Carrie was one of my favorite books by Stephen King.
I thought it was really well written and it was his first book. He actually threw it out (or so I've been told by my dad many times) and his wife dug it out of the trash.
I thought the movie was kind of disappointing in some ways. The new one was kind of inaccurate. Carrie lived in the end of it, creating a happy ending. Carrie is clearly a tragedy, and I felt like they ruined it. The original Carrie was allright, but please stick to the book.
What did you think of Carrie? Did you like it?

She lived in the new one? Sheesh... I dunno, it was a little hard to read, sorta. Since it was in three parts and there wasn't really chapters. But it was a good book overall.

I know this sounds crazy, and it is, but my library has a first edition Carrie and lets people check it out! I might steal it.

Carrie was my first book, and I loved it, but I've since read other King novels that I like better.

I got a bit confused by it at first but i loved it! i love how he changes between present events (showers, prom ect) then flashes forwad to police interviews or adds in a nespaper clipping. does anyone know if they were real articles by the way?

I have yet to see the movie version of it, but the book was great. I just thought it was neat how he tied in all of the news stories and paperwork stuff into the general plot, and that couldn't be replicated in the movie version. Also, the ending of the movie sounds pretty dumb compared to the emotional one of the novel. Still, I might as well watch it.

I loved the book. I haven't seen the movie yet. I fnished the book in about an hour. From the look of the front of the movie box, I think they got some of Carrie's looks and mannerisms wrong. She seemed taller and lean on the box.

I've only seen a bit of the movie, so I really cant tell an opinion of it.
I probably would like the book better anyways, its usually a fact of life. (that the books are usually better than movies based on them)

I loved the novel and the original movie. The thing with Carrie is it is the sort of novel that doesnt translate well into a movie format. Taking that into consideration I felt that the original movie captured the spirit of the novel, however the new movie was a disaster.

I refuse to watch any of King's movies (that were books first, which excludes Rose Red) on principle. But the book was exceptional. I recently persuaded my cousin to read it. She hasn't finished yet (slow reader) but she liekd it so far and I'm hoping to convince her to read The Shining next.
