my favorite characters, a team up between Danny and Valerie, Lots of action and emotion (I was ready to cry when Dani melted...) and a look at a more grown up Valerie, who finally realized that she was being duped by Vlad. Really, what's not to love? I also enjoyed Forever Phantom, since it showed Danny in a more mature light as well and because Amorpho was one of the better new characters. I liked Claws of the Wild too, and got a giggle out of a lot that happened in that episode. It helped that the D/S in that eppie was a little more subtle and far more bearable.

Still, I don't think I can stomach watching Livin' Large or Boxed Up Fury again, the latter especially. My deep, passionate and eternal love of Greek mythology had me enraged over how they abused it in that eppie, twisting things around for thier own purposes without really thinking about the genuine myth. I was also more then a little indignant that Danny and Tucker had never even heard of Pandora, which is by far one of the most common greek myths. Realistically speaking, they would have at least had to have heard it vaugely at least once in thier life... Especially with Danny's interest in the stars and space travel, since the greek myths play a big role in many different constellations. (He kinda made up for it in my book by knowing about Patroclus in D-Stabilized, though, since he's one of the lesser known heroes of Greek mythology. biggrin )

...Wait, we were talking about pairings, weren't we? sweatdrop sorry about the rant...

Rants are totally cool. No need to feel confined!

I was happy with D-Stabilized. If only all the Season 3 episodes were that amazing.

To tell you the truth, I didn't notice most of the cameos in PP. I clearly recall seeing Valerie once looking (mildly) surprised when Danny's secret was revealed, but as for the ghosts...I might've seen Danielle, but I can't remember. I think I was too irritated with unrealistic things that had already happened to take much note of that.

Ha. Vultures. Ha ha.

Well, the differeing situations and reactions in RT, FP, and PP just goes to show the inconsistency and lack of realism this show has. I kind of hate to say this, but while I adore the idea of the show, it could've been done so much better. I love Butch to death, but I kind of wish that someone else had thought of it.

Gah, don't kill me!

I'm sad that his secret is no longer secret. That will totally take the fun out of a fourth season. Superheroes have secret identities for a reason! Then again, his ghost enemies always knew he was, so I guess it really doesn't matter if his human ones do as well.

I didn't cry when Danielle melted because Nick would never allow death in one of its cartoons. In fact, I was too confused about how she suddenly sprang back up to think about it. What exactly stabilized her? Danny only sprayed her arm, as I recall. Well, the rest of the episode made up for that. I was so happy to finally see a good Season 3 episode, especially since Valerie was in it! Their playfulness in the end was so cute, too. The only thing I didn't like about it were Sam and Tucker's reaction to Danny "massively blowing them off." That seemed kind of mean. Don't they know what he goes through already?

I don't remember much of Boxed Up Fury. I just recalled thinking that I didn't care enough about Box Ghost for him to get an episode. About the mythology, well, like I said before, I don't think Mr. Hartman is the brightest guy out there. Not that I think he doesn't know his mythology, but that he chose to twist it and think that it would be okay. Then, Danny, Tucker, and Sam are always learning things that they should've known a long time ago. Sam not knowing how long Danny hated Christmas? Tucker not knowing what an ultra-recyclo vegetarian is? I guess they just make the characters clueless so that things can be explained to the clueless members of the audience.

Anyway, um, too much Danny/Sam.

EDIT: I guess I should say Nick would never allow casual death. There wasn't enough dramatic tension leading up to Danielle melting, so it didn't spark much emotion in me.

~I think quite a few people feel that way, actually. xd I know I felt like it has being forced on us after a while, but I don't really hate it. I don't seek out fic for it, but I read fics that are good that are based on it, if that makes any sense.

I kind of think that the worst ones for that shoved-down-the-throat feeling were Beauty Marked and Urban Jungle. It seemed like it was all just 'omgMORAL' and 'omgD/S' and that was it. With a side of 'omgNEWPOWER!!!' in UJ. Kind of sad. sad

I never seek out fics for D/S. The only pairings I'll read just for the sake of the pairing are Danny/Paulina and Danny/Star since they're different and rare. When I do find good fics that are based on D/S, I'm okay with it. I guess that's why I usually prefer summaries that don't give away the pairings involved ahead of time. If it says D/S, I usually skip over it unless the summary sounds amazing, which is rare.

Beauty Marked made me sick because Sam was way too feminist, and I really can't stand feminists. But, ah, as for the pairing, I could deal with it. I'll have to rewatch UJ. Was there really a lot of D/S in there? I just remember Sam being all weird and plantish, and she treated plants like people, the bloody weirdo.

But I love Sam. Just not Danny/Sam. Let's focus on Sam/Jazz instead.

And hold on, you're a merzurg again? eek You're messing with my mind! scream

I don't hate any pairings, and i'll read anything. It's just that so many D/S stories are losing originality and the pairing seems to be suffering because of it. It doesn't help that the other girls Danny was interested in throughout the length of the show (Particularly Paulina and Valerie) are portrayed unfairly by so many D/S pieces, and that close-mindedness bothers me more then anything else.

I think the episodes that most annoyed me with being overrun with D/S were in the 3rd season, since it felt like they kept pushing it and pushing it until it lost it's appeal. I'll probably like D/S again soon, but right now I need a break from it before I go crazy...

The Danny Phantom fandom has always been over run by d/s... that's just how most fans work they go for the most likly of pairings. While I don't HATE d/s it is VERY annoying when you have to wade through a bunch of d/s crap just to find a good story or picture... I've read good ones... but I just don't like the pairing to be up front and all the story is about.

What you said about Season 3 welll...I havn't really been watching the newer stuff...I've been more likly to go on the computer then watch T.V. so if I've seen a more recent episode it was online. But from what I know d/s has been a big part it and D-Stabalized flickin' rocked.

Danny and Sam getting together: Predictable

Likely hood of them breaking up in less then a year: rather high...There only 14.

There always has been a lot of D/S, but it's gotten even more insane lately, and so many D/S fans are bothering people who write/draw something that isn't D/S, Or they complain that the picture would be better if it was Sam instead of so-and-so. Every new picture is either of Danny and Sam kissing, Danny and Sam dating, Danny and Sam married with kids, Sam killing off any potential romantic rivals. (Those ones REALLY bother me, since I'm totally against pairing/character bashing. Besides, I still think Valerie would win any fight with Sam hands down...) It's gotten so bad that I feel like I'm losing my inspiration for the pairing since it's becoming to monotonous.

~In a real, to-the-death fight, Val would totally win. Sam doesn't seem to warrior-like to me. xd But someone drawing that would bother me as much as someone drawing Sam pwning Valerie or whatever it is they do. Character bashing is bad, fanbrats. rolleyes

~I usually just look at the premise, regardless of the pairing. If the plot's cool and the story's well-written, who really cares, right? ^^

I don't mind her thinking that beauty pageants are stupid and demeaning, 'cause they kind of are, but the way she goes about things is totally a bad choice. Saying you're a feminist is all well and good, but a feminist doesn't just go around putting down other women and being a general idiot about it. The way she was acting seemed very poser-ish there, to me. I think it was the combination of making her oh-so-feminist-and-liberated! and Danny ending up admitting she was right and just... ugh. Did not like.

XD I kind of liked her talking to her plants like that. People do that, it's just quirky. But in that ep. he was so concerned about Sam and saving Sam and he didn't seem nearly so worried about his family or anything. It was all about Sam. It wasn't that big a thing, really, but the annoying is rather cumulative throughout the series, no? ^^

I do like Sam, quite a lot. She's fun and an interesting character. The show just tries to portray her as being right, and she's really a very flawed person. I think that's the problem. But on this I quite agree! Sam/Jazz 4evar! xd

Hey, I was running the Atlantis room for the 5th Annual Ball. ^^ I needed to be properly dressed! Besides, my advanced Zurg technology can easily mutate me from regular Zurg to mer!Zurg and back again. xp Fear us!

The summary is all that really concerns me as well. That's why I don't favor authors or anything. I just bookmarked the DP fanfiction page sorted by publish date and check it everyday.

I was in a beauty pageant once. It was actually kind of fun. I guess that's why I didn't understand why Sam had such a problem with it. I was thinking maybe she was just jealous that Danny was paying to so many girls that weren't her.

Danny did kind of admit she was right in the end...Curse that Sam and her powerful choleric ways of persuasion! mad

I thought it was hilarious that she talked to her plants, but then I wonder why she allows herself to eat them if they're obviously people, too. Or maybe she doesn't really eat them. Maybe that's why Sam is such a stick compared to the other female characters of the show. She doesn't eat anything. D:

Sam is just so unique and flawed. Sammy Sam Sam, how I doth love thee! heart I like Sam so much that I created a fansite devoted to her. If 110mb.com would just resolve their Comcast blockage thing, I'd be able to upload it. stare

Heh, you always have cool ideas for your avatar. I have quite a bit of gold and items, but I don't know what to do with them. sweatdrop I'm so boring.

~I just read whatever I happen to come across that sounds interesting. ^^ I'm not nearly so organized about it, I pretty much only read reccs or stuff by friends now anyway.

I don't know; jealousy was obviously a factor, but she probably did have real complaints about the pageant itself as well. I mean, it's not like they weren't portraying them in a pretty negative light there, anyway- I wouldn't like the weird clone thing they had going on there either.

Beauty pageants aren't really like that in real life, though, so it's not fair of them to do that. -_- There are some legitimate complaints about objectification of women and things, I think, but it's really not that big a deal and if the people are having fun, who cares? ^^ What I want is some male pageants with pretty guys I can watch on TV. ninja (Creepy weightlifter dudes don't count)

Well of course! Butch has to prove how very progressive and sensitive to the plight of women he is. Blech. Really, she didn't do anything to win the pgeant and she didn't care about winning the pageant and she was wrong. She should not have won, Hartman! I also hate how the ep. makes it out like she's the only girl in the entire school who doesn't participate in that thing. WTF, there is no way that would ever happen.

I was wondering why Undergrowth liked her so much! She's an ultra-recyclo-vegetarian, that means she eats more of his 'children' than normal! I think she's so sticky just 'cause of the vegetarianism, though I'm kind of confused when it shows her as being as athletic as Dash in that one ep. Really, when you list all the good qualities Sam's supposed to have from all the episodes, it looks like he's trying to make a canon sue. D: Ah well. Canon is silly. ^^

I love Sam's flaws. heart They make her so very human. If only Hartman loved them as we do! I especially like her relationship with her parents, because I like the idea that it's not OMGalltheirfault! It's so realistic! heart

Fansite!!! Awesomeness! Tell me when ya get it up, y/y?

Thanks! ^^ See, this is because I have no life! xd I spend my time creating little pixel outfits for little pixel people. Maybe try getting other people to tektek you outfits or something? A lot of people like doing that. I'm in a guild of 'em! ^^

Yes, male pageants...yes... twisted That's what this world needs. Darn, that would make a really funny episode! I wish I was somehow related to Butch so that I could've influenced him.

She was completely wrong! I think Paulina should've won, or that girl who did the baton twirling. Paulina looks-wise, the other girl talent-wise. Sam's poem was lame, and she's not especially pretty despite what her obsessive fans think. Then, yeah they do always make it look like Sam is just about the only girl in school who embraces her individuality and has such views. Eh, I guess they just really wanted to make her stand out in every way possible.

I didn't understand Sam being as athletic as Dash because in "The Million Dollar Ghost," she complained about having to do exercise, and she looked like she was struggling to pedal that bicycle thing. Sure, she was carrying a lot of weight as well, but if she's in top shape as "Micro Management" had us believe, then it shouldn't have been that hard for her.

My fansite's already kind of up, but for Comcast users, it's only accessible through a proxy, and since I doubt many Danny Phantom fans would know how to do that, I'm just waiting until the problem's resolved. sweatdrop I want to make a Jazz site next.

I could ask other people to design one for me, I guess. Are people willing to do that for free? I don't want to give up gold for it. I like my imaginary money.
