Does anyone else in the guild play Gears of War on Xbox Live? Just asking in case anyone else wanted to play with me sometime. Maybe Halo 2 and eventually Halo 3 as well and really we should hook up with whatever systems we can.

I do, but right now i just play dead rising and earth defence force 2017. For the people who want a better idea of being attacked by giant creatures theres no better game than edf. the biggest monsters are about 120 ft tall. I'm waiting for someone to mod it so you can change the monster into a giant bikini babe mrgreen

Oh dear oh dear, how to say this without getting stabbed.. or accused of flamebaitetry...
It is.. um.. my humble, generally useless opinion.. that the.. system in question.. along with the games in question.. are quite.. um.. subpar.. and are just.. eh.. a persistant rehashing.. of its predecessors.. and.. not.. as deserving.. of their acclaim.. as they are perceived.. and..
I'm gonna get brutally murdered now, aren't I?

No you are not going to get murdered, stabbed, neck-snapped, or even chainsawed. This is a place of open and free thought.
While I love my 360, I understand and even embrace the fact that everyone has their own tastes in games and diversity is a strength in the industry, not a weakness.
Now yes, to some many if not all 360 games are just another shooter. This is probably even true. But I like shooters, and when you like shooters you can tell where some shine?
First I must ask though, do you have a 360 or have you played gears of war? I do and I had an Xbox, and a PS2, and a Gamecube, and just about every other mainstream system that has come out in the past ten years. I can tell you this, though it can be very glitchy, Gears of War is fun to play. It may not be the end all game of games, but the graphics are good, the gameplay is staple (and in third person), and there is a chainsaw bayonet. Now that my lecture is finished, do with it what you will. And you werent even brutally murdered. ^^
Edit: Forgot about something important. Active reload in Gears is one of the simplest but most innovative and fun additions to the shooter genre in a while. It makes reloading more than just pushing a button. ^^ You push the button twice xp (but you have to time it).

Heh, I didn't actually think I was going to get killed, it was more sarcastic than anything. It's amazing how zealous some console junkies get, especially now and days.
I myself do not own a 360, nor do I ever plan on it, but I've played Gears Of War enough to get the picture (The campaign, some multiplayer) and personally, while I didn't find it horrid, I found it... eh. The graphics are good, but by no means great, the third person thing is kind of becoming a trend to shooters, the gameplay is... it's good, but nothing new. And the chainsaw bayonets seem kinda gimmicky, a la Doom 3's chainsaw, Hidden's pigsticker, etc. Cool and all, but it wears off. And active reload.. ehh.. I really wouldn't call it innovative and fun, especially as an addition to the genre. I mean, it's new, it's different, but are we going to see it in more games?.. yeah.

Aww, youre too picky. The co-op is very good, and the enemies are not slouchy especially on the harder difficulties. I am not telling you to go out and buy the game, but only to see it for what it is: just another game. I enjoy the online multiplayer more than the campaign, and the graphics are exceptional on an HD TV. *shrug* To each his own.
Personally, I think the Wii is more gimmicky than Gears of War. I like the innovative approach but I havent seen anything worth playing on it besides Wii sports. Twilight Princess is overrated. I mean, I love Zelda games and I always have, but the team behind the game did not make enough customizations to make it feel like a Wii game instead of a Gamecube game ported to the Wii.
What kind of games do you like, Arthas?

My friend says that a flea market near him sells three katanas for 20 bucks... I wish I knew where that market was.

No man you dont want those. I am a sword collector of sorts. Most flea market swords are utter junk. They are nice for a first timer, and if the only thing you do is display them, thats also fine. But take it from me, they are not designed for use. You can swing one of the damn things and the blade'll come off. They are poorly constructed and unless they are full-tang, they can be downright dangerous. Also, I was swordfighting with some one who was using a ten dollar flea market sword with my nicer sword. I split his blade in half. I cut it in two. No one was hurt, but we dont use those crappy blades anymore.

Thats cool. I want more knives actually. I own a few Katanas, a pretty cool forearm mounted blade, a ninja knife, and some other stuff. I have kind of held off in recent years because I live in the city again.
