Okay. Late last month, I watched the Reduced Shakespeare Company's The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged) and decided to read Hamlet. I started reading it, but one little thing Polonius said confused me (the problem was later resolved), so I watched the movie version starring Mel Gibson. After that, I read the rest of Hamlet. Since then, I've been in a Mel Gibson mood and I've read Hamlet a second time (and I keep going back to it). This is bumming me out slightly, except that it gives me an excuse to have my own private Mel Gibson film festival.
Discuss Mel Gibson, Hamlet, Shakespeare, the RSC, private film festivals, or being totally hung up on something.

Whoo! xD Another Shakespeare fan. And first off I have to say that the Reduced Shakespeare Company = the win. Adam, Austin, and Reed are geniuses. I loved when they did Hamlet backwards. "Frank Sinatra is God!"
Anyway, I love Hamlet. We read it this year and after that I just got really into Shakespeare. I watched the Mel Gibson movie and thought it was all right. All right considering Mel Gibson is most certainly not a trained Shakespearean actor. He is a very good actor, but not a Shakespearean actor. So I say kudos to him for trying. I rather liked Glenn Closes portrayal of Gertrude though. Kinda got creeped out how they decided to pull out the ol' Oedipus complex though. I really don't think Hamlet wanted to bag his mum. .__.;; If you like Hamlet, however, I do suggest watching Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet. It's really long but I think it was very well done.

I really want to watch Branagh's Hamlet. I loved his Much Ado About Nothing. "Frank Sinatra is God!" made me laugh. The whole thing was funny.

It's been far too long, but I wanted to say that I finally got Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet on DVD on Tuesday and watched it last night. Loved it!
