Mooo [Anonymooo] vs. Kellindel [Kellindel]

Match Ends: Next Monday 9 PM Central

Zeal Palace

User Image

A sorcerer's chamber with a magical mirror at the end of the room. If it is broken, it instantly repairs itself. Within this room lurks a large amount of dark power, allowing for those of this element to use this to their advantage in getting an increase in the element's strength, while the power of holy is weakened here.

Ready?

FIGHT!

What the hell was with the new arena?

Kellindel futiley tried to keep his mind on the approaching fight as he gazed about the opulence of the room which had been set for his battlefield. Whatever the purpose for placing the fight here, it was lost to him as he attempted to calculate the collective value of everything in the room. The barren sand-covered platform from his previous bouts seemed so much more reasonable. This room was just going to get torn apart during the course of the fight, especially knowing Mooo's fighting style...

That put his mind back on track. The mental image of Mooo shattering the marble floor with one of his big, metal-plated, gorilla fists was instantaneously interposed with his ribcage and he locked onto the thought. Best to keep the battle in mind lest he miss out on something important during its course. He'd stretched before entering but he swayed from left to right, lightly pulling on his muscles, tendons and ligaments to keep them warmed up. It served to keep him loose and to put his mind back on more important matters.

He'd entertained himself with thoughts of this fight so far but he knew now that the time had actually arrived he had to be all business. Knowing his opponent, one wrong move could easily mean a quick and untimely death regardless of Mooo's intentions. The lug was just too strong for his own good.

Kellindel took several deep breaths and skipped his foot across the floor a few times, calming himself and testing his grip. Not nearly as great as he'd like but its not like he had any choice in the matter. He thought about drawing his swords but he didn't want to give Mooo the wrong idea if his opponent felt obligated to shake before the fight. Sure he wanted to bleed the b*****d, but he didn't want to make him think he wasn't his friend.

Utterly bewildered, Mooo stepped into the room, doing double-takes at almost everything there was to look at, scratching the top of his head with a puzzled, clueless look on his face, amazed that they were fighting, well... here. Hopefully, if anything got broken here, it wouldn't come out of the reward money... it would probably take a nice, fat chunk of it just to repair one of the columns if it broke... and that mirror. Mooo was growing more intimidated by the minute in this room, and it wasn't from Kell, which was a completely different cause for worry.

Still doing his sightseeing of the room, Mooo almost didn't see Kell, and stopped less than three feet away from him, backing away suddenly and almost getting into stance. "Hey, man," he laughed nervously.

"You, uh... y'know why we're here instead of in the sandbox we were in last time?"

Then from OOC land, Vintrict steps in, shouting loudly to them: "BLAME THE DAMN NUMBER GENERATORS. Now continue on. >>"

He then returns to the land on the other side, known as OOC.

Kellindel quirked an eyebrow, "maybe someone broke it... or maybe they just think it will make things more dramatic if we're fighting around things that will actually break. Speaking of which, I'd hate to be you right now. The worst I can do is scratch or rip something, but you... I don't remember hearing anything about waiving costs for damages and I'd hate to find out the wrong way how much a solid block of marble costs."

He did an excellent job of suppressing his grin. Maybe this wasn't so bad a battlefield after all. Best not let him think on that too much though.

His swords slid easily from their scabbards. "Best not make everyone wait much longer." He spoke easily, unobtrusively putting a bit more distance between himself and Mooo as he let the tip of his right blade descend to point at him. The other he held loosely out at his side in an almost lazy stance.

"Unless you're worried about causing property damage."

Mooo's face paled at the thought of going through so many rounds, only to spend most of his prize money paying for damages.

Swallowing hard, Mooo tried to push that train of thought out of his head, focusing only the idea of winning--without, y'know, destroying half the room.

He'd just have to be very, very careful.

"Well, uh..." Mooo stammered, glancing furtively around the room. "Yeah, you're right... let's get this show on the road," he croaked, not raising his hands in his usual defensive posture, but rather leaving them down by his sides, moving his feet shoulder-width apart. Kell used smallswords, which worked particularly well against fighters like him who barrelled on in. Mooo would have to be careful not to overextend himself, since Kell had a dangerous range advantage on him.

Lowering his head slightly, Mooo inched in closer, keeping his hands unclenched, hoping that Kell would make the first move so he could react from it.

Of course he would make the first move. Feints and trickery aside, it was just common sense for him to attack first. Despite the tremendous difference in size between the two Kellindel actually had the range advantage. It would only be prudent for him to make the most of that edge while he still had it.

Inch forward nothing.

The moment Mooo stepped just outside the range of his swords, Kellindel made his move. He half-stepped forward, letting his forward right foot slide a few inches toward Mooo on the slick marble surface, bringing Mooo's arms just within range of his weapon. His right arm extended outward in a classic fencing thrust aimed right for the narrow crack between Mooo's arms and at his face behind it. Then his arm flexed like awkwardly, rippling like a wave cresting from his shoulder toward the tip of his blade and snapping his sword downward and out of the way.

They were still in the midst of the preliminary exchange and Kellindel had little interest with attacking any vital points that might bring his own person in danger. But he didn't want it to look like it. His left blade shot forward as his right swept downward and to the side, his left foot lifting off the ground as if to follow through with the attack and add Kellindel's weight to the blow aimed at Mooo's stomach just under his elbows.

At the initiating movements to this second feint his real attack would strike. While his sword swept downward he released the handle for a fraction of a second, loosing the sword so that it would fly straight from his hand before snatching it again with his pinky just beyond on the pommel. This adding the few extra inches necessary for his sweeping blade to slash across Mooo's upper leg just a few inches higher than the knee. Kellindel enjoyed his range advantage and he wanted to keep it. The lightning fast flick of the blade would culminate just beneath Mooo's flesh on the outside of his leg and, hopefully, damage the muscle to hinder his movements and cause him pain whenever he stepped.

At this point he would push off his now planted right foot to bring himself back out of range once again, his left hand cocked to complete the trust that had only previously acted as a feint instead as a warning against Mooo's usual rushing attack.

It was one thing to want Kell to make the first move... but it was another thing entirely to see him actually do it. Mooo was fast for his size due to his considerable leg strength, but seeing the elf zip forward was like comparing tortoises to fighter jets.

Mooo was barely able to backpedal fast enough to get out of range of the first strike, which seemed strangely shallow even as it would have left a nasty slash across his face. His attention high, Mooo did see Kell's other arm dip low, but was instead trying to work out a strategy--should he charge in, should he take another backstep, should he--and then the sting of pain on his left leg brought him back to reality.

Kell's feint had succeeded. Too used to knock-down, drag-out slugfests in this tournament, Mooo completely forgot just how vicious a swordsman could be, especially one who didn't work in killer blows and instead whittled down their opponent. Hopefully the cut wasn't too deep, but Mooo would have to favor that leg for the time being.

As Kell made some distance, Mooo figured that he'd meet Kell's next rush with one of his own, and try to push his head into the elf's chest, and instead of trying to land a clean hit, he would throw out the largest swing he could to try and plant the fear of God into Kell--if such fear even existed, and Kell wasn't thinking the same thing he was.

Score one for the elf. That oughta remind Mooo just what he was dealing with here. It wasn't much but if it gave him even the smallest psychological advantage it was worth it. Mooo could certainly end this fight with a single punch but he wasn't going to have to hit and they both knew one of them wasn't having any of that. A painful reprisal for an attempt to pressure him would certainly get the gears working in Mooo's head and Kell had a fairly good idea where they would end up, where they almost always ended up.

A rush.

It looked like his guard was tightening Mooo up. He wanted Kell to come at him again. Unless he got Mooo to panic and start rushing him with abandon that was likely how things were going to play out. Best not to disappoint.

His legs nearly crossed as dashed back in, leading his quickstep with a lightning fast thrust at Mooo's left arm. Sure it was a more aggressive move than someone in his position would use, but slashing didn't exactly afford him much protection both because of Mooo's fighting style and strength. Luckily this weakness was true in both of them, using a boxing stance was only presenting his arms for attacking.

Again, he remained scant centimeters within the limit of his range, content to only keep Mooo's limbs within reach of his blades. Time to see what Mooo had up his sleeve.

Mooo's eyes were able to track Kell's movements--Kell was fast, but not superhumanly fast. He did see Kell take a very brief pause, then dash forward to him again, this time flicking his sword a little lower, not aiming for his head or face... so Mooo responded by dropping his left arm down and pushing outward with the back of his left glove. The metal bracer at the top of his hand met the first few inches of Kell's sword, Mooo not exactly smacking it away, but more guiding it away from his body as he dove on in, keeping his right arm close to his body, fist up near his chin.

Having blocked the sword, Mooo's right arm dipped back, then suddenly flung forward in a driving straight, aimed for the general area of Kell's chin, neck, and collarbone--it was a very telegraphed swing that Mooo intended to put all his weight into, so it wouldn't necessarily be accurate. Kell would see it coming, and most likely dodge it--but even a near miss with a swing like that would most likely turn the blood of someone Kell's size to ice.

It wasn't a bad plan Mooo had. Against anyone else of moderate intelligence who knew what those fists were capable of doing, Mooo most certainly would have set their hair on edge with a wild, dangerous attack. Kellindel however, was far more than passingly familiar with Mooo's capabilities. He had thought long and hard before this fight on how he might exploit these chinks in Mooo's armor. The conclusion he had come to was that it was indeed possible for him to win, if extraordinarily difficult, otherwise he likely wouldn't have decided to enter the ring in the first place.

However, even this wasn't the reason that Kellindel was able calmly watch such a lethal attack rocket toward his head. He had come to terms with the fact that just one punch could and would end this fight, he knew the risks he taking just to have a fight with Mooo and he had accepted them. If Mooo wanted to intimidate him with his power he was going to have to do a lot more than throw such a massive haymaker. On the contrary, that was just what Kellindel was hoping to eventually drive Mooo to start sending his way. He'd be lucky if Mooo threw another for quite a while but for the time being he was more than willing to take advantage of it.

Still the wind Mooo's punch set blowing Kell's hair backward even several inches shy of his face set his blood pumping and his adrenaline surging. He knew Mooo fully expected the punch to miss since if it had struck him it probably would've ripped his head clear off his shoulders. The tremendous range advantage gave him a sizable amount of time to react to attacks, however. Especially ones which were so obviously displayed before thrown. Lets see if Mooo expected a prompt response.

Kell's deflected sword shot snapped back in. Only guided away from Mooo's head and now at maximum extension it had no counteracting force preventing Kellindel from flicking the blade around like a fencer more concerned with scoring a touch than running his opponent through. Which was true of his current intentions. His hand dropped suddenly, bending backward to gently raise the tip of the sword upward in a short arc before whipping the whole weapon down like one might move to snap the moisture from a towel. It slashed downward toward Mooo's front leg.

His other weapon followed, cutting upward from Kellindel's side in a flicking diagonal slash aimed roughly at Mooo's armpit. Low enough so that it would score a torso blow if Mooo wasn't quick enough but high enough that it had a good chance of cutting the underside of Mooo's extended arm if he pulled back.

Kellindel's footwork shifted as he stepped away to return his equilibrium after leaning back, his left foot sliding behind his right in the almost classical fencing position. A light-footed stance that would allow for quick linear movement toward and away from his opponent. Just what he needed to keep out of reach.

Yes, in the end of the day Kell was pretty sure he had a good chance of getting hit. But in the end he had decided it was well worth bleeding Mooo out for as long as he could manage before one of the lugs ape fists slipped through.
