Dad's parents used to own a greenhouse while he was growing up, and a couple of years ago when the greenhouse was torn down, Grandma saved a bunch of the square glass panes and frosted "Alisons Flowers 1939-1978 (Alison is our last name) on them and sent them out to all the kids. We've never gotten around to getting it framed, so Mother and I got it framed for Dad for Father's Day.
We also went to the Snake Alley Art Fair (every year on Father's Day, there's an art fair held on the
Snake Alley and up 6th Street. It's pretty cool.). We live literally two blocks from it (parking's a b***h on art fair days, we get people parking in our driveway, blocking the driveway, or if I take my car somewhere, my parking spot is gone), so we just walk up and look around every year. We got Dad a really cool wooden fountain pen made by some guy from Cedar Rapids.
Other than that, we just sat around the house all day. Tonight I'm ditching Dad and going to see the Steamboat Days (Midwest/Mississippi River carnival type thing) fireworks with my friends.
