Let me tell all of you a quick story about myself. Trust me, this has to do with the title.
I don't think that how long I've been on Gaia makes me better than anyone else, however I do feel that I've been rather loyal to the ED for the X amount of years I've been here. I've seen it in its highs, and its lows and its even lower. Which I'm sure many of you have been through as well. My point is that I haven't bothered to visit many of the other forums and whenever I do, I leave with a nasty taste in my mouth. I've always chosen the ED over the others because, in my opinion, the ED is much much better. People actually talk and discuss things with each other.
This topic is sorta a spur of the moment out of annoyance with the Movies forum. I wanted to discuss a movie and it got removed not too long after I created it. No warning, no mail, nothing. Just removed. I looked, saw one topic that wasn't even want I wanted to discuss, only shared the name, and I guess they just removed it thinking it was a repeat.
I'll be honest, when a topic reaches page (warning slight exaggeration ahead) 328479387485749 I really don't want to try and talk about one thing there. Where most people are just making few liners and then leaving.
So, you're probably wondering what this has to do with the ED or my title? Well, it has to do with options. Options of what we can deeply discuss with one another. I find none of the other forums, not even the GD at times, acceptable to discuss properly. I've seen people get cut down and told they didn't belong in the ED for bringing up movies or shows or music or whatever. Often times I've agreed, but if someone is trying to really discuss it, not go on about how cool it was or how sexy such and such was, then I think I may believe it should be accepted in the ED.
I mean, seriously, must we been restricted to talking about sex, politics, religion, the many other overly made topics on ED? Deep discussion can come out of almost anything, and just because something isn't what everyone's use too seeing around ED, it doesn't have to mean it doesn't belong.
Please hear me out on this, give me opinions, thoughts, ect. This is almost like a proposal but...not.....At least consider the idea and whether it would work or not, if it's acceptable or not, ect...

I see what you're saying, and i agree 100%. Because of stuff like that, i wouldn't even go into a movie topic in ED because i would think it to not be ED material. it's quite annoying that all that's talked about in there is about gays, sex. politics, religon, and of course, the spam xp

I really feel it's kind of suffocating that all the mass of ED will accept are topics about the above examples. We shouldn't be limited to what we talk about, perhaps only how we talk about it.
I've always felt the ED was a place to have deep, serious discussion about concepts, ideas, opinions, theories, facts, ect ect. But it seems like most on ED just what proof of things and not to think deeply about the what ifs. It's always about facts and conversation gets worn out talking about the same old things over and over again.

Kojima Michiyo I really feel it's kind of suffocating that all the mass of ED will accept are topics about the above examples. To be fair, though, there's such a heavy inclination towards real proof/sources now because of the problem you mentioned earlier of a limited spectrum of topics. The few topics there are now are all very worldly based, they're talking about things going on/went on in the real world, and usually whether or not they were good or bad. Things like this do deserve actual proof for what people say. I think this is why ED tends more towards these types of discussions anyway, because there is an obvious chance to prove someone wrong. I've been in a few discussions that didn't work like that(the biggest one that comes to mind was a thread about Furries; I'm not really even sure it was meant to be a discussion by the creator, it turned into one, but it looked like he was just making an "ad" for Furries to "educate people". Anyway, I gave my opinion on the group, and there was one person who tried very hard to prove my opinion wrong, which is impossible. An opinion is an opinion, it may be based on real or false information, but the opinion itself is neither right nor wrong. But, a good number of "idea" debates do still require proof of some kind. I've done LD debate, which is supposed to be the "thinking/idea" style of debate. You certainly don't need as much real world evidence as Policy, but you do still need some evidence to show why your way of thinking makes sense. There probably won't ever be a debate where real proof is not needed.
