http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/06/20/national/main2956093.shtmlWe've been losing more and more soldiers recently due to the new roadside bombs the "Iraqi insurgents" or whoever we're supposed to be fighting have developed. At least 10 Ohio military men have been killed by one in the past few weeks, including one I knew personally. I still fail to see what good we're doing over there other than increasing the death toll. There seems to be some warped opinion that since we unseated Hussein, we should help Iraq reestablish it's governmet - but that's a joke. Everybody knows it'd just be a puppet regime for our own benefit - we're not fighting for their freedom, and they don't want our help. There is going to be fighting whether we're ther or not - we can't solve anything - so we might as well just get the ******** out.
All of that aside... what the hell? A U.S. soldier goes missing, could possibly be dead, and you threaten to deport his wife? At that point, does it even matter if she has a green card? By enduring her husband's military leave, wondering every night whether he is alive or dead... hasn't she shown more "American patriotism" than most native citizens?
It just baffles me. Laws are there for a reason and all, but there are also times when they just don't apply.
