gonk I don't quite know yet.
I've been with a few guys before...but actually ALL of them came to me. I never really feel much towards guys at all, except maybe as friends.
But since I was little I've always fancied girls. In fact I was about 4 when I had my first crush sweatdrop . It was on my friend, I'll call her Ambey, so to speak. And I've had a few other girl crushes since then.
I grew up with a religious grandmother since I was little, so I was taught "Oh, gays and lesbians are wrong" and crap like that, so I usually would pass the little girl crushes off as "Oh, maybe it's normal for kids to like others like them" and never really thought about it till a bit ago.
Now I'm really wondering.
I'm quite sure I'm a lesbian, actually, given the proof from SO long ago.
But either way...
Can peeps tell me how they found out that they were what they were? The processes they went through and the differant types of assessment? I think that might help a bit. sweatdrop

Hmm myself... I do identify as a lesbian, but it wasn't always that way.
I'd say it all started in high school when I got a crush on my best friend. The dreams didn't help and I denied them something awful, but that didn't work for over a year later I still crushed on her. About... hmm 10 months later or so I met my girlfriend and I didn't realize she was flirting with me at the time. All I knew was that she made me happy to talk to her and that I always got butterflies in my stomach as well... then I realized I liked her and she asked me out.
Since then I started trying to find myself. College gave me plenty of time to do that without interference of my family. I could look up what I wanted to read and watched quite a few films while digging around inside myself. I already knew I felt nothing toward boys. Had dated two before, but when it came to sexual things I didn't care to go that far or want to with them. I never had those crushes on them either. While I can say it's the same for girls mostly, there are times when I'll see a girl in a boyish style and think 'damn she's hot' and I don't really do that. Boys are friends to me, but I can't see myself dating one, but I can see myself dating a girl. And from having dated both, I like dating girls better anyway. I wouldn't give my girl up for anything in the world.

For little girls it's absolutly normal to form such close bonds that you, today are questioning as lesbian roots. All little girls have a tendency to love each other but that is a different form of lesbianism and a different discussion. I don't think you should try to talk yourself into it based on something that happened in the freedom of your youth; it takes more comittment than a fling long ago to justify your identity.

I first fell in love with a girl when I was 9 years old. I knew it was more then just a crush, in fact we kissed and make love several times... I come from a very sorted past. Yes, one can know at a very young age and it can be easier for girls to discover their sexuality because of the close bond that we hold together. The feelings I had for girls back then went well beyond the norm. When I was hugged by another girl I would feel myself blush. I loved to cuddle and the likes as well. It was just easier because people did not think too much about it until I explained that those sleepovers were not as innocent at they thought.
The person above who said to not consider your past crushes is wrong. Boys and girls have crushes when they are little and it does mean something. To brush it off as just something that girls do is what everyone wants to think because girls are sweet and innocent, but if it meant something to you then it is up to you to decide if it is something or not.
The thing you should be thinking about now is how do you feel about girls when you see them today? Do you feel all warm inside or find yourself staring at a girl without realizing it? What started out when you were young would have grown by now and only you can tell for sure if it has or not.
Well good luck
Kat
