Bio: A typical person under the sign of the Horse, Jiao is extremely intelligent and popular, but is also very quick-tempered and sometimes acts like the tactless pre-teen she is when in new environments. With her parents being quite rich she is one of the few girls who goes to any type of schooling that doesn't have to do with flower arranging or tea ceremonies. It was during a fight with her older brother, Gong, that her skills with fire bending were discovered, accidentally destroying her mother's silk gown the night of an important fire nation palace gala.
Her father is a traveling merchant, which accounts for the prosperity of the family, and has worked so hard so that his family can live in the comfort of Fire Nation high society. Jiao has a pet Cat Owl that her father bought back from Ba Sing Se that she called Bu Yu. Her mother is always at some sort of party or being a social butterfly with the other rich women, thus leaving Jiao on her own when she comes home from class.
Being rather young, she doesn't quite understand what the war is about except that the time her father is away on his trips is becoming longer and longer. Her brother is also distancing himself, already a Yu Yan Archer in order to help out the Nation. Left with only her mother, who is quickly irritated by Jiao's opinion of mud cakes being better than diamond necklaces, she is sent to New Ozai in hopes she will find, "someone else to trouble", as her mother says.
Along the way, though, the ship must alter its course due to violent weather and possible Water Tribe nomad confrontations. So she landed in Ba Sing Se instead.
Opinion on the war: Hopes the Fire Nation wins as quickly as possible so her father can return home.
