So I saw this awesome idea in a thread that never took off. I even submitted to it, but the owner never followed up.
Anyway, the idea was better worded, but went something like this:
We all make RPs or have these great ideas that we either never see made or lose interest in making. Well, who knows if there might not be someone out there who would like to make it. Who would have the motivation to do so.
Here you can post ideas you had but don't have the time or motivation to create, and let other people adopt your ideas and make the thread. You can set certain requirements and approve who takes it, but it's also a way to just exchange ideas and find co-thread creators and stuff.
Here's your chance to share your RP ideas with people who will probably understand them. With people who are talented enough to make them well and pull them off.
So if you have an idea you really want to see made, but perhaps can't dedicate the time to making and running the RP, let us know and maybe something can be done about it.
If this sounds like a good idea to anyone, maybe I'll turn it into an outside of the guild thread.

Hey, kids,
This is a recruitment thread for Fab 4: - A Beatles Drabbles Thread
It started out as an idea for an Rp, which will still be done, eventually --but, in the meantime, we're looking for more fans/writers to take part in this collaborative writing thread.
If you love The Beatles. If you love just one album. One song. One character; this thread is for you.
The thread is a round robin of sorts. For an explanation see the thread linked above.
It doesn't take much to join. What's stopping you? Those interested, say Aye.

-Once and Future King- You've read that book, right? By T.H. White? Good. (Actually having read the book is a plus, but ALMOST COMPLETELY USELESS for this RP :D)
It's about Arthur and his knights, from the inscription over his grave:
Quote: HIC IACET ARTORIVS REX QVONDAM REXQVE FVTVRVS — "Here lies Arthur, the once and future king." Arthurian expert Geoffrey Ashe "Persisting through many presentations of him, from the far-off Welsh to some modern ones, is the perennial dream of a golden age. In this case it has the added quality that Arthur still lives and will return, so that the golden age will be reinstated. The appeal to the imagination has the power to outlast literal belief."
(The Arthurian Handbook, 198 cool Now the idea for this RP would revolve around Arthur's return. But, unlike the legends or White's commentary, the point would not be to teach us morals or remark on our ideas of a perferc society.
This RP would be, if nothing else, a bit of a comedy.
The return could occur in any period of time (after his own). We'll use the reign of QEII as an example.
Say Arthur and his knights return, modern day, to reclaim the throne of England, but they discover that Elizabeth is on the throne. This should earn a hell of a reaction from the Round Table Knights, wondering who the bint is on Arthur's throne. You'd have Gawain and Bors laughing William and harry right out of the country and perhaps Mordred and Charles commiserating over what a pain it is to have royal parents. And you know Kay would pick a fight with one of the guards at Buckingham Palace.
The possibilities are endless.
This would have to be a parody, of course, and I'd have to be careful who I chose to portray the Royals, for the sake of avoiding offending too many people, but I'd love to see how the knights deal with modern times.
...Another possible twist would be to make this truly random and canon based by making each person who wishes to play a knight choose one from some existing canon. You could have Merlin from that terrible Excaliber movie, Arthur from 'Camelot' who'd break into song at random, Bedivere from Monty Python, and Parsifal from that modern interpretation where he's an alcoholic and bum. It'd be great to mix sources for some extra hilarity.
Can't you just see them arriving in New York? Knights of the Round Table on a jumbo jet? How can you pass this s**t up?

-Something Classic Literature-
This is just a vague idea/rough sketch. I don't actually have any sort of developed plot.
But I have a bit of a soft spot for classic literature and history, so I think it'd be a hell of a good time to create an RP (It'd probably have to be in a guild to work) that would be set in a world of Canononical Classic Lit chars.
Anything from Arthurians to Lovecraftians. Holmes to Frankenstein. It'd be easier if the books/stories were set on Earth, but exceptions could be made.
The thing would be, despite the stories being set at different times in the original sources, these characters would all be living at the same time in the RP. Like suddenly every classic lit character got scooped up and shoved onto a different version of Earth. Together.
So you might have Marius from Les Mis (Set in 1832) running into D'Artagnan from the Three Musketeers who is from 1626.
Generally this would cause a lot of confusion. We can run with that, or we can employ an 'SEP" Somebody else's problem' way of thinking. For example, another character's clothing or manner of speaking may seem unusual or anachronistic, but you character would just shrug it off. Chalk it up to 'Someone else's problem'. That's an issue we'd have to discuss amongst participants.
Another catch-- Any NPCs you might want to use/god would also need to be canon characters from a canon set in approximately the right place. Time-setting is Irrelavant.
Say, if I wanted Edmond Dantes (The Count of Monte Cristo) to talk to his neighbour in Paris, his neighbor would have to be a character (Even a passing reference) from another Classic Lit canon, who lives in, or visits, Paris in their canon. They could also be someone from his own canon, but if you want to branch out other canons must be employed.
No original characters for any reasons, no matter how minor their part.
This is to incur a challenge and give all you well read RPers a chance to show off or make use of all that assigned reading you got in school.
Something similar could also be done using poetry or song lyrics as a source, if that's more appealing.

-A historical idea-Inspired by this song and the events it depicts:The Massacre of GlencoeOh, cruel is the snow that sweeps Glencoe And covers the grave o' Donald; Oh, cruel was the foe that raped Glencoe And murdered the house of MacDonald. They came in the blizzard, we offered them heat, A roof for their heads, dry shoes for their feet; We wined them and dined them, they ate of our meat, And they slept in the house of MacDonald
They came from Fort William wi murder in mind; The Campbell had orders King William had signed; "Put all to the sword," these words underlined, "And leave none alive called MacDonald."
They came in the night when the men were asleep, This band of Argyles, through snow soft and deep; Like murdering foxes amongst helpless sheep, They slaughtered the house of MacDonald.
Some died in their beds at the hand o the foe; Some fled in the night and were lost in the snow; Some lived to accuse him wha struck the first blow, But gone was the house of MacDonald. Information on the historical event/massacre can be found here; along with the lyrics, detailed, wiki, with pictures, Accounts, views, big font, bright colours, simple, and everywhere else if you consult google. I haven't really come up with much of a plot, beyond the historical events, but there's potential, it's a period and place that doesn't get RPed often, and you know you've always wanted to take part in the Campbell/MacDonald Feud. Or any other big feuds or massacres?

Something else historical concerning explorers, conquistadores, the new world, the hunt for gold, whatever -- could also be fun. Something that starts on a ship then reaches a new land, involves hunting through jungles, and wilderness, maybe deserts, etc.
Think El Dorado, the Aztecs, Seafaring, or explorers like Drake, Desoto, Columbus, Magellan, Cortez, Balboa, etc.

Sin City - Canon-based Group RP--------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey,I have been pondering/planning a group RP based on/in Sin City. The specific details of the setting, such as where in the timeline, are not yet decided. This means you're welcome to make suggestions/offer input.
We'd prefer to base it more firmly off of the graphic novel canon. I can provide a link to a download of the comics, if you can prove to me that you're interested enough to read them and apply.
If you've already read them, great, send me a writing sample that you think does your Sin City RP-potential justice, then start brain-storming with us.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ It would also be good to have some sort of idea what type of (Canon) character you'd like to play. Do it. Most of my stuff is modern or historical. Let's bring some space/future to the table. I'll drag someone with a cyberpunk RP in too.

As for an RP inspired by/about a song, I would love to see one based off of "Loch Lomond" (possibly my favorite song ever).
I think something based in the universe of "Firefly" would do nicely, but I'm aware that it may be a tad obscure. Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" universe would be quite a bit of fun as well (though I'd rather wait on that one until I've read all the books). I also love pure sci-fi.
There's a chance I may take one of these ideas and try to make an RP, just not at the moment.

Ooh, that reminds me that I wanted to do something based off of celtic music, possibly a member of the IRA.
Woot for irish rebel music.
Loch Lomond/Firefly would be an interesting crossover.
Sandman is interesting as well. Hm.

Ffaux Pas Loch Lomond/Firefly would be an interesting crossover. That would be interesting. I feel like trying to write a background for that one.

You know... this started out as an elitist RP guild, then due to some falling-out between the head mods, I gave up on the idea.
Now I'm sort of glad that we have a range of RPers. As much as I like seeing only ADV rps, I like the chance to help others more. This isn't meant as an insult or to debase anyones RPs. I really think it will do all of us good to work together and hopefully become friends outside of RP, despite differences in RP skill level. Browsing the OOC you flock to the threads that match your ability and never have the chance to meet those who may be far better or far worse than yourself, while here you have the chance to talk in the general discussion forums, meet cool people, and maybe even help them improve or become more accepting/less arrogant.
So if you see an RP, at least of mine, that seems a little above your level, perhaps, by all means apply for it. I'd love to see everyone improve as much as possible.

That's all well and good; perhaps, still, we should work out an official ranking system? I consider myself the higher-end of semi-lit, but I could be dead wrong. So, maybe, we should have a thread where members can post RP samples and get a literacy rating. I've always thought something like that would be a good idea. That way, people could know what to expect from each other. I don't know if anyone will like this idea or not, and of course, it would be by no means required. Just a thought.
