Though some of Shakespeare's plays shouldn't even be compared, they're so drastically different,I thought I'd ask everyone for their favorite(or least favorite,if you want!) of his plays, and your reason why.My favorite is Twelfth Night(so far).I just get such a kick out of the extreme stereotyped characters (like Malvolio the strict puritan and Sir Toby Belch the scoundrel drunkard),the terribly messed up plot, confused lovers and witty jester Feste.I've been fortunate enough to see it performed live twice(one was a modern rendition),and done extremely well both times. So let me know what you think!

I think my favorite Shakespeare play is 'The Tempest'. I adore Ariel and I think the love story in is one of the sweetest the Bard ever wrote.

Macbeth, most definitely. I love the way Macbeth and Lady Macbeth interact with one another, and I especially like the scene where Lady Macbeth sleepwalks.

My least favorite is Romeo and Juliet, because everyone knows the story and so many cliches are drawn from it that it becomes overdone and almost over-simplified. As soon as someone sees a couple kissing, they automatically say, "Hey there, Romeo and Juliet." I feel almost as if people don't appreciate RAJ as much because of that.

I'd say Macbeth or Hamlet. My second after those would be Romeo & Juliet, I hated it when I started because I did think it would just be full of cliches and an irritating love story, but I think if you go deeper under that it's such a beautiful play. There's a lot more to it than just the characters of Romeo and Juliet.

My favorite Shakespeare play would have to be either Romeo and Juliet or Twelfth Night.

I think my favorite is Much Ado About Nothing, and second is The Tempest. I saw The Tempest preformed at the Swan Theater in Straford last summer, and it was amazing!!! heart Patrick Stewart from Star Trek played Prospero.

That's a toughie...I think right now it'd be a hard three way tie between 12th Night, Midsummer, and Much Ado. ^_^ Though I also have a soft spot for As You Like It and Comedy of Errors.

I just watched Much Ado About Nothing- with Denzel Washington and Kenue Reeves. Sorry Kenue Reeves should not do Shakespeare!!!- then read the play *easier for me to understand * Then watched the move again. I must say as of right now it is my favorite!!!
I love the constable!!! He was hilarious!!! "Are you good men and true?"
**** "I do not see how sleeping should offend."
Then of course there is Benedick and Beatrice. I love their lines!!!
"No! The world must be peopled!!!" Benedick said that to convince himself that he should marry Beatrice.
Anyway I love how Shakespeare put things!!!
Now I am reading Twelfth Night.

I have to say Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, The Merchant of Venice, and Hamlet!
The 4 most popular ones I think are Romeo and Juliet (ranked as first), Macbeth, Antony and Cleopatra, and A Midsummer Night's dream (all ranked as second)! I have seen them on tv! I read the first two, but I'm going to read the second two!

I'm not sure that was quite a modern rendition...it wasn't all in Shakespearean dress, but some of the clothes certainly weren't modern either. More like a scrambled psycho rendition, clothing-wise. But that fits the story. smile
