Tayuya is the foul mouthed, ill tempered female Kunoichi of the Sound Four. She is very intelligent and can think of excellent strategies and battle tactics close to the level of Shikamarus. Her only weapon is her flute from which she can perform genjutsu. She also bares a cursed seal which, at level 2, makes her hair grows longer, her skin turns dark brown, and grows several horns form on her head. She also gains immense strength, which allows her to overcome even Shikamaru's various shadow jutsu.
Tayuya is the only member of the Sound Four without a trait that could slow the group down. She is also the only member to ever demonstrates a sense of morality. She almost defeats Shikamaru Nara, but Temari comes to his aid. Temari kills Tayuya with Summoning: Quick Beheading Dance, uprooting most of the forest and crushing her under a tree.

Shikamaru is the unenthusiastic and rather lazy shinobi from Konoha village. He, however, is mature for his age and is actually a genius who can think of perfect battle strategies and tactics. He is one of the smartest Shinobi in Konoha and is often the leader of the team. He specializes in Shadow jutsu which allows him to control and manipulate shadows, an ability passed down through his family.
Shikamaru’s laziness hides his true strength, an IQ that reaches over 200 and a way of thinking that places him ahead of someone else, easily allowing him to set up traps. With his smarts, Shikamaru is able to beat Kin, Temari, and hold off Tayuya as long as he can before his chakra is depleted. He bet, through his fight with Tayuya, that she'd be great at playing shougi.

Why? Why not?
Shikamaru is paired with everyone of his opponents (+ Ino) and looks good with all of them. However, with Tayuya and Shikamaru, their relationship is one I see formed from respect and admiration as shinobi from their tension filled battle together. Shikamaru though, during their battle, that she would be good at playing Shougi, maybe even a challenge to him and Tayuya, even though she despised him at first, ends up realizing his intelligence and is taken back by it. Their difference in personality is also something that sparked my interest in them that Shikamaru is laid back while she is blunt and foul mouthed. They would be one funny couple.

They would make a cute couple, shame he kicked her a** to the ground with the help of Temari, but Shika just suits big mouthed girls like Temari and Tayuya.
