Before I was a Mom

I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.

I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.

I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom - I had never been puked on.

Pooped on.

Chewed on.

Peed on.

I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.

I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom

I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.

Or give shots.

I never looked into teary eyes and cried.

I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.

I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom

I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to

put them down.

I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I

couldn't stop the hurt..

I never knew that something so small could affect my life so

much.

I never knew that I could love someone so much.

I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom -

I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.

I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.

I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.

I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so

important and happy.

Before I was a Mom -

I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every

10 minutes to make sure all was okay.

I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache,

the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.

I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a

Mom.

I LOVE THIS!!!! makes my eyes tear up everytime I read it. everyone talks about the troubles of having a child but you know what, all of those troubles go away as soon as my son smiles, it makes it all worth while and who knows true love better than a mother right

I teared up too! Since Fox came along, I think of how my life used to be and I see a completely different person. I think I'm happier. I might not be as crazy and hyper as I used to be, but I'm more reseptive to love. Plus, giving birth to our son made Matthew and I much closer. We were already pretty close, but now our bond is virtually unbreakable... all because of a miniature version of Matt! While I was pregnant, sooo many people felt the need to tell me how hard it is to take care of kids and how hard it is on a couple's relationship. Maybe it is for some people, but I have found nothing hard about being a mother... except when I have to watch the doctors stick needles in my baby's legs... and when he cries and I can't do anything about it...♥

I couldn't agree with you more here Aisha... However when he turns to a teen things begin to change... But I wouldn't change it for anything in the world!!

Ack, trust me. I'm already dreading the teen years! I wish that he could stay little forever... Well, sometimes I don't wish that!

I am still waiting for my oldest to move out...LOL He has a nonstop appetite.. I can't wait for him to get a job and go out on his own even with the threat of war I keep telling him maybe he should go Regular Army instead of Reserve, Even though if he gets deployed I will cry my eyes out and miss him the moment he is gone... But he needs the discipline

And boy, can they eat! I think in the last couple of years my oldest son's appetite seems to have doubled! He is still so skinny though. I don't know where he puts it. However, I still remember the heartbreak of putting him on the bus for Kindergarten for the first time. I waved at him while trying not to cry only to walk home and cry my eyes out. Now that he will be leaving for Iraq in February but leaving home in January, I dread that moment of saying goodbye because the crying I will do then will be nothing in comparison. Just thinking about it makes me cry.

My eldest son is already in college and I cried my eyes out when he waved to me and left. I just walked into the house woke up my younger son and told him his brother just left. D'Metrius and I cried together. Lol, seems dumb now, because Justin comes to visit me every weekend.
