I was just wondering what all of you do to help yourselves relax. Especially for those of you who have anxiety disorder ( I do too!) what helps when things start to really overwhelm you? I dont think I know the meaning of the word "relax" anymore... xp any suggestions??

When I'm at the computer I bend my head down and start doing deep breathing. sometimes this helps, sometimes this doesn't. Well, one thing that does work and you have to do it for several minutes, is to lay on your back, touch your thumbs to your pinkies, close your eyes, deep breath and repeat to yourself that everything is ok, you're fine, anything that'll make you feel better.

try sitting up straight, focusing on your breathing, and lightly placing your hand(s) on your stomach or chest, so you can feel the breathing.
it really helps to eliminate distractions this way, and pay attention to one thing at a time.

I hold my head in my hands and rock slightly, or press my head against the floor if I am home by myself. Sometimes focusing on something like the reflections of light in a water bottle will help, as well. When I'm at work and I feel especially bad, I will take a break and go into the bathroom to get some quiet time. Breathing deeply and focusing on the breaths can also help, but this sometimes also makes me lightheaded confused .

I had a therapist who made me write down things that relax me. Petting my dog is one of them.
