Yes, I do. After having only been in this guild for approximately 15 seconds, I see a massively problem.

There aren't any actual discussions.
Whether this is from lack of actual intelligence, or simply because everybody demands to have their own thread dedicated to announcing only them, there aren't any.

Now, I am not saying this guild is full of illiterate boobs, nor am I proclaiming the ignorance and/or cam/attention whore ideals upon you; I am merely saying that, as long as this guild advertises as such, a guild that claims to have "refuge" from the GD and ED (Now trash pits), should not only have threads announcing arrivals.

Yes, I know there is an "Extended Discussion" section, for in depth debates.
But I don't think it appropriate for a main forum to have nothing but welcome parties.

In summary: Add some real discussion. I'm not dissing this guild or anything, but there aren't any discussions in the main forum.

Oh, and hi, I'm new. :3

It's difficult to get new members to post about something besides the fact that they're new. Then there is the fact that after creating that thread, we never see them again.

There are also a lot of welcome threads because the guild doubled in size in about a month. It was expected for this to happen.

But yeah, fell free to add some real discussion into the guild. If only three people are continuously active in the guild.. eventually, we're going to run out of things to say to each other.

Thank you for your foresight into this problem, i'll get started with recycling some of those welcome threads after this post, but feel free to point out any flaws you see. Notify me on any problems you see, I like to fix things.

And, welcome to the guild, man.

There isn't a rule against discussion threads; it just seems that no one makes them. Like Purple said, we have a lot of new people who are unsure of what they should do upon joining. Because we intentionally have a reputation for high standards, it might seem daunting to some users to post anything besides what we explicitely tell them they can post. But we really don't have anything against discussion threads.

EDIT:
You might want to look in Chit-Chat for discussion. That seems to be where people go to post about... anything, really.

Honestly, I think a lot of the problem is this guild has WAY too many subpages. Each subpage has at most three topics that are active, i.e., someone added to it within the last day or so. That's really not enough activity to warrant a seperate subpage for each of the topics. We would be better off if every topic was in one big forum, like on the front page. If activity picks up, it may be time to create new subforums to go, but as it stands, there really isn't enough to warrant it.

But I've just been a member for like a week, so don't take anything I say too seriously. I wouldn't want to be stepping on any toes, just throwing my opinion out there.

THANK YOU!!! I'm also kind of new here (couple days actually) and I realized that practically no one posts anything here. My excuse is school *shakes fist* but if it weren't for that, I'd be here all the time. xd

A more legit response from me;

This guild does not have high standards on posting; rather high standards on members. If you're accepted or invited, you're in the clear. We don't want people to feel tension when posting new topics. The rules for each forum are very clear, and we have them so certain topics don't get mixed in with others.

We will eventually change things around and make the main forum one of pure discussion, however until things slow down enough to; it will remain an introductory forum.

Well I've never been one for a lot of subforums and spreading everything out. I believe that's part of the issue. People come in, introduce themselves, and then they don't know where to go next. The subforums are daunting and they're not 100% sure where to post.

But if you're not happy with the guild, please tell us. We always like feedback on how to better improve it. But also please not our current circumstances. These introduction threads have only popped up in the last two weeks or so.

And if no one is starting discussion threads, then just don't sit here and complain about it- create one yourself (which you kind of sort of did).

I'd like to add one thing; even if we made the main forum a pure discussion forum, it would still clutter with intro threads because some members immedeately think to post there and as for subforums, we cannot do anything about that, once you buy a subforum, you can't sell it back, so we should name them and use them rather than leaving them blank w/o topics.

Leave them nameless and lock them and that solves that problem. However, they all now have accurate descriptions and all serve a different purpose.

I haven't been home the last couple of days, because of grad help/birthday. I'll definately post more after today though.

And yeah, I've noticed that there are a lot of subforums. Some are necessary, but not all of them. A couple could probably just keep their posts on the front page.

The Blunt response:

We are busy sometimes.
We have lives.
We cannot be posting 24/7 here.
I have rarely been on the pc because of important exams.
This is the month where people normally are under a lot of stress.
So sorry if there is a lack of discussion.

A bunch of new members (who have probably posted once) just randomly decided to hop on the bandwagon here and say there is a lack of discussion.
What are your keyboards for?
If you have enough time to complain you must have enough time to think of creating your own discussion or adding points/counter points to another.
