I've got the Doctor/Master relationship thinig my head. I keep replaying the bit where he says "Master." in my head. There's something about it.....
There's a history between the Doctor and the Master, and much speculation of it's nature. Brothers, friends, master and pupil? Let your imagination run wild!

"Coincidentally" (which can also be read as "because I read spoilers") I was watching the TV-movie yesterday... of course, that's got the Master in~! ^^ yay! I don't really know much about their link. I mean, there were a lot of hints about the Doctor being a father once in series2, but whether they were just because he must have been a father to be Susan's grandfather or if there was any greater significance, I don't know. I think that they were, at some stage, going to make the Master his brother, but ditched that. If they're bringing it back, I dunno though... could be interesting to see though! What they make of that relationship. Personally, I wonder if there might just be a "oh, he's my arch-enemy" solution, but we'll see...
(also, that bit where he's like "I... am... the Master" is my text-alert now! ^^
EDIT - Capitalised master in the title. pet-peeve, sorry~!

I have done some researching about the Master =D The Doctor and the Master seem to have similar levels of intelligence As they were classmates in the academy on Gallifrey. And in 'The Five Doctors' the elderly First Doctor asks, "Do I know you, young man?" The Master replies, "Believe it or not, we were at the academy together."

O.K, so this was a daydream I had in bed last night. I was envisioning the both of them as David and John, which makes no sense, but what the hey, they were both younger then. Yeah, so, in my daydream, the Doctor was new to the academy, while the Master was in his second year. And, this is kinda weird, but the Doctor is bullied by the Master (who is sorta like the kingpin of his year). This slowly becomes a slightly odd friendship/rivalry (them both being of similar intelligence). I'm working on building this up into something that could be turned into a fanfiction.

The Time Lords always struck me as a race who value intelligence much more than physical strength. So I have a hard time thinking of "bullying" in a Gallifreyan academy. Unless there's some kind of intellectual element to it, and the Doctor would have been more than equipped to deal with it in that way.
I like the friendship/rivalry concept, though, because it seems they both have a distaste for the Time Lords' "sit back and watch" mentality. They just each do things differently. VERY differently.

Well, if you watch The Sound Of Drums, there's a bit about this...
Martha: So what's the deal with the Master, what is he to you? Doctor: Friends at first. (pops a chip into his mouth) Martha: Oh. I thought you were going to say he was your secret brother or something. (The Doctor and Jack both stare at her) Doctor: (surprised) You've been watching too much TV.
