“Come on, Naru-kun, please?” A blonde girl with a long braid going to mid-way down her back pleaded, deciding to cut the last syllable off of her companion’s name. The boy she was holding hands with and attempting to tug along frowned, shaking his head, which caused his already unruly blonde hair to become even messier… if such a thing was even possible, of course.
“Rekka… you know you’re just going to get the s**t scared out of you and then I have to deal with you screaming in my ear and nearly cutting off the circulation in my fingers…” Naruto responded, looking down at their fingers that were laced together.
“I will so not get scared.” The girl responded stubbornly, glaring at him and taking her hand out of his with a little ‘humph!’ as she crossed her arms. “If anyone would get scared, it’d be you!” She paused, before looking around and giggling. “Or emopants over there…” She said, pointing to Sasuke who glared back in their direction.
“Get a room…” Sasuke grumbled, obviously not in the best mood. After all, who would be in his situation? Rekka giggled at this, her mood lightening even more as her boyfriend wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close.
“C’mon, Rekka, we can go back to my place…” Naruto said softly in her ear, smiling. Obviously Ginshin had taught him something after all, although certain people didn’t quite approve of this (namely Sasuke, who was still angry that Naruto seemed to be surpassing him in everything… including girls.)
Rekka looked thoughtful, before perking up a bit with a grin and turning around in his arms to face the blonde boy. “Oh, really?” She asked, giggling again with a slight blush before grinning wickedly. “I heard Ginchiyo needs a babysitter! Aw, you were thinking about her weren’t you? That’s so sweet!” She said, gushing over him as Naruto’s face went visibly paler.
“Um, on second thought, the haunted house sounds amazingly wonderful!” Naruto said quickly, taking Rekka’s hand and tugging her off in the direction of the ‘ride’ and away from the possibility of getting his hair braided for the third time that week. Sure, girls liked guys who were sympathetic and good with kids, but Naruto could only handle so many tea parties!
Wonder what made him change his mind so fast… I thought he loved Ginchiyo… Rekka thought to herself before shrugging and giggling, “Hey, wait up!” She said as she began to run after him, not exactly wanting to get dragged along by the over-eager ninja. “What’s the rush, anyways?” She asked, tugging on his hand to slow him down a bit. In all honesty, he was rushing so that she wouldn’t change her mind and opt to go baby-sit rather than go on a date with him. They hadn’t really had much time together lately, but who could blame him? He had to balance quite a few girlfriends.
“Uh, we don’t want the line to get any longer?” He asked, trying to sound convincing before grinning at his own little lie. “Yea! That’s it, we don’t want the line to get any longer, now do we?” He asked, standing with her happily at the end of the Haunted House line. Rekka smiled at him, wiggling her fingers in his playfully while resting her head against his shoulder while they waited. She didn’t say a word, but then again, did she really need to? It was quite obvious she liked him a lot, and liked spending time with him because of this. It didn’t take a genius to figure things out.
“I’m sorry we haven’t spent much time together lately.” Naruto apologized quietly, playing with her braid. He was debating on whether or not it would be worth it to let her braid loose. Rekka could be scary sometimes, especially when it came to her hair and even more so when it was it’s natural color and loose. Rekka made a soft, content sound against him, muscles completely relaxed when he wrapped his arms around her.
“It’s okay, I know you’re busy… training and all.” She smiled, deciding to leave out the topic of his other girlfriends for now. He laughed, smiling gratefully in return. She obviously didn’t want to ruin their day together, either. Sure, training… Naruto thought to himself, sighing mentally, he had decided against pulling her hair out. She had been a bit neglected over the past week, but who was he to deny Ino? She was a total hottie, after all. Naruto immediately began regretting thinking that, feeling a little guilty.
“Come on, the line’s moving forward.” He said softly, trying to keep his mind off of Ino for the moment. Wasn’t this Rekka’s day? Rekka looked up at him, noticing something was a little off before giggling.
“You’re crazy, Naru-kun.” She teased, before frowning at him as he let go of her with a wicked little grin. “Oh no, no, no, no!” She whimpered, giggling and squirming as he pulled her into a bear hug and began to tickle her. “Stop it!” She squealed, even though she really didn’t want him to. He just laughed, eventually letting her go. She caught her breath, a little red in the face before noticing that they were next to enter the attraction.
“Don’t call me crazy.” Naruto warned, actually making Rekka wonder if he was being serious or not before he grinned at her. She shook her head, exclaiming something along the lines of ‘you’re horrible!’ before getting dragged along into the haunted house.
--- Meanwhile… ---
A pink-haired girl walked around the fair grounds, a bit distracted. “Jeeze, Sakura, you’re here fifteen minutes early.” She mumbled to herself, checking the time at one of the food stands before sitting down at the bench Rekka had told her to. After having broken up with Sasuke, Rekka had somehow convinced Sakura to give Naruto a shot. The two got along, oddly enough… which might actually prove to be a bit fun for Naruto, the lucky boy. “She did say she wanted to get him to go with her to the haunted house and a few rides…” Sakura’s voice drifted as she talked to herself quietly, looking up towards the sky as she watched all the people on the roller coasters get tussled around. That actually looked a little fun, now that she thought about it. Maybe she’d be able to get Rekka to ditch Naruto for a little bit later and go on it with her, after all, Naruto could only handle so many women, or could he?
Sakura’s hand went to her cheek, like it had been doing surprisingly often for the past few weeks. Sasuke had hit her, only once of course, that was all it had taken for Sakura to get fed up with him and dump his sorry a**. Of course, Sakura had been getting closer to Rekka as this was happening and had wound up running to her for help rather than public enemy number one, Ino. Rekka had been really sweet about the whole thing, Sakura decided, her hand dropping from her cheek. And now Sakura was going to give Naruto a chance, funny how Rekka was willing to share her man with Sakura but not with any of the other girls.
--- Meanwhile…---
Sasuke growled to himself quietly as he watched Rekka flirt and play around with Naruto, frowning. This wasn’t working out, he was supposed to be the one with all the girls and all the talent. Since Naruto had returned from wherever he had disappeared to, Sasuke had lost his title as the top student. Kakashi was starting to favor the blonde runt now, and all of the girls that used to be fawning over him had moved on to something a little more ‘manly’. He cursed to himself, shaking his head. Why did he even come here, anyway? What was he hopping for, another shot?
No, he still had an ego. He was going to make them all want him again, one way or another. But still… Sasuke got a girlfriend so Naruto got three. It was seriously starting to piss off Sasuke, maybe this wasn’t just some fluke or trend… damn girls, didn’t they realize what they had right in front of them? Sasuke growled in his throat, fists clenching.
Flashback:
Sasuke was sitting down in a grassy field under a tree, eyes closed with his head tilted downwards slightly. Naruto had just gotten back and was just as big of a pest as ever, however, he was noticing that he wasn’t quite as weak as before. In fact, the Uchiha boy was starting to wonder if he had a little bit of competition on his hands. “Mm…” He thought to himself, opening his eyes slowly. He looked over to his right, frowning at Rekka who was sitting there quietly.
“I already told you no.” He said coldly, tilting his head to the side slightly as he looked over at her. Rekka shifted slightly, looking over at him once he had broken the silence that had drug on for half an hour already.
“I know.” She replied softly, managing a small smile. “I don’t want you to be al one, you always look so sad…” She said in that same, soft tone with a hint of caring. Sasuke just kept on staring at her coldly before looking back up at the sky.
“Well, I’m not interested.” He said bluntly, not caring to look and see if Rekka had flinched even slightly at his words. He really didn’t care about her, why should he? Sure, she was on his team now, but he was always seemingly stuck with idiots. “I don’t see why you’re so obsessed with me, it’s not like you have a chance.”
Rekka looked away, “I thought you needed some cheering up…” She said softly, “Do you want me to leave?” Sasuke shrugged, deciding not to bother with her anymore. After another half an hour of sitting and sorting out his thoughts he stood, leaving without another word to her.
Rekka frowned, looking up at him as he left. “So much for trying.” She said softly, sighing to herself and curling up into a little ball.
Sasuke looked a bit thoughtful, “Maybe I shouldn’t have pushed her away… Naruto seems to be getting some from her…” What a jerk. With a new found determination to get a girl (or several, ooh, that could be fun) Sasuke stood. He didn’t have to win Rekka, he just had to make her not want Naruto anymore.
