My husband and I became Mac converts last year. He went first, and I went sort of kicking and screaming. I had a bad experience with Macs in a college math lab, about 13 years ago. OS X is great, and I can't wait for Leopard! BTW, my hubby is a whiz software architect/developer and worked as Director of Microsoft Technology in one of his previous jobs. So if he's a convert, Mac must be great. Also, with Parallels/Boot Camp, there's nothing you can do on a PC that you can't do on a Mac.

Mac OS for the win.
My Dad always prefered Apples (despite always using Windows at work) - so I naturally went the same way as him, having a computer constantly updated with the new OS (it drove our first iMac to destruction). I've had pretty much equal use of both Mac and Windows - at home and school (respectively), so my choice is not blind.
Apples just seem better to Windows PCs - run better and have less pointless complications and bugs. Now with parallels - there's jsut no read need for a PCs anymore.
Never used Linux or ubuntu though. :/

I use linux. I got fed up with windows me crashing for the 50 billionth time, so I changed.
I really dislike Microsoft. It's just a pain. It acts up all the time.

I've only ever used Windows at home, but I've heard some really good stuff about Apple. The only thing stopping me from converting over to a Mac right now is the fact that I play a lot of games... Does Mac support most of the games Windows does?

I use Windows Vista, which is pretty much Windows' attempt to become more like Mac. I would like to be able to learn how to use Linux, because it confuses me and is useful for tech support.

Windows, sort of by default. My laptop was on sale & came equipped with it razz As far as most of what I do (90% Word Processing 10% modding BG2), I cannot really see any difference between the two--at the U, I tended to use whichever computer was available, Mac or PC, and at that level there's no discernible difference.

Linux, then Apple, and Windows not at all. Maybe this isn't the OS's fault. but we did recently get a new family computer with Windows Vista, and it doesn't have a word processor program. Lame.

I've only ever used Windows. I would like to learn how to use Linux and Mac seems to get good reviews. the only problem is that most computer games are for windows only. Also very few programs run on Linux.

The new version of Vista comes with a demo version of Microsoft Office. It expires in about 30 days, so if you've had the computer longer than that... You probably don't have a word processor. Download OpenOffice, much better than Microsoft Office anyhow.
I personally use Vista, but that's because it came with my computer. I prefer Linux... I have the same problem that it doesn't support my games and such. I may switch over to Unix, but I don't know.
I've only used Macs occasionally, and from what I've seen I'm not very fond of them. I like them about the same as Windows though, so I can't do much complaining. I have a hacker friend who has all three major OS running on his computer. That would be the best for anyone, I think.
