Rules 1) Follow TOS 2) No profile posting is needed to RP, however, I will not accept any gods/goddess/sons of the devil or any other god-like entity. Sorry, but I don't have the proper furnishings for such creatures in my little inn. smile 3) Any race is welcome (other than the ones mentioned above), however, if you are a vampire and a vampire hunter happens to walk in, the tavern owner (aka Me) is not responsible for their action. 4) Follow rules of the forum (PG-13, no godmoding, etc.) 5) Literate-like posts please. None of the "*walks in* Hi". 6) You are allowed at least one to two NPCs if you want, but no more. Don't want us to get confused at who's talkin' to who, you know? 7) Fighting is allowed, however, like every tavern owner, I prefer you take it outside. Break something and I'll jump in and attempt to break something as well...something that doesn't belong to me :p 6) Have fun.
The sky was gray and dull. It was winter near the mountain range west of Barton Town. The trees have already turned their color and lost their precious leaves, leaving only their silent skeleton remains along the dirt road. Not many travelled during this time period because of the weather; others didn't travel during this time frame because of those that did. It was a dangerous world outside Barton or any of the other large cities in the land.
In order to provide some safe haven, small board homes have been created and scattered along the realm, providing the essentials that every wary traveller needed. Either it be food, drinks, or a place to rest, these homes would provide...of course for a fee. Though as time passed by, these homes quickly became forgotten as other means of travel became avalible, leaving only a handful of these safe havens around.
Tavern of the Lost Soul was one of the last. Its location was at the crossroad that lead to Barton and the mountain pass. Not many visit it as of late, but nevertheless, it remains open. Its a three story brick building, with at least three windows at each floor. Inside, it could host for at least fifty people and accomidate about two in a room with twelve bedrooms on the second and third floor.
Upon entering, many of the guests would come across a simple hallway with a counter facing the front door. Behind the counter a door that connected to the kitchen and the bar in the other room. With two open passages at either side, one will notice one room is like a dining area/tavern while at the opposite passage way is a large living area furnished with leather couches and chairs as well as a small shelf filled with a variety of books. Next to the clerk's counter is the stairwell that climbs up to the other floors of the house.
"Dammit! Why is it always cold in here?!" A man dressed in black grumbled as he used an iron poker against the dying embers of the fireplace inside the living area. Sighing to himself, he rested the poker against the stone frame of the fireplace, the man turned around and gazed out the window into the dreary scenary outside. His dark brown eyes narrowed as he gave a gruff and walked towards the dining quarter of the home. "Probably because you never feed the fire enough wood, eh?" A young woman mused from behind the bar, her hands gently wiping off any streaks on the glasses set beneath the counter. She had her hair tied up and a cheerful expression that seemed to be glued on her smooth tan skin face. With eyes gazing at absolutely nothing, the woman continued to clean while humming a melody. "Man...it has been forever since someone has came here. I wonder if the roads have gotten that bad, eh?" She wondered again, this time more to herself than the man in black.
Shrugging off her question, the man gave another gruff as he went back to the living room. "Probably gotten worse. Haven't seen much merchants wandering any more as well as any other type of travellers..." The man closed his eyes for a moment as he threw in another piece of log into the fireplace. Quickly flames began to eat at it like a monster, sending off heat back into the building.
"Hey! Marcus! Do you know when will be the next time you'll head to town? I don't want to be stuck here all my life, you know!" Shouted woman as she paused in her cleaning. She slowly raised her view towards the window in the room and watched as a thin frail tree swayed under a strong gust.
The man named Marcus grunted at the request as he ran his hand through his dark matted hair, shaking his head. "Someone's gotta watch the house..." He grumbled beneath his breath as he waltz to a leather chair near the fireplace. "Also, I don't think the world is ready for you to be out there, Keri..." A smirk played across his face upon saying this as his attention fell upon the dance of the flame.

((I assume/hope we're allowed to post now...)) A man (or at least, what appeared to be a man) poked his head into the door. He had green eyes that were oddly tinted: almost yellow, one might say. He had brown hair that was clearly ungroomed but still didn't look too bad, as it was short. His face wasn't quite dirty but wasn't quite clean, either; he looked around early adult in age. "Hey, is this place open?" said the head from the doorway, facing what appeared to him to be the elder of the two inside.

"Yes it is." the elder replied. "Please, come in." The brown haired man nodded and headed inside, closing the door behind him. After taking something to eat, he asked for a drink from Keri. She smiled and handed him a mug of beer (A/N: I hope that's okay). Though no conversation took place for a time, everyone seemed to occupy themselves by doing something, like staring at the flames of the fireplce, for example. Soon enough, outside the snow began to fall. It grew rather cold there, despite the hot flames burning in the fireplce. Then, a light knocking on the tavern door was heard and a teen-aged girl wearing a large cloak came in, her light-brown hair tangled with melting ice, her one blue eye and one gray eye looking aorund the place. "Ahem." Keri cleared her throat, as if expecting her to introduce herself. "Oh...." The girl said softly. "Sorry... um... is this an Inn by any chance?"

((Oi, Allenia La Fayette, I hope you aren't going to be RPing my characters through out this tavern :p also I'm not an old man xD I'm just grumpy. And Xindaris, you can post what your character wants and such.))
Marcus nodded to Keri to snap out of her daze and take care of the customer as he turned his attention to the woman who came in from the cold. "Oi, shut the door and come in. Don't want to kill the fire, do ya?" The black haired man shouted from the dining area. Turning his attention to the the brown haired man, the owner gave a weak smile and nodded his head.
"Keri here will be serving you, sir." Turning around and heading towards the man hall of where the teenage girl was, the dark character gave a bow in respect to her. "Greetings and welcome to the Lost Soul Tavern and Inn." Glancing up from his bow, the man noticed her eyes and held a strange smirk. "I'm guessing you're here for a room?"
With that, the dark figure glided behind the clerk counter and picked out a room key from a hidden compartment. "Don't worry about paying. We do that when you turn the key in. Its 50 gold first night and 10 gold after that." Placing the key within reach of the woman, the man glanced at her eyes once more with his own brown eyes. "The name is Marcus and if you are in need of anything. Do tell."

He came in once told it was alright, and sat at the bar. He was wearing clearly traveler's clothes, though rather weathered, all of which was a tannish color or at least had been at first. He said, "My name's Xien, good to meet you. What sort of meat might you have here, and at what price?" ((The name's pronounced like "Zane", in case you're curious.))

The woman behind the bar stopped cleaning the empty glasses and turned her attention to the traveller. Her smile grew as her almond eyes studied the man. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Xien. I'm Keri and will be your server. As for the meats, well, since not many merchants come by, we got chicken, salted pork that I could cook up, and some steak, though the steak will cost about 35 gold pieces, the other meals are simply 10. With your meal is your choice of sides: Mash potatoes, rice, some greens, and...um..." She paused as he put her index finger on her check, thinking of what was the last side they usually served.
From the hallway, Marcus shouted. "Mac and Cheese!" A sigh follwed his shout as he turned to the girl and nodded his head to her. "Sorry. Keri tends to always forget the last side dish. Ma'm, would you also like something to drink or eat?" He questioned to the woman as he finished writing something in his book.

Xien said, "I think I'd prefer just a steak, no sides." He handed her thirty-five gold pieces, and grinned. "Medium rare, if you allow that sort of ordering."

Keri gave a warm smile as she gave a quick nod to the traveler's request. With that, the woman quickly went to the back room where the cooking area was. Once there, she automatically started the stove as she went to the small freezer they had in the back. Openning it, she pulled out a large steak and grabbed a pan. With that, she quickly started cooking, cutting a corner to make sure she could monitor how well cook it was.
"Man...what's taking Marcus so long?" She grumbled out loud as she flipped the meat, making sure it wasn't cooking all the way.

((I really hope it's OK to RP here?))
Staggering through the doors of the tavern, chains biting at her wrists, Harra looked around, hoping she would chance upon someone, but it seemed unlikely. If only Master Vadim was around, although he was hateful and cruel, but she still adored him. She sat in a more shadowed corner of the bar, although she was only fifteen, her once black hair was graying quick, and her face was wrinkled, lined, and weathered.
Taking a seat at the couch in the corner, Harra looked around, taking a Journal out of her rucksack, and writing in it with what seemed like crimson ink.

While Marcus continued to tell the other woman about her room, his attention went to the door as another femme waltz in from the winter wonderland outside. Raising a brow briefly, the man turned to her and gave a nod and a "Welcome to the Inn." With that, he let her walk to the bar area and turned his attention to the woman, wondering if she was going to take the room or not. Inside though, he prayed she would. Innkeeper needed money.
After about twenty minutes of cooking, Keri came out with her hair tied up and a warm plate with a steak on it. On the outside, it was a light brown while from the looks at the small cut portion, the center was still a little pink as it transend to the light brown outside. Sighing, the woman rested the plate in front of the male and gave a small bow as she swept her hand over the gold pieces, causing them to vanish out of sight.
"Enjoy your meal, kind sir." She replied as her periphral caught sight of a newcomer. Giving another bow to the man, she turned her attention to the young woman at the corner. "Good evening, miss! Um...would you like to order something?"

Harra's attention went to the speaker. "If it would be OK, a glass of Water wold be OK." Her voice had started to turn raspy from dehydration, it was a normal occurrance for Harra to beome dehydrated, but she hated it to the next demension.

Xien nodded a thanks, and then cut and picked up a small part of the meat, putting it into his mouth with a hand. He chewed it thoroughly rather fast, one might think, and on looking at him one might notice his teeth looked sharper than normal, but where he paused to speak or smile at someone they were just ordinary teeth, so one might assume one was seeing things.

Acknowledging the little girl's request for water, Keri quickly disappeared with a clean glass in her hand into the back kitchen only to reappear in a matter of seconds with the glass filled with the clear liquid. Gently resting it at the corner of the table, the waitress gave a small little bow to the girl.
"Ask if you need anything else, dear." With that, she slipped away to check on the other traveler eating his steak. Smiling, the woman paused and watched briefly as the man ate the meat. "Is everything good with you, sir?" She questioned as she gave a gentle smile upon her beautiful face.
Marcus, after explaining to the girl that her room was in second floor to the right, left the key on the counter and walked through the back door behind the counter to the kitchen then finally to the bar area. Studying his patrons, the dark haired man gave a sigh as he waltz around the wooden bar counter to sit on one of the stools the customers would usually take their place.
Glancing over to the female and her writing, his attention fill back towards the gentlemen hastenly eating his meal. Slowly the brown eyes of the man narrowed as he slipped a couple seats closer to the man. "Enjoying that steak, sir?" Marcus questioned, his voice becoming monotoned as his face became solemn.
