Aramis Ira

Gender: Male

Personality: Aramis was destined for trouble the day he was born. He practically has a duel personality of being sweet and innocent one moment, and then a little devil the next who is capable of any sort of prank known to man. In his older years, he will likely be a bit of an anarchist in his personality, because he hates it when authority figures or anyone tells him what to do. The only people he will listen to are his mother, grandmother and grandfather, everyone else, he may like, but won’t listen to. He doesn’t specifically hate or dislike anyone, he just has fun tormenting people. Really, he’s quite playful and running away and getting caught is all part of the game.

He will never hide that he has done something bad. If asked, he won’t deny what he has done, no matter how awful. He will say he’s sorry, and then he’ll go off and do it again without a second thought. Though he will never pull the same prank twice. Or ever do something even close to being as boring as what he did the last time. His essentially philosophy of life is that the more mistakes he makes, the more exciting his life will be. He wants to do everything in life he’s not supposed to, because he thinks that will make him the best person he can be.

Though Aramis can be a little jerk, he isn’t actually a bad person at all. Those he makes friends with, often after he’s pranked them, he is undyingly loyal to, and will protect no matter what. The people who care about him, he will never betray. Aramis never cares about what these people might think about him, because he knows that the people he really loves will never stop loving him no matter what he does. He isn’t shy and is really quite outgoing, and he doesn’t judge people.

Aramis never loses his cool, even in the face of total jerks, unless his mother or grandparents are threatened. Then, he totally loses it. If people question his mother’s ability to raise him, then he’ll essentially try to kill them. Anything else tends to roll off of him like water. He takes punishments without complaining. He’ll even take blame for things he didn’t do if it means helping his friends or family. He would take the blame for murder without blinking. He tends to take most things in stride.

Really, Aramis is a mommy’s boy who likes to have fun.

Child Appearance: (just thoughts) The first thing noticeable about Aramis is that he has wings that look like those of angels, one that is white (on the left) and one that is black (on the right) and that are so large that they can cover him from head to toe. Because of these wings, Aramis’ bones are hollow, making them easy to break, but that also gives him the ability to fly.

Aramis has hair that is mostly black but is full of white highlights, and his skin is about as pale as a dove. His hair falls down to just past his shoulders and he keeps it in a loose ponytail, but his bangs have a bad habit of falling out and hanging in his face constantly, making him brush them out of the way. When his favorite feathers fall out, he has a tendency of braiding them into his hair, and remove them when they get too old. His hair is dead straight and wispy, and often looks like it’s blowing in the wind… even when there is no wind to speak of. His fine ears, he also decorates with feathers that have gone missing, though this is more likely to come about when he is a teenager.

Aramis has an angel’s looks to match his wings. He’s so pretty that some people might accidentally say “What a pretty little girl!” which doesn’t really bother him. He tends to keep himself well-groomed, and is very neat and tidy, which is a little like the opposite of his mother, when it comes to looks. He is very tall and lean, and actually has the body of a swimmer, instead of a flyer.

His eyes are so blue that they are almost white, giving them a crystal look, and his face is also very bird-like in nature, as are the shape of his eyes, and the look of his hands and feet (a little more claw-like than normal people).

Clothing: As a baby, Aramis should wear cloud pajama bottoms but no shirt, since they tend to get in the way of his wings. He wears a small necklace with a golden locket with a picture of Cherry and him inside it. He carries a small blue fuzzy teddy bear.

As a child, Aramis will favor black jeans that are a little too big for him, and white vests that don’t have backs so that they don’t hurt his wings. He will be unable to wear normal shirts for his entire life, since they won’t fit through any holes. They’re just too big. So he either goes shirtless, or wears backless shirts. He still wears the necklace, and will likely forever. He will still have his teddy bear tied to his waist on a belt. He gets his first ear-piercing at this age.

As a teen, Aramis starts to prefer mostly black and white clothing, more specifically tight black jeans. Again for shirts, he can’t wear backs, so he usually goes without, but when he has no choice but to wear them, they are low-cut V-necks that show off as much of his skin as possible, including his belly. He will also still wear the necklace, but lose the bear at this age. He will have ears like pin-cushions that could set off a metal detector from a mile away. A real bad-boy look. He doesn’t wear sleeves unless they are fingerless gloves.

As an adult Aramis won’t change a whole lot. He’ll still be a rebel, but he might lose some of his earrings, and his clothes might get a bit more respectable, but just a bit, and he’ll still like black and white best. He might wear a tie, and maybe a blouse that he cuts the upper back out of so that his wings have room. He still wears the necklace. He might add some arm bangles at this point.

Note: Aramis hates shoes, and will never wear them, and if forced, he will wear sandals every day of the year.

Likes: His mother, his family, making trouble, helping out other kids, dancing in the rain, flying, and swimming

Dislikes: Shoes, authority figures, misunderstanding people, his uncle

Magic: Aramis has the ability to call on both the powers of light and darkness, which makes him a bit of a paradox, not only in powers, but personality. His powers could go either to darker purposes, or for the greater good, depending mostly on how his childhood turns out. However, he will likely be very powerful and someone to watch out for either way. No matter how he turns out, he will likely be more of a fighter than an academic, since his teachers will probably hate him. No doubt, even if he turns out evil, he will use these powers to protect his mother from his uncle. He can focus this energy into orbs that can destroy buildings, create blazes of darkness and light, blind his enemy, or form objects.

Guardian Background:

Name: Cherry Ira

Gender: Female

Job: Electrician

Magic: Can control electrical currents

Appearance: Cherry has dark red hair, she’s about 5’6 and weighs around 120lbs, and has dark green eyes. Her red hair goes down to her shoulders and is very wavy (as in ocean at height of tsunami wavy). She usually wears her hair in a bun or a ponytail. She has very pale skin. She rarely tries to look like anything other than she is, a hard worker. She isn’t especially athletic, and is instead slightly built from lifting her own work. She is very pretty, though not especially beautiful since she doesn’t try to be.

Clothing: Cherry goes for the grunge look for the most part. Over-alls for work with a long black shirt, with a tool belt always nearby. She always wears sneakers that look like they’re going to fall apart, and either forgets to put on socks, or never wears a matching pair. Outside of work she wears long shirts that can be substituted for short dresses, and rarely pants. They’re usually old, like the shoes, and fairly worn. On the rare, rare, rare, occasion she will wear pants, they’re too big, or filled with holes. Her clothes give the general impression that she doesn’t care about herself, but really she just hates shopping.

Personality: Cherry can be a little eccentric, but most people think that she’s fun. She’s outgoing, sweet, and has a winning personality. She loves so many people that she could never quite decide on who to love, and she could never date long because she couldn’t accept a relationship that required her to stop loving everyone else. She adores her family to the ends of the Earth, and always wanted a child of her own, but because she could never find ‘the one’ she never had one of her own. She has a few odd quirks, but no one dislikes her that she knows. She is forgiving, doesn’t hold grudges, and the people she befriends could kill her and she would forgive them.

Likes: Her job, meeting new people, family parties, using magic, her family, making lavish dinners

Dislikes: People hating her, shopping, loud music, people hating each other for no reason, violence

History: Cherry grew up knowing that she had magic which was very, very rare in her family, and they were all happy to find that this magic had to do with electricity, so she was very helpful in the family business. Her brother hated her for it, and they never got along despite Cherry’s multiple attempts to gain her brother’s love. She succeeded at everything she did, and he always seemed to fail. It turned out, he also failed in attempting to kill her. At seventeen, Cherry had to go to the hospital for years to be able to regain her ability to walk after the fall. She had to have several reconstructive surgeries, and lost the ability to have children forever. Her brother was sentenced to twenty-five years in prison. Cherry forgave him, but he swore that once he got out of jail, he would finish what he had started. Eventually, Cherry found out about the cabbage children and found that she would love to have someone of her own to care for that would always be there with her. Then she met Aramis, and her life changed forever, and she has never regretted it for one second, though she is ever-fearful that when her brother gets out of prison he will try to take away her new happiness.

Family:

Name: Nathaniel Ira
About: Cherry’s father, he owns the electrician business Cherry works for, and looks almost identical to his daughter except that his hair is turning white. They share a lot of traits, like hating shopping and loving their families, however Nathaniel tends to be very cynical, though he is just as accepting as his daughter. Though he sees Aramis as a bit of a trouble maker, he doesn’t mind the boy, and he tends to treat him as though he were his own son.

Name: Magenta Ira
About: Cherry’s mother, who is much darker in complexion, but that is changing as she gets older and starts to get her own grey hair. She gave her daughter a lot of her more dainty nature. Magenta is almost identical to Cherry in terms of loving people. She’s essentially a living saint who does secretary work for her husband. Unlike her daughter, she is very organized. She lavishes affection on Aramis and likes to make him things. If other adults say cruel things about him, she is the first to step up, even over her daughter, to protect him.

Name: Bram Ira
About: Cherry’s older brother by four years. The black sheep of the family, Bram never showed promise in anything he did, but his parents loved him. He felt jealous of Cherry and her magic talent that he and the rest of the family lacked. Eventually, when Cherry was fourteen years old, Bram pushed her off a cliff in hopes that he could become the new center of attention in the family. This failed, and he is currently in jail for attempted murder, and though his sister has forgiven him, Bram has sworn that when he gets out, he will destroy her and all she holds dear.

[Writing Sample:

Prompt: Aramis is up to his old tricks, but this time he’s going to get caught. When he’s a child, and the first time he faces serious consequences where his mother is called into it.

Response: The sun glinted high in the sky. It was a clear day, early morning when most stores were only just opening up. Aramis had gotten up early for just that reason, leaving his comfortable, albeit messy room through the window to take off into the sky, spreading his winds in flight that let the wind cool his face as he looked out over the city. A city that was just waiting for trouble. The very thought of that made him smile when he landed on the orange roof of a white building, looking at a small cluster of homes that made the child give a small giggle.

His hair fell around his face, sunlight glinting off of the white streaks of his hair, and from the gold locket he wore around his neck. He had skipped the shirt that day and stuck to his comfortable black jeans with his blue teddy bear, the fuzz starting to fall apart, still attached to his belt. He stood tall on his bare feet and looked down on the street. He tapped his toes against the roof, wrapping his wings around his shoulders as he swayed back and forth, covering his mouth to suppress the giggles that were already starting to form as the idea in his head began to take over him like the vengeful spirit that drove their hosts to death. But Aramis felt a different kind of drive when he saw unsuspecting people living their boring old lives. He wanted to make things more exciting and stir things up. People would thank him later, when they understood that he had just given them a great story to tell all their friends.

Aramis waited patiently. An hour. Two hours. The shop venders put out their wares on the street, and Aramis played with his teddy bear on the roof, giggling as he waited. Waited. Waited. Then, all at once, the venders were gone. Inside to get what was left of their wares for outdoor display. Aramis’ heart pumped blood so quickly, and his adrenaline went so far through the roof that he almost fell off his perch. Which was alright, because he needed to get off the roof to put his plan into action.

He dove, huge wings spreading, almost bigger than his body as he swooped down, plenty of wind kicking up, knocking every single ware from its place, breaking more than half of them from over thirty shops along the street as he went, making women scream as he flew under their skirts, and men yelp when he would fly right up to their faces and pull out of the way at the very last second before he would have hit them, or hurt them in some way. He would never physically injure someone if he could avoid it. But it was funny to scare them.

People started screaming and chasing him down the street, men waving canes or sticks, venders getting bags or nets to throw over the boy who had essentially taken away an entire day of work, plus their wares without even trying.

Aramis couldn’t help but notice that it took forever to make things, but almost nothing at all to break them.

How long the chase went on, he couldn’t say, but he started to get really excited when he heard police sirens. Police! Someone had called the police! This was great! A chase! He was flying! This would be amazing! He would get on television and his mother would see him! Maybe his grandparents would videotape the whole thing!

“This is so cool!” He exclaimed, before his almost white eyes caught what was set up in front of him in the sky. Two police helicopters! …carrying a net. Headed straight for him. Too close and too fast to escape, “…Uh-oh…”

He hit the net full force, and somehow he got the feeling that his little adventure was over. Though he was certainly willing to bet that it was worth it.

~~

Four hours later, after sitting in the police station while very, very amused, or upset police officers gave him drinks and food, his mother finally came. She looked a little bit tired, but she lit up the moment she saw him, making her young face look ten years younger. She had clearly not been in to work yet, probably because she had been sick with worry. She wore a long black shirt over top of a ratty old pair of blue jeans that had so many holes; they might as well not have existed. Her hair was pulled back off her face, showing off the smile that made Aramis so happy.

“Mom! Hi!” He waved to her, making the detectives look at her. One smiled, the other just shook his head and sighed.

“Aramis you little devil you,” Cherry smiled, coming over and sitting beside him, resting her head on his shoulder, “Can you tell me when you’re running off next time? I had to see that you were still alive on the news.”

“Don’t be frightened mommy,” Aramis shook his head, handing her his bear, “See? You can have teddy to make you feel better. I would never let someone take me away.”

“Absolutely,” Cherry nodded back at him, “I would light them up like a Christmas tree if they tried to hurt you.”

One of the officers cleared his throat, clearly unimpressed, “Ma’am, do you know exactly what your son did today?”

“Yes, I’m sorry officer, he’s young,” Cherry apologized, “he didn’t know any better.”

“Don’t listen to her officer,” Aramis interrupted almost right away, “my mom didn’t know what I was doing. I was just being a silly child, I shouldn’t have done it, and I feel awful for what I did. But please, don’t act like it’s my mom’s fault.”

“Oh Aramis…” Cherry smiled and ran her fingers through his hair, “Don’t take all this blame on yourself darling. It isn’t fair to you. I’m your mother, I’m supposed to know what you’re doing.”

“Mom, come on, it’s not your fault. I’m such a trouble maker and I’m always causing problems for you… please don’t be mad at me mommy, please? You’re all I have in the world,” Aramis looked up at her with pleading eyes.

“Oh son…You’re so cute!” Cherry exclaimed, flinging her arms around him and his bear without an ounce of guilt.

The police could only watch and blind.

“…is this kid playing his mom and us… or is she playing us and him?” The female officer asked, flabbergasted, “Or… are they both actually like this normally?”

The male officer shook his head, “I have no idea… Ma’am? Ma’am? You do know you’ll have to pay for the wares that your son broke, don’t you?”

“NO!” Aramis said almost instantly, a flash of protectiveness in his eyes, which settled almost instantly, back into his innocent smile, “I’ll work at every store to pay off my debt. I won’t ask my mom to do it for me. I want to be able to say I’m sorry to the owners personally.”

The police blinked, not sure how to respond to that, while Aramis’ mother just tussled his hair, “That’s my boy. You’re so responsible Aramis.”

“Only because I have such a cool mom,” Aramis glowed back up at her, his face a beam of sunlight that would have blinded the detectives if it had been real.

“…okay then, we’ll… just talk to the owners then…” The police woman responded, not sure what else to do. She and her partner walked out of the room and she looked over at him, “I think we were just completely played by those two.”

~~

“You really shouldn’t do things like this Aramis.” Cherry mentioned as they walked outside the station, both of them pausing for a moment.

“I know, but… I have fun, and things that get broken can always get fixed,” Aramis smiled up at his mother, holding up his hand, “Still love me?”

His mother smiled and gave him a high-five, “And don’t you ever forget it kiddo.”
