I haven't seen any other threads, and I thought I'd throw it out... A lot of Witches like adorning their bodies with piercings, or tattoos. The topic itself has been covered in many New Age texts, but I am curious on the opinions others here might have on this.
Would you get a tattoo/piercing to celebrate your Witchyness?
Have you already done so?
Do you feel there is an appropriate age for having something done, and if so, when is it?
Also, a different angle I thought was interesting--Maturity level. If someone clearly has a level of maturity far beyond their years, does this make a difference on the appropriate age of someone?
Personal preferences on size, design, subject?

I would really like to hear all thoughts...

I won't ever get a tattoo, I believe its a violation to the body, plus I imagin myself with wrinkled skin at 60...and a tattoo...anyways, the real reason is I am afraid of needles...I'll cry. But I don't need tattoos when I have marking on my body....a star on my hand and the pentagram on my chest. *shakes head* I don't need tattoos now.

Ditto that. I don't quite see it as a 'violation' of the body, but I see the body as beautiful as it is. My main issue with getting a tatoo is that, plus I know I would not want the same design on my a** or something for more than a year. I think I'd rather use temporary tatoos, gel-pens, or body paint. As an artist, I like to do the design myself and change it to what I see fit.

I am getting a tatoo at the end of the summer if I pass my black belt test. I am getting it on my sholder and of the phoenix which is my dojo symbol. I hope to continue on with other forms of martial arts and get other black belts but chidokwan karate will always be my first, and greatest accomplishment. The phoenix also means a lot to me for personal reasons. My spirit animal is in the form of a phoenix and I love every thing that the phoenix represents. I think that a tatoo reguardless of what it is should mean something to you. I doutb that in 100 years I would ever look back and think that I made a mistake getting a tatoo of my phoenix karate symbol. It just means too much to me. No matter what I do in my life I will always be a martial artist and that will always be apart of me. Tatoos what mean nothing are stupid to me. Then again when the tatoo has to do with religion I would wait because religion can change. I would atleast wait till I am around 30 to get a tatoo reguarding my religion because I could change. I had a teacher once who said never to be set in your ways. Everything could change. The only people he said should be set in there ways are the very old and should only not change views on a select few things.

My tattoo isn't really wiccan related, but the night before I got it I did a ritual to cleanse myself and mark this event as a new begining. I got metalic wings tattooed on my back and I use them often when working spells or meditating. Through visualization I see the wings as an actual entity and they help me ground and center, work with energy, ect. Also when meditating I find it easy to "fly" or transform into a bird, I dunno if the wings help or not though .. heres a piccy:

Not only do I like the concept but it looks good, too. Beauty never hurt anyone!...afterwards xd .

I have 7 peircings and I wear a pentagram earring sometimes. My ex boyfriend gave it to me.
I'm not old enough to get a tatto but both my aunt and mother do. My mom has two stars on her ankles and my aunt has her own special symbol. I don't know what to call my aunts symbol though razz It's her own.

The wings are cool... 3nodding and I like the fact u visulise them, thats cool too....

but, I don't think I would get wings or a big tat, like that just small ones, on my ankles.... and feet, and back, so I could cover them....

I wouldn't get on on my stomach, coz if ur pregnant it will stretch... and yeah.. lol

@ inblood_isoak: Do you wear earring when doing rituals and spells? I have 5 peircings and I used to take them out when I did rituals, but now I don't bother. I guess its because when I first started I was all for doing it skyclad and having no distractions, but sence I moved into my new apartment I have a new set up and am not comfortable getting nakie in my "backyard" and won't subject my roomie to that .. lol

@ Lilah-Clover: hehe .. I understand totally why you'd want a smaller tattoo .. But since I already started .. why not keep going yeah? lol .. I'm hoping to one day get multible birds flying up my leg in a wide array of colors with the same style metalic wings and if I find a prayer that is truely perfect I want to get that tattooed on my back in glow in the dark ink .. so nobody will see it except me and the fact that I know its there makes it worth it. But tattoos are so addicting. Once you get one, I dunno how you can just stop and not want to get more. <3 It just feels good.

Nose piercings are supposed to be the hardest to care for--at least up there, anyway. I was gonna get mine done, but 1) my parents would be furious, 2) I have bad allergies, 3) I have a decent sized freckle right where it would be, anyway xd

I'm getting my 6th (3rd in right ear) this fall, and want to get the cartilage done there, too. Then *crosses fingers* I'm done. hehehe....

....and I also used to take them out to do ritual stuffs, but now I wear ritual-esque jewelry, instead. ^^

I don't think I'd ever get a tattoo to represent my religion. I am planning on getting a tattoo after I turn 18, though. It's going to be a Welsh Red Dragon, in the small of my back. I've always loved dragons, and I feel kind of close to them...if that makes any sense at all...Besides that, Dad says his family is part Welsh somewhere along the line...lol. So it's a bit of a representation of part of my heritage.

And as far as piercings go, I have one in each ear, but I want to get at least one more in the cartilage and I've thought about getting my lip pierced. Haven't decided on the lip piercing yet, though...

Oh just remember that if you get a tat on the small of your back you can't get that hardcore pain killer shot when giving birth without messing up the beloved tattoo!

I was gonna say...

That's one of the main reasons I'm not getting one there... well, and the fact that I want to be able to see it... xd

I only wear it everyone and a while. It doesn't dangle so I get paranoid that It might be upside-down.
