So once again, i took the test and iu got Kubuntu first and Ubuntu second. I understand that Kubuntu is an official derivative of the Ubuntu operating system using the KDE environment instead of GNOME. But is that the only difference? I am cunfuzzled.

As far as I know that is the only difference, but of course I never used one of the *buntus so I wouldn't know.

Lol if you can say that this is the only diference than yes it is but you need to know that it is completly difrent system because Gnome and KDE are so diffrent. So yea KDE is a bit more cool for me I dislike Gnome it is to harder for me (not use to it). So you need to read what is Gnome and what is KDE and than you will be able to pick wich distro you wont otherwise you can have Gnome and KDE on the same PC and test them both.

Hey, good idea, but from what i understand, KDE has a more Windows like appearance, which is better for me than Gnome, which has a Mac like experience, because i rarely use Macs and spend more than enough time on Windows every day.

They are completely different OS, but I was wondering if that was the only significant differences between the two...

Any cool differences? Such as your internet browser doubling as a thing to go through your files...

yea I said all the programs are diffrent you use konqueror in KDE and Nautilus in Gnome but konqueror is FTP/Web/File Browser and probably more stuff like musick player video player and some cool stuf as Nautilus isn't biggrin (or I think it cant last time I checked 1 year ago).

Ubuntu. I'm a Gnome person. but I really liked Xubuntu and Kubuntu when I used them. Studio was my favorite though.

no love for xubuntu? sad
XFCE is great. I got things about each D.E. that I like Gnome because how easy it is to use, KDE for its bad a** task bar and good web browser. XFCE has got my desktop because of how light it runs, and how you can hack up the desktop to look how ever you want or need. I like flux/blackbox because its all right click, and very light. Its all what your doing.

if I was running a server with a gui it would be flux.
desktop for net/media gnome or xfce
programming/dev/hardcore work kde.

Sorry to say but XFCE is not as big as KDE or GNOME they are just the most known/used.

Siath: What can't you do in gnome that is in your screen shot that you posted? I've been a Gnome user since 1.4, and I'm not seeing anything...

As for the Gnome vs. KDE thing (regardless of which *buntu you get, you can install both desktop systems on either) you can make KDE mac-like and Gnome windows-like, or verse vica razz You really should try 'em both out and see what fits you better. Maybe even try out XFCE or IceWM or even Enlightenment.

I've configured Gnome to sorta resemble windows, sorta resemble MacOSX, and sorta be unlike both other systems as well - it's a style that fits me based on my preferences rather than my desire to conform to another OSes design philosophy.

or aoc2.0(apple os clone 2.0) as a DWM. It's harder then eck to find, with very little support, but if set up right, it works wonderfully. O"h yeah, it also brings in libraries for the support of mac applications. BDE FTW!! or of course you can build a super distro with support for all linux installers such as .dev and whatever it is fedora uses.
