What kinds of things do you do to calm yourself down or to bring yourself up from the ditch?

I meditate to calm myself down. If I'm at work or somewhere I can't get alone to meditate, just take some deep breaths and let all the bad energy out. Or try to at least. Also, showering or bathing tends to calm me down, reading, listening to music is a big one for me as well. Hmm, other stuff, but I really can't think of it.
Oh yeah...
I talk about it to someone. Usually my mom, because if it's work-related, she can give advice.

I do much of the same that Forsaken does. If I'm out in public and I can't just get away from everything and chill myself out (the preferred method) I just take deep breath and I usually clench and unclench my fists because...Well when I was young and I was annoyed or angry or mad at myself I'd bang my hands on my forehead.
But, deep breaths and I just remind myself that whatever is making me angry is only effecting me because I'm letting it. If you realize how much control you have over your own emotions it's so much easier to deal with them. Just let whatever's happening to make you angry, whether it be a person or an event, fly in one ears and out the other just like your breathing comes in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Visualization also helps, though that's more for when I'm alone. I learned this in drama. This would be better if your trying to cheer yourself up or somehting along those lines. Visualize a color that invigorates you. A color that seems to give you energy and that feeling of "power". Then start taking deep breath (lots of breathing, eh?? lol) and imagine that color coming in with your breaths and filling your entire body with that powerful, invigorated feeling...It's helped me calm myself before I go onstage and I imagine it can help a little bit if your feeling sad.

Daisy and Forsaken, I'm kind of jealous of you guys for actually being able to do that. It seems like you just don't let things bother you for very long. I envy that. My temper is pretty short. When it snaps, I'm lucky enough to be able to hide the anger, but only to take it out and dwell upon it later and make a big fool of myself when trying to be clever at the moment something is said.
I'll try some of those breathing methods next time something really pisses me off.

Well when I'm really depressed or mad I find myself taking a nap to calm my self down. In other cases I'll find something to do to take my anger out on. Or just something to keep what ever is bugging me out of my head to just keep myself busy so I don't do or say anything I know I'll regret later.

Hm, let me see. I do a lot of things. It all depends on what's making me angry and how bad it is. I usually calm myself down by listening to soft music. Like maybe just intrusmentals of songs I like? Or I'll take a long, long, long shower. I'l go swim, it takes my mind off things. I usually, talk it out with someone though. I have friends, great friends! Who listen and are there for me, so I talk it out. Or I could just go in my basement and hit my punching bag. I took kick-boxing, so my equipment is still up. ^^
