So, how many people have read one of his books?
I highly recommend these fairy tale mockeries. The first three are well written, very entertaining, and play a lot of the stereotypes of fantasy novels (and, to a limited extend, rpgs). The fourth one seems to have lost a bit of his skill, but is still decent.
Here there are, with a brief summary.
Heroics for Beginners Kevin, a prince looking to win the hand of his well-proportioned girlfriend, has to deal with competition from and evil overlord. But the whole heroics thing is new to him, so, with the help of the trusty book Heroics for Beginners, he starts down his heroic path to overthrow the overlord - before someone else beats him to it.
The Unhandsome Prince Magic is supposed to have happy endings, with the girl getting the handsome prince, right? Well, here's the problem - as the title says, the prince isn't handsome. He's "cute." The main girl must now follow him back home, and try her best to fix the error in the fairy tale gone astray, but only has the help of the daughter of the witch who transformed him.
Bad Prince Charlie Everyone hates a bad king. But when the king shows up as a ghost, and demands that his son speak to him, there's very little you can do but pull him back from university and set him up to rule. But, the country is trying to shift towards a democracy, and in order to do that, they've got to make sure the peasants don't like royalty. So, Prince Charlie is set up to be the Prince Regent, and told to do the worst possible job he can. If you enjoy mockeries of Hamlet, this is definitely for you.
A Fate Worse than Dragons (released this year) What happens when you kill a dragon? You the hand of the beautiful princess of the country, right? Well...make sure you're in the right country, first. After nearly getting engaged to the wrong princess, Sir Terry must prove himself worthy of Princess Gloria's hand - so she arranges a kidnapping for him to rescue her from. If only things would ever follow the plan....
These are all amusing books, mocking fairytales and fantasy both (I keep saying that), and definitely worth a read. Pick them up if you can, and of course, discuss them here. Try to keep spoilers to a minimum, but feel free to analyze them.
And definitely keep one another informed on his newest.

I think its better than Xanth. Granted, I stopped reading Xanth at Yon Ill Wind, so it may have gotten better than I remember. Well, except for A Fate Worse than Dragons. Its definitely not his best.

Hard to say. On the one hand, I never finished Hitchiker's Guide (I'm about 75% through it). On the other, Guide is about 3 times as long as all of Moore's works together.
Guide also doesn't require pre-existing knowledge of fantasy or fairy tale conventions, whereas Moore's work (like any parody work) does. Especially Bad Prince Charlie; you won't enjoy it as much if you're not familiar with Hamlet.

Then, in that case, I finished Hitchiker's Guide, and am somewhere in the fourth or fifth book (I've got the giant volume that has them all, and its been over 3 months since I picked it up, so I've kinda forgotten which I'm in).
