Andrew Johnson Yoko Ono breaks silence to reveal John Lennon's last words before he was shotFor 40 years Yoko Ono has kept a silent dignity in the face ofof global vilification meted out by legions of Beatles fans. But today, in an emotional interview, she reveals the last words her husband John Lennon uttered moments before he was gunned down on a New York street in 1980 by Mark Chapman. "I said 'shall we go and have dinner before we go home?' and John said 'No, let's go home because I want to see Sean before he goes to sleep'," Ono, 73, told Kirsty Young on 'Desert Island Discs'. Young then asked Ono if Lennon had said anything after he was shot, to which she replied in almost a whisper: "No." Ono, a conceptual artist, admitted that she would never be more than "the wife of an ex-Beatle". Choosing Edith Piaf's "Je Ne Regrette Rien" as one of her discs, sher added: "I regret nothing, too."

I saw that on the news. They were presenting it as if John would still be alive if they had gone to dinner. As if that creep who doesn't deserve to be named wouldn't still be waiting. mad I dunno. It kind of upset me.

I've always heard he stumbled and said 'I'm shot' a few seconds later....but that doesn't count.

I've also heard the 'I'm shot' thing - but it may have been the media blowing the issue up a bit.
Anyhow, it's rather sad that none of the John songs she chose were Beatles songs.

Otherwise, why not pick them also? John's still singing in them, and some of them are greater masterpieces than his solo works.

I always wondered about Yoko. Nothing she did ever made perfect sense to me.....
That's pretty depressing though.

I mean, he sang plenty outside of The Beatles, when they were married and all.

The man waited outside the building all day...what makes you think he wouldn't wait another hour?
