UPDATE: Date changed to December 16th 26th 18TH 26th again~~ (Seems it will stay that way)
Orginally Posted By: mossygirl (Gakuen Alice LJ Community)
I found this posted on Animeondvd.com (a very reliable news source for anime) just now:
TOKYOPOP Tackles New Manga (02:58 PM EDT): A few new listings at Amazon indicate some possible new manga titles from TOKYOPOP come 2008 as V. B. Rose Vol. #1 and Gakuen Alice Vol. #1 are both slated for a January 2008 release.
I also read somewhere it was being licensed in France.
--
This is really both great and horrible news!
Great:
-GA will get more popularity -We can actually own the books -All chapters will eventually be translated into English
Horrible:
-Licensing = No more scanlations on the web -It costs money (exspensive) -They may mess up on the translation
Discuss Here.

It's being licensed by tokyoPop, so it can be imported into other contries (sp). (Canada, and other places as well)
Only the manga. It's been confirmed, I've seen it on two sites and TokyoPop confirmed it themselves.

Actually, I wouldn't mind the manga being licensed.
Then when I re-upload my GA video (since Kiki's account is deleted), they won't have so much whining...
Where do you find the English translated scans?
I tell ya, to all idiots who say that, ******** OFF.
xD
Oh wait... Wouldn't my video be deleted then...? ._____.

Hmm...No, if the anime is licensed then it will be taken down.

I just hope they do a good job. As for scans dissapearing, very unlikely, look at one piece, naruto, etc, they have all scans existing, and in a easy place to find,i mean they both are on the first pages of search.

Actually, Japanese scans will still be there. As for Aeries' Scanslations, they'll discontinue the project and it'll be gone on most BitTorrent sites. And dedicated Gakuen Alice fansites will have a split. Some will want you to support the license, while some people will just try to appear "good."

I think a new group will pick up GA if the others quit. I doubt there isn't a group that wont pick it up,even if they are die hard fans.I just think the groups would be harder to find, but then again, a worldwide popular manga like naruto has its scanslations on first page after typing "naruto manga" . I know both japanese and English scans will still exist, just maybe not as fast, because so many mangas at onemanga website have been licensed in America, but scans were picked up by other groups, and are almost to date on scans.Even scans right now arent what people would call good, they aren't licensed in America, but people are redistributing across the world for free, thus making the official distributors lose money.

Sakura_Angel1230 That's rock's. But they'll probably change alot of things. I don't think so...? o.O Well, the only thing that Tokyopop will probably change is the covers. That's why I like Viz Media. They sell for the cheapest and don't screw the covers. Del Ray sells for $11.
