I've been kind of thinking about this due to the passing of my grandpa and uncle, as well as assisting one of the group home residents with grief after the death of his father, and I've become curious to see some of the different views of those in the guild.

My version is sort of comparable to What Dreams May Come (1998 movie staring Robin Williams). We choose what happens. We can either go to heaven, go to hell, relive our experiences, go to higher plains, or lower ones (depending on our vibration), return as guides, reincarnate, or act as fertilizer

Heheh talk about wishy washy eh xd .

But who says we just have to do one. I mean Robin Williams in the movie starts off the afterlife in a painting that becomes his heaven, goes to his soul mates version of Hell, then they both reincarnate. Mind you I don't want the Hell part of it. But I think you get the idea.

An afterlife Joke

A woman dies and makes her way up to the Pearlly gates, when St Peter steps in front of her and says.

"Due to free will, you get to choose whether you would like to stay in heaven or stay in Hell. To help you with that, you get to spend a week in each place and make your decision afterwards."

Thinking this would be fun, the woman decides to try heaven first. When she walks through the gates she is greeted by a nice sandy beach, a beach chair under a large umbrella with a good book and her favorite drink waiting for her. At first she thinks this is really nice, She reads the book and another one appears, her drink never empties, the sun never gets too hot, but the water is always refreshing. But before the end of the week comes, things start to feel a bit dull and rather bland.

Finally, the week is over. And her visit to Hell begins. At first she is a bit hesitant, but she is met by a receptionist who shows her around an awesome resort. With various recreation activities including a pool, tenis court and golf course. The woman is treated like a queen, pedicures, manicures, massage, and for the evening is invited to a huge banquette with her choice of gowns and evening wear. She has a grand time, and before she realizes it, her week is over and she has to return to see St. Peter and make her choice.

"So have you decided?" St. Peter askes
"Yes I have. I would like to go to Hell." She replies.
"Are you sure? You understand that you will have to spend all eternity there."
"I'm positive." She says. "Heaven is nice and all, but there is no excitement. Hell, was increadible. I think I will be more happy there."
"If you are absolutely certain then..."
"I am."

At that the woman returns to Hell and sees the same receptionist as before.

"Oh good you came back. You can start by sweeping up the nail clippings, then when our new arrival comes you can give her a massage, and when you are done that there is a tone of laundry and banquette dishes that need to be done."

"Wait, wait!" Cries the woman. "This isn't what I signed up for what about the special treatment and fun."

"Oh that." Replies the receptionist. "Before you were our guest. Now you are staff."

teeheehee! I like that joke! I've got one thats a bit pg-13 (maybe 15).

So three people get to the pearly gates. St. Peter stops them and tells them that they must each answer one question before they can enter the gates.

They all look at each other and agree that that is OK.

So, St Peter asks the first person, "Who was the first man?"

First person: "Adam." Bells ring and the gates open as the first person walks in.

St Peter turns to the second person, "Who was the first woman?"

Second person: "Eve." Bells ring and the gates open as the second person walks in.

St Peter finally turns to the third person, "What was the first thing Eve said to Adam?"

Third Person: "Ooh, thats a hard one." And as she thought bells rang and the gates opened for her.

Ok, seriously though.

My Aunt believes in reincarnation, but not so much to the extent of reincarnation until enlightenment. I have to agree with her on it as well.

I more or less believe that we are born time and time again because there is something here that we are to learn and someone here that we are to help. During that time, we also search for our soul-mate.

When we die, we can wait around for a while watching people-loved ones-until it is our time to come back to Earth. During the time of waiting, we can be on many different planes.

I don't believe in a Heaven or a Hell, or a Hunting Ground. I believe that these were stories of sorts that are told to people to help them accept death easier (and in the case of Hell, to help them be an all around better person). I don't really have anything against teaching of such things, as they do help people feel more comfortable about something that is inevitable. Actually, sometimes, believing in a Heaven where everything is perfect, does sound like such a bad idea. Its just a bit boring and naive to me.

But that is entirely my opinion. I respect others who firmly hold the view that there is a Heaven and a Hell. I respect all opinions. There will never be a right or wrong answer unless people die then come back with a memory of what happened.

I believe in alot of things, I was brought up with the belief system of christianity, however over the years its left alot of questions...

I also believe in reincarnation. I believe that if we haven't learned the lessons that are required for us to move on then we must remain here and learn them in one form or another. It's certainly better than spending eons in purgatory.

I think that Heaven and Hell are definitely a quick fix to good and bad behavior (some people are convinced they're going to Heaven and it gives them an excuse to behave badly).

Actually in the medieval times, the priests would tell some people whether or not they were going to heaven. The people that knew they were going to heaven would act good (because they were afraid it would switch), and the others would act the same (what's the point of trying to be extra good if there is no chance in getting into heaven?).

Myself, I very much believe in reincarnation. I've met many people in this life time that I have never met before but...somehow we know eachother, or even falling for someone too early in a life time and having to wait for the next life time to happen.

I don't like the idea of our souls only lasting once and then going to some after life. To me that seems such a waste really. I know I've lived in many lives before this one. I'm very sure that's why I hold such a strong love for Medieval and Egyptian times.

I definitely believe in reincarnation. It has a lot to do with the purpose of life.

I don't believe in reincarnation, so much as I know it is a truth. I have lived many lives, here and elsewhere, and I am sure of this because I have been lucky enough in this lifetime to see them. My therapist is a past-life regression therapist, and i've visited 4 or 5 of these lives.

I find it very interesting to see the same themes that are causing pain for me in this life are themes I had lived in and through many times. And lliek Arkham said, there are folks i meet in this lifetime that I know I have known before, and I've found that we have chosen to live.... hmmmm.. how to put it... parallel existences?.... so we revisit the same themes together. My younger brother, who was killed in a car accident 16 ears ago in this life, was my older brother in another life, and was taken from me then also. Even as that reinforced the pain, it assured me I will see him again and again!

I'm not sure what I believe about what happens after all the reincarnations... I'm still seeking and finding in that arena!

Pretty much most of the people we meet we have encountered at some point in previous lives. And will encounter them again in the next one.

The theory I am most comfortable with is that reincarnations are about self discovery and finding our greatest potential. That once we have completed the tasks, lessons and challenges successefully we will ascend into an even greater awareness, and either become teachers, or merge with the ultimate awareness.

Well if that's the case, I'll certainly be back since I really didn't exceed my potential in this life (it reminds me often), but maybe I'll get it right next time.

That place gave me nightmares for weeks, it was the most unsettling experience I have ever endured. Even though what I saw was only a very brief glimpse I am in no hurry to go back there. The feeling of knowing you are in a place that you absolutely do not belong existing yet, and the amazing, but incredibly bizarre and unsettling nature of the place just... Yeah it's not something I want to see a third time.
