Everyone has an obstacle that they have to overcome to get motivated to exercise, loose weight, achieve goals...

What is yours?

My obstacle:

I'm too lazy, I will decide to do something, it will come time to do it, unless I'm really worked up to do it, I will sit back, delibrately keep my eye off the clock and relax saying I will do it tomorrow.

Tomorrow comes and the process begins again sweatdrop

This is what I'm really working on to improve so that I can get as fit and as toned as I was 4 years ago. Then I could almost run 6km, now, I can't even run one which is pretty pathetic stare

In the past it has been my tendency to give up... but for a pretty long while I haven't let myself quit.

Also I had a lot of problems with being over zealous with my scheduling... so it was impossible to maintain.

Like nightwings, I tend to just give up. If I can't see results, I tend to loose sight and focus and no longer see the point of it.. but then I think "but if I keep going, maybe it'll go away // get better," and then when it doesn't I give up again.

I'm a little the opposite, when I get over my laziness, I see results too quickly (appearence wise, not fitness levels), so I ease off and then stop completely sweatdrop

I get lazy and distracted. I stay up to late at night and wake up early in the morning. I have low energy all too often.

Haha, I'm really lazy too, maybe because I've been working out late at night as well since and it has been pretty hot. I work out here at home. I'm actually going to try and workout early in the morning before classes.

Laziness, procrastination (I think it would fall into the "laziness" category, but I'm listing it anyway), I'm self-conscious about my weight (I cannot exercise in public. I can do so by disguising it as something else (like riding my bike), but I'm too afraid of being laughed at to just run around the neighborhood (I know no one will laugh, or even think anything mean spirited, but I'm so jaded by the bullying from elementary and middle school that I just can't)), and an unhealthy diet.

I need help D:

My obstacle is getting past embarrassement.
I don't like going outside and running by myself because I'm afraid that people I know will see me. I've been trying to work on getting over this, but little luck.

Usually whenever I would job or run it would be with my friend, but she moved, so I kind of lost my motivation.

-Embarassment
-Lack of support

I'm hoping I can get over being embarassed and find someone who will workout with me =]

I was and still am like that. A few things that I have found have helped:
- Use an iPod/MP3 player
- Jog on a back track/road where it's not so busy
- Jog at a time of day where there aren't many people around

But also a word of caution. ALWAYS carry ID and your mobile with you. I don't want to scare you, but these are actually the no-no's of running alone:
- iPod/MP3: can't hear anyone or anything around you
- Back track/road: less people around, safer in busy areas
- Time of day: same as above
- ID: if anything does happen, you're ID will identify who you are
- Mobile: call someone if you are i trouble/hurt

When I'm at home (parents), I actually run on the bush track with my iPod and usually in the evening. I know I shouldn't, but those situations suit me. But I always have my ID and mobile with me, plus let someone at home know roughly how long I will be.

But with all this risk, I do find that it greatly reduces the embarressment. I was that embarressed one day while running down the street that whenever I saw anyone, I actually pretended like I was looking for my dog.
