By Moonlight

Updates:
* You may now have up to three (3) characters.
* We are not accepting any more bad/ruling vampires at this time.
* There are two NPCs everyone should be aware of. Head of the Clergy: High Bishop Godric Oswald Templer, and Lady of the Vampries: Lady Dilara Melantha Valdis. They will be played by Lady Dracor to direct certain events.

Setting: A fairly industrialized city in Europe, and its surrounding area. There is a king and queen ruling the land as well.

Time: In the future at some point. There's just something about running water and electricity.... However, the mannerisms and dress is, for the most part, circa the late 1600s or early 1700s.

Story: As of late, two groups have arisen within society, perhaps as a response to one another. From a somewhat peaceful time, a faction has arisen; inquisitors that seek to eradicate evil from the world, often in the name of religion. Such beings as witches and demons, or any creature of the devil, they seek to destroy without thought.

On the other hand, centuries of fear and hiding have brought powerful vampires to seek out one another and discuss happenings in dark tones. These vampires believe they are far superior to humans and have begun to make human slaves for themselves. They want to rule over the humans as the superior race.

While there are others who disagree with both sides. Vampire and human alike who seek only to live in peace or simply to coexist. They believe that each faction is wrong in its beliefs and are often caught up in the battle by accident, but once a part of it, they want to help it end.

And yet there are still others who know nothing of this three-sided war drawn up in secrecy and lies who are oblivious and ignorant to the happenings entirely.

Which side will win? Who will find love or lose it? Who will learn of a new world, or turn from it?

NPC List:
1. High Bishop Godric Oswald Templer
2. Lady Dilara Melantha Valdis

3. Leonardo Medici

~*~*~*~

Setting List:

O'neil Bookery: A bookshop run primarily by Aisling O'neil, though it is owned by her father. It is a crowded, but neat book shop filled to the brim with books. With so many books, there just may be one or two books about the seemingly supernatural in the world. If Aisling doesn't know about a book though, chances are the bookshop--or any in town--doesn't have it. Just be careful about asking Aisling because she is stubborn and wary of strangers asking about strange things.

The Grand Church of the Clergy: Only clergy may go here; it is their headquarters and a virtual labyrinth in which they live and discuss their plots and ideas as they attempt to overthrow all evil in the world with their Grand Inquisition.

The Everlasting Castle: The castle that is the meeting grounds for the vampire faction that wishes to rule over the humans. They may live there or not. Already, a number of human servants are under vampire control at this castle and are little better than slaves. (someone PLEASE come up with a better name!)

If you would like to add an additional public setting, please PM Lady Dracor so that she can add it! For instance, if you wish to run a tavern, Lady Dracor will add your tavaern to the list.

Physical Description:. Short, thin body frame. Flaming red hair contrasts greatly with her stunning green eyes and pale, freckled skin. Constantly wears a nun's habit.
Personality: Neamhain is fanatical in her beliefs of God. She sees all creatures of the night as demonic Hell Spawn to be exorcised from the World, and usually chooses to do so with large, semi-automatic weapons she carries at all times. Just as she loathes all demonic Hell Spawn, she loves humans dearly, and will stop at nothing to help them, by -any- means neccessary.

He had a long thin scar along his left cheek bone.
Personality: He keeps himself very quiet, and possesses great self control. Traits that are necessary if a human is to survive for very long with the vampires.
Background: He truely hates the vampires, as he lost his wife and child to them before being taken as a slave. Unbeknownst to him, it was a demon, not a vampire that killed his family. He would be more than willing to work in secret with other humans to plot the destruction of the vampires, and would work from the inside to achieve this.
Side: Servant/Slave Humans

Good/Neutral Vampires:
Quote:
Name: Michael Angrael
Age: 350
Age Appears to Be: 27
Race: Vampire; English-French

Personality: A touch narcississtic, sure of self, likes books. Often, he is rather cool to others and may seem superior; however, if a person strikes him right, he is friendly, and always polite. He tends to keep to himself largely out of necessity.
Background: 350 years ago, his lover turned him before parting ways with him. He was a clergyman at the time, and maintains his faith. He also plays a number of stringed instruments exceedingly well.

Age Appears to Be: 18
Race: Vampire
Occupation: Wandering scholar
Physical Description: She stands at bout 5'7" and does not weight very much. She has striking fiery red hair and emerald green eyes. She dresses in earth towns, opting for khaki and denim when travelling. Once in a blue moon, however, she will don something that is more feminine and flatters her pale skin, red hair, and green eyes.
Personality: Erebus is a lone wolf figure, opting to travel alone and spend the rest of her free time in quiet solitude. The young woman is rather indifferent towards the clergy, humans in general, and even her own kind. She feels she has no use for the will to rule over the humans and is ready to dispose of anyone who tries to interfere with her lifestyle.
Background: Erebus stopped using her mortal name years ago. She does not even remember what it is nor does she remember much about her life as a human. Before she was turned, she had met a Vampire in her home. Because he ws an outsider and she was associating with him, the community blamed her for all the chaos that was happening in their village. Accused of being a witch and sentenced to death, she begged the Vampire to take her with him when he left and since that day, she has abandoned who she was as a mortal. She created a whole new persona and lfie for herself, giving ehr the ability to change along with the times. Since then, she has left her vampire lover and travelled the world, on a quest for knowledge and enlightenmnet.
Side: Neutral

Ruling/Bad Vampires:
Quote:
Name: Alessio Scordato

Physical Description: 5'10" (178cm), 150lbs (68kg). Long, wavy black hair, often tied in a ponytail with a red ribbon. He has bright blue eyes that contrast with his hair and slightly tanned skin tone. He dresses mostly in reds.
Personality: At 145 years, he is still very young as far as vampires go, therefore he has a great deal of respect for those vampires around him, especially the elder ones. He has very little regard for humans however, believing them to be little more than a food source and occassional entertainment.
Being born Italian, he was raised Catholic. He maintains many of his religious beliefs, but in a warped sense, believing that Vampires are chosen by God to be superior to humans. He is intelligent, but his personal and religious beliefs can often blind him of the facts.
Background: Turned at a young age and given very little guidance. He found himself adopted by those vampires who look to rule over the humans, and as a result, took many of their beliefs for his own. He had very little knowledge of other demons in the world, with the exception of their existance.
Side: Ruling/Bad

Quote:
Name: Aniketos Deimos; Usually addressed as Deimos
Age: 300
Age Appears to Be: 25
Race: Vampire; Greek
Occupation: Errand Runner for the Elder Vampires
Physical Description: Black hair the colour of an abyss flows to Deimos' narrow shoulders. His skin is tanned, and his heart-shaped face holds his stunning ice blue eyes which can set many on edge. He prefers to have his long canine teeth visible between his lips. He is usually dressed in dark colours, such as black, night grey, and deep blue.
Personality:. With his name meaning "unconquerable terror", it is not hard to see why he would be seen as terrifying. Though, this is in the sense that he likes to do things dramatically, as if he were upon stage performing. He speaks with exaggerated tones, and generally will make extravagant arm movements when he speaks. He also likes the things that he is involved with to be
Background: Deimos, while alive, had always been a law abiding, God fearing citizen. But when he met his sire, known only to him as Ambrosius Phobos ("Immortal Fear"), his views were quickly changed. They were like lovers for a half a century, until Phobos mysteriously disappeared one night. Enraged that his sire would leave him in such a manner, Deimos swore to get revenge against him in one way or another.
Side: Ruling/Bad

Quote:
Name: Dante Maria Medici
Age: 346
Age Appears to Be: 21
Race: vampire
Occupation: Secretary to her Father. Since she is from one of the older vampire families in Europe her father sends her around to do his biddings.
Physical Description: She looks rather young but she does not dress like the traditional women should. She tends to dress more like the men wearing dark colours. She does this as a way to not draw attention while she is out on the streets at night. Dante stands at 5”5 and weights about 130lbs. She has black hair that runs down to the middle of her back and dark emerald green eyes.
Personality: She is rather hard headed and stubborn but will do anything to please her family. She does not believe that humans should be slaves to their race. But her family does until she becomes head of the family or she must go with their views.
Background: Dante was turned by the man she calles her father. As an infant she was left on the streets to die. Her father took her in and turned her when she became of age (isaround sixteen years old). He did this to keep his family strong. Growing up Dante soon became her father favourite child. She has been at his side for the last 300 years serving him as his second at hand. Her father has already willed her the family if anything were to happen to him. He feels that Dante would make a strong leader in the family. Dante however does not go with her father views on how humans should be treated but she has not expressed her view to anyone but her father and he had threatened to kill her if she did not follow the family views. So for now her thoughts are hidden from everyone else for the fear of her own life and the lives of her family members.
Side: Ruling but would rather be neutral or good.

Quote:
Name: Leonardo Medici
Age: 1069
Age Appears to Be: 50-55
Race: vampire
Occupation: Family head
Physical Description: Is an older man with grey hair and light blue eyes. He dresses in a highg class manor wearing rich dark colours.
Personality: He’s a stern man who doesn’t stand for people who disobey him or go against his ideas. He dresses in a rich manor to prove that his family is of money and that they should be taken seriously. He believes that since he is from such and old vampire house that all vampires should listen to his every word for it is what will save their race.
Background: He was turned in his late twenties. Before he was turned he grew up as a farm hand collecting chicken eggs for a rich family. He turned so that he could get respect from people. Once he turned he got revenge on those who he served. He quickly grew in rank and skill as a vampire. He became family head about 700 years ago when the family head died due to a battle with those of the church. Now his plans are to let Dante become family head. She has become his favourite daughter of all the ones who he turned. She was just like him although he has become concerned when Dante told him that she does not wish to rule over the humans. He threatened her with her life after that moment she has followed his every demand and no longer spoke of wishing to have humans be of equal status to them.
Side: Ruling / Bad

NPC
Quote:
Name: High Bishop Godric Oswald Templer (meaning: “power of God”, “rule of God,” and the surname of the knights of Templar) usually called "High Bishop Godric"
Age: 57
Age Appears to Be: 53
Race: human; English
Occupation: High Bishop of the most holy order of the Church; the Clergy.
Physical Description: In some ways, he appears almost grandfatherly. He carries himself with great dignity. He has dark hair peppered with white and a neat beard. He is 5’10” (178 cm), approximately 180 lbs (82 kg). He has pale blue eyes and wears glasses.
Personality: He believes in the meaning of his names very deeply, and believes in God a great deal, often twisting biblical meaning to suit his purposes. He can be very kind and also very cruel. He drives his campaign hard and takes no quarter.
Background: He is a devote Catholic, and believes he knows the rule of God and has been gifted some of the power of God. He has studied the knights of Templar extensively, and as such, believes it is God’s will that he destroy all evil; that is vampire and the like. When he made this decision, it was before anyone he was close to was hurt by a vampire. Since then, vampires have killed all of his family (though he never had a wife or children), and the Bishop’s wrath only increased
Side: human/bad. Head of the Clergy

Quote:
Name: Lady Dilara Melanthe Valdis (meaning: “lover,” “dark flower,” and “the dead goddess”) usually referred to as "The Lady," "The Grand Lady," or "Lady Valdis"
Age: 2079
Age Appears to Be: 34
Race: vampire; some Egyptian
Occupation: the Grand Lady of the Ruling Vampires
Physical Description: 5’7” (170 cm). 127 lbs (58 kg). She is extremely beautiful and striking. Her hair is like blue obsidian; her eyes so dark a blue to appear black. She dresses only in dark colours to create a bold contrast to her pale features. When she enters a room, all eyes find her, and all speech falls silent.
Personality: She is a seductress and lover. Long ago, she chose her name for herself after years of being a vampire and traveling the lands. Her chosen surname says much about her; dark humour, powerful, revered. Dilara believes vampires to be far superior and to have the birthright to rule of humans whom she sees as pathetically weak. She is wicked to many, but her words make her followers long to do her will. A select few whom she has a closer bond to she will allow to call her "Lady Dilara."
Background: As perhaps the eldest known vampire, she holds a great deal of sway and wisdom over others of her kind. She no longer remembers her time as a mortal, but she was turned at a young age and honed her skills greatly through time. Once, she had a vampire lover who called her "Dilara." She delights in the kill.
Side: vampire/bad. Head of the Ruling Vampires

Q & A
Q: Can vampires drink the blood of animals, or just human blood?
A: Vampires can drink the blood of animals; however, they prefer human blood. Animal blood is the equivalent of disgusting, filthy food to humans.

Q: Can a character switch sides?
A: Yes

Q: Can a character be part of one side, but secretly believe more in the other side in secret?
A: Yes, but label the character's side according to their actions. If you want, you can put the side the character believes in/supports in parenthesis by that; ie: ruling (but does not believe in ruling humans.))

Q: How are vampires made?
A: A vampire must drink enough blood from a human that the human will die without major intervention. Then, the vampire must have the human drink about a cup's worth of blood (a n** in which a human tastes a few drops doesn't quite cut it). This will spur the human to be turned.

Q: Is a turned vampire tied to the vampire that turned him/her?
A: Yes, the tie between them is largely that the vampire that turned the human will watch over the newly turned vampire for a year or two and instruct him/her in the ways of the vampire and how to stay safe. Vampire families may also form, but they may or may not be related by bloodline.

Q: Can vampires drink another vampire's blood?
A: Well, yes. However, it would be like a human having a human steak for dinner. Most vampires would never do it.

Q: Can vampires age?
A: Yes, but very slowly. It works out to something like 10 years per 500 years. Some vampires may age more rapidly, some more slowly.

Q: Can vampires breed with each other?
A: No. The closest thing a vampire has to a child is a human he/she turns for the year or so following the turning.

Q: Do vampires have a reflection? Can they see it in a mirror?
A: Yes, they do, and it can be seen in a mirror. In fact, pictures can be taken of them as well.

Aisling sighed as she clambered up a rather precarious stepstool to reach a ridiculous book about the best sights in the capital by an author who was so in love with himself that he signed every single book he'd ever had published, which was a fairly good amount. Any one who thought for more than two seconds would see the man was an absolute buffoon. He had declared his undying love and devotion to at least twenty different sights, including a potato field and a rusty pink hippo statue that actually looked nothing like a hippo. Still, Aisling grabbed the book, and nearly cursed in a very Irish way, but bit her lip instead, as she stepped on her skirt and nearly toppled off the stepstool.

However, once she made it back down, she smiled politely at the nameless, accursed woman who had requested the loathed book. "Here you are, Madam. Is there anything else I can help you with?" There wasn't, until they were nearly to the register. Then Aisling was sent back to the same shelf to fetch another tourism book by the same accursed man. Aisling held her skirts up higher, ignoring the shocked look on the woman's face when Aisling's ankles showed. Only the upper class really held to the unspoken rule of women hiding their ankles with skirts (although her boots covered them quite well), but as a caterer to the upper class, Aisling too had to wear such skirts while working. Once the woman had finally paid for the over-priced worthless bits of trash, Aisling wrinkled her nose and sat down on a stool with a new book. The dark purple cover with a silvery pentagram had attracted her attention in the new shipment, so now she was perusing it before she read the other new books, for the girl had already read every book in the shop as her glasses indicated.

Dante was in her house's library when a servant entered and opened the blinds. "The sun has set," she said and left the room.
"Indeed it has," Dante said to herself. She then went to the dining hall. There in the hall was a young girl sitting at the table crying. Dante walked up to the girl. She quietly but slowly pulled the girl's hair back and off to the side. Dante lightly touched the girls neck: it was soft and warm. "I'm sorry," she whispered to the girl and then bit her neck and had her share of blood. Dante picked up her jacket from the table and walked out of the hall and manor. She put on her jacket by the time she got to the gates. It was a short walk into the city; it was there where she was told to go and watch to see what some of the other ruling vampires were doing. Her father wanted her to spy on them and what they are planning on presenting at the meeting so that he could take their ideas and discredit them or shape them into his own plans. The date of the meeting was nearing and that meant that she had to make her decision as to how she was going to save these people from pain and suffering from the other ruling vampires without being killed herself.

She found her way into a quiet bar on the outskirts of the town. Here they catered to the vampires but also functioned as a local bar; but most people avoided this place, saying that they felt uneasy there. It was a quiet and very dimly lit bar. Dante sat near the window where she could watch what was going on in the streets. She sat there with a beer in her hands, staring into the cup.

Alessio walked slowly, and confidently along the steets of the city. He was often awake and out of the castle shortly after sunset, as he prefered to feed before his superiors give him his small assignments. They were medial tasks, but he didn't mind. He was young, and still had much to learn from the elder vampires. Slowly he would ascend the ranks and become more respected, but until then, he worked as a messager.

His style of dress would immediately indicate that he was well off, and his confident stride and posture suggested this as well. Alessio also saw no reason to hide what he was, and would proudly show his fangs should anyone try and question him. He was a vampire, chosen by God, and superior to any humans that walked the earth.

He would likely take one, perhaps two victims before returning to the castle for his duties. Of course, he would not call them victims so much as sacrifices. Any human he choose should be willing to offer their blood to him. If they did, he would let them live. If they put up a fight however, he would drink every last drop. There was no place on this earth for a human that defies a vampire, and they would be left to the Good Lord to judge.

"May the Almighty Lord have mercy on your pitiful being as you rot in the bowls of Hell!"

A gun shot rang out from a cemetery behind a small church of the Clergy. Sister Neamhain Ó Lorcáin, a twenty-year-old nun, had finally cornered a vampire in that small cemetery. The bullet in her gun had hit the beast between the eyes, but she now held a large stake in her hand as she advanced. She raised her hand clutching the stake tightly, and brought it down with as much force as she could, aiming for the heart. There was a small spray of blood from the force of the hit which fell on her face and on the front of her habit, but she paid it no mind. Straightening herself, she dusted herself off. Pulling out a small notebook from the folds of her habit, she wrote down the number of the vampire she had killed and the location.

'It is now time to head back to the main Church and add this vermin to the list,' thought Sister Neamhain as she put the notebook back in its hiding place. Pressing her hands together, she began to pray in Latin as she made her way out of the cemetery. She made the sign of the cross as she exited the cemetery. She gave the priest of the small Church a small wave as she passed him. She continued down the road, blessing any human that passed her by.

Michael had paled slightly, or would have if his condition hadn't prevented him from doing so, when he heard a woman's cry as he passed by a small church. Those were words he had learned to fear. The Clergy had recently begun killing his kind, althrough he could recite his prayers better than any of the Clergy.

He began walking away from the church quickly. He would not say his prayers there this night, but he hoped his dress--that of the clergy for he was a clergyman--would protect him this night from those demons who claimed to know what evil was.

~(I swear I shall resist this more in the future, but for now, I cannot resist... twisted )~

Sister Neamhain's magical nun senses told her that something was amiss. She wheeled around and frantically began to look for what might have caused this disturbance in the Clergical Force. She lowered her head slightly, looking upwards. This gave her the look of a crazed, glaring nun on the hunt. She pulled out a pair of uzis, and began walking forwards. Then she spotted the man in Clergy clothing. In an instant, her guns were pointed at him, her fingers pressed against the trigger...

BANG!

Two flags popped out of the barrel of her guns, reading "Bang!"

"Damn thee, Father O'Shea, and thine weapons of farcery!"

~(And now, the real Sister Neamhain post. Though, I must admit, I am partial to the one above. >3)~

Sister Neamhain continued on her walk, paying attention only to the path she walked and the occasional street urchin. That was, until her stomach let out a small grumble. Gingerly placing her hand over her stomach, she blushed slightly at this small embarrassment. She looked for a place to sit and eat, so that she could continue on her journey back to the main Church of the Clergy in this town.
She then spotted a small bar and smiled. She walked towards it, but stopped when she saw her barely visible reflection in the windows. Pulling out a white handkerchief from a pocket under her habit, she spat on it and used the reflection to at least remove the spattered blood from her face. She could only imagine what she must have looked like, walking down the street covered in blood. Once she was satisfied at the removal of the beast's blood from her visage, she smiled and walked into the bar.
The bar was quiet and dimly lit. She was grateful for that, as she would not be able to remove the smattering of red from her black habit until she returned to the Church. She sat at a small table and laced her fingers together, resting her hands on the table.
