Indigo children are the next stage in spiritual and mental development in human beings. indigos are individualsthat have had no or very few reincarnation and are usually "old souls" in that the reincarnation is from a very long time ago. the term Indigo comes from the prominent coloring of the persons aura and the makeup of it. Indigos are here to teach the world how to see the world in a new light. with the mental developments the empathic abilities, problem solving abilities, energy manipulation abilities and in some cases telekenetic abilities are super charged and running at a whole new vibration.

Hey, I added Indigos to the subforum now so others can more easily locate this thread. heart
My aunt told me I'm an Indigo, but I'm not sure how true that is since I'm not overly saavy of this phenomenon. Do you know if there's a main way you can tell, or is it just an it-feels-right sort of thing? Would others be able to read your aura and tell you?
Have you seen the movie "Indigo"? I'm curious if that portrayal is one you agree with or not. biggrin
Oh! And just for clarification for others even though you defined it for your own use, "Old Soul" generally used refers to people who have been reincarnated more than average and thus come across as wise for their age. heart

well i know there are a whack of books and sites that you can reference in and a quiz that was written by the discoverer of this phenomena that you can take just simply type it in to google and a lot will come up as for the aura reading thing im sure that will work as well.

I checked out that quiz you mentioned. A copy for parents to use is here.As far as young!me, I fit pretty much every characteristic described. But - and, mind you, I'm not trying to be a spoilsport - I'm kind of disappointed. I know I was a unique kid, as far as kids go, but I don't think that deserves some kind of special-sounding label that seems to set me above everyone. I know a lot of kids who were like this, or who would have been under different circumstances. Is there something that I'm missing, here?

Hmm...as a child, I fit almost all of the things listed in that quiz, which, by the way, thank you bunches for finding it and posting the link! The thing is...a lot of those traits not only seem to conflict with one another (being kind and gentle and having an attitude?), but seem to be something that fits almost all kids raised in a healthy environment. I'm not knocking Indigos, I'm just afraid the phenomena might turn too fad-like (like otherkin), if you catch my drift. Kinda a catch-all term, y'know? And, some of the sites I have read have that elitist sound to them, as Magenitian mentions. I highly dislike that, but I know there are TONS of sites that put an elitist spin on psychic abilities, otherkin, and whatnot, so I know that's not going to be an inherent trait to the label 'Indigo'. If you're missing something, Magenitian, I think I might be too. sweatdrop

Honestly i never knew what they were until recently wheni accidently found the article about indigo children on wikipedia. it's kind of scary the way i fit all the characteristics so perfectly. i wish i knew more about it...

the reason why a lot of kids especially recently is because the phenomena started in the early 80's and is starting to push out the older "life colored" peoples, i think somewhere around 40% of kids born in the last twenty years have been indigo.

Hm... I like that quiz better than the other one I found. It seems less intended for self-gratification, if that makes sense. Anyway, according to this quiz, I am no Indigo Kid. Fine by me... I think it'd make life a lot harder to display some of these things, anyhow.

unfortunately many physicians can misread these signs as ADD or ADHD and in young kids the ritalin can stunt the development of there "indigoness"
