I've been doing some art for the first time in a long time. Working on a series called Snake Eye. When I have some time to scan it, here is where it shall be located.

The source is of Kurt Russell (playing my favorite action hero of all time, Snake Plissken). It was a pick I found online, I cropped it with photoshop down to just his eye and the patch.
My first entry is a photo entry composed using photoshop. I started off by going from color to black and white. Then I searched around for a snake skin pattern turned that into a background layer and then used a blending effect on the two layers (I wanna say it was darken). After that I went back to the source photo and very carefully selected the iris with the lasso and pasted the color eye onto my edited photo. After that, I fiddled around with the brightness-darkness and contrast sliders.

What I like about my first entry in the series is the subtle yet detailed effects in the edited photo. The blue eye on the green skin pops out at the viewer right away i think, but it isn't till your eye wanders a bit that you start to notice the snake skin blend (the snake blend being very appropriate, his nickname is snake after all). I like the fact that its walks a line between looking human and looking a bit reptilian, because the character identifies himself with animals more so then humanity in many aspects.

And thats all I have to say about that for now.
My next entry will be a drawing. I had already made said drawing, but upon closer inspection I'm not a hundred percent satisfied with the proportions. I tried fixing them with photoshop, but it didn't work as well as i wanted it to. I'll probably just end up drawing it again ... I could use the practice.
