Crossing Paths This thread is for the discussion between the similarities of Karin and Haruno Sakura.Also for, the upcoming interaction between the two.I've found alot of schocking similarities between Karin and Sakura.
Similarities
- Karin has a crush on Sasuke.Sakura started off with a crush on Sasuke, and it turned into love.Sakura's feelings are still unclear for Sasuke.
- Karin is one of Sasuke's comrades.Sakura was a former comrade of Sasuke.
- Karin and Sakura have similar personalities, and split personalities.
- Both their names have something to do with a fruit/flower.
- Both of them have a unique hair color.Both their hair color is based of their name meaning.

Bio: Karin (香燐, Karin?) is a former subordinate of Orochimaru who assisted him in his experimentations and was left in charge of one of his bases while he was away; and was also the only one loyal to Orochimaru to remain even though his current status was questionable. She has an unusual hairstyle; her hair is short and unkempt on one side, and long and combed on the other. Karin will at times appear tough and in control and other times she is flirtatious. Karin's name means 'intense sulfur' and is also a homonym for the fruit 'quince'.
Sasuke Uchiha recruits her as a member of Snake. While Sasuke admits she may be troublesome, he also notes that her special abilities make her useful. She also seems to have a liking for Sasuke, implying to Sasuke that a team consisting of the two of them would be much better than one with Suigetsu or Jugo. Suigetsu noted that something once happened between her and Sasuke though what this means remains unclear, since she punches Suigetsu before he can finish his sentence.
Karin's special ability allows her to track specific individuals through chakra, seen when she is able to discern that Jugo is not among a crowd of prisoners through the standard concentration pose for molding chakra. It also allows her to pick up chakra from long distances and notice changes in an individual's chakra.

Bio:Sakura Haruno (春野サクラ, Haruno Sakura?) She is a member of Kakashi Hatake's Team 7, originally consisting of herself, Naruto Uzumaki, and Sasuke Uchiha.
Independent of her feelings for her teammates, Sakura's holding of herself sees a change during Part I. While she does not realize it at the time, Sakura's initial role is guarding Team 7's object of interest while Naruto, Sasuke, and Kakashi fight off any hostile forces. It is not until the second phase of the Chunin Exams that Sakura realizes how unfavorable this role is, as she is the sole protector of her defeated teammates during an attack by the Sound Genin.
Although she attempts to fend them off with a series of preset traps, her efforts prove futile against the Genin team and Kin Tsuchi is able to grab Sakura by the hair and immobilize her. As Kin condescends her for putting more effort into her appearance than her ninja abilities, Sakura becomes distraught that people are always fighting for her because she can't fight for herself. Deciding to change this, Sakura cuts off her hair with a kunai to free herself from Kin's grasp and does all in her power to battle the Sound Genin, buying enough time for reinforcements to arrive. Karin's name means "intense sulfur" and "Quince".Sakura's name means Cherry Blossoms.
A quince, known as Japanese Quince in Japan, is a fruit that grows in Japan.A Cherry is a fruit that is grown world wide.The first simularity is the fruit's in the name.Both Karin's, and Sakura's name has something to do with a fruit.Also if you look at their names, and you will find that they are both flowers.
Japanese Quince
The species have become a popular ornamental shrubs in parts of Europe and North America, grown in gardens for their bright flowers. Some cultivars grow up to 2 m tall, but others are much smaller and creeping.
They are also suitable for cultivation as a bonsai.The fruit are very hard and astringent and very unpleasant to eat raw, though they do soften and become less astringent after frost (when they are said to be "bletted"). They are, however, suitable for making liqueurs, as well as marmalade and preserves, as they contain more pectin than apples and true quinces. The fruit also contain more vitamin C than lemons (up to 150 mg/100 g).
Cherry
The word cherry refers to both the tree and the fleshy fruit that consists of enclosing a single hard stone seed, otherwise known as a drupe. SPLIT PERSONALITIES
While the gllasses are away, Karin will play.If all aren't aware Karin has split personalties.One minute she will say something, and the next she will say she never said it.When Karin take's off her glasses, she's like a hole differnt person.Usally Karin is nerdy, and acts all spunky.Then with out the glasses, she shows a side that is suductive and innocent.
Within Sakura resides an "Inner Sakura", a manifestation of her inner emotions that, aside from comic relief, serves as a representation of Sakura's actual opinion on things when she outwardly displays something opposite. Inner Sakura's appearances are typically marked by an exclamation of "Shānnarō" (しゃーんなろー). The phrase has no literal meaning, but is usually translated as "hell yeah", "hell no", or "damn it" depending on the situation ("Cha!" in the English anime). Inner Sakura's appearances are fairly infrequent, her last appearance being Sakura's fight during the Chunin Exams (where it is implied that Inner Sakura may be similar to a separate entity in Sakura's mind). Inner Sakura briefly resurfaces later on during one of the anime's filler arcs, and again at the start of Part II. Karin's Hair Color
It came to a shock to find out that Karin's hair is redish-orange, or the plain color red.It might have something to do with her name.As i've explainded that quince is a fruit, and before it's a fruit it's a flower.The flower is red/redish-orange.So that may be the explaination of her hair color.
Sakura's Hair Color
Sakura's hair is pink because of her name meaning.That is the only reason why she would get pink hair.Sakura means Cherry Blossoms, and the most comman color for a cherry blossom is pink.So that is where Sakura get's her rare hair color.

Interaction - Chapter 356: While Sakura is on Sasuke's trail, his scent suddenly disappears.Karin and Sakura cross paths for the first time.It appears that Karin got rid of Sasuke's trail, so no one can follow him.[Introduction]

Sakura and Karin are alot alike, i'll admit.Still, their two great female characters! heart I find it curious, of why they have so many things in common.There are probably alot more things that I didn't list.
I wonder why Kishimoto made Karin the way she is.Someone said that she could represent Sakura.I hope to get some Sakura, and Karin interaction soon!<3

Wow, I never realized there were so many parallels between the two!
I hope Kishimoto follows up on that and hopefully doesn't forget. Chances are, if the story goes a certain way, these two will probably end up fighting each other and seem even more similar than we all though.

I really hope Sakura and Karin don't fight, but it might come down to the fact that they will.Though like I said, I certainly hope they don't.

I'm really not all that surprised they're so similar.
History repeats itself is one of the biggest concepts in Naruto.
So of course, there's going to be another Sakura-like characters.
But you did some good research. ^^

Well back on the topic.I wasn't surprised that they has so many simularties, but Karin isn't all that Sakura-like.
Karin&Sakura are so alike, and yet that are so different.I still see Karin as a very unuiqe character, despite her simularties with Sakura.

I have noticed similarities but then again I have noticed differences.
Like how Sakura had more of a fan girlish attitude towards Sasuke and treated Naruto badly for no reason other than she though he was annoying.
Now with Karin it is said in the manga that her and Suigetsu had a past.
I forgot where it said it but it was clear they knew each other and greeted each other as if they were fighting siblings, sorta. sweatdrop
