Hail Mary, full of grace, The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Some say that the Virgin Mary, Mother of Christ, is a holy woman, the Mediatrix, the intermediary between the prayers of man and the Almighty. Others say that she is merely a woman God chose to carry His son. Others say that her image was actually that of the pagan queen Semiranis posing as a holy woman. What do you think? Holy Mary, Mother of God? God's tool? Or the harlot queen of Babylon?

Roman Catholicism created the idea that Mary was sinless (without original sin), stayed as a virgin all her life and she ascended into Heaven just like Jesus did. Of course, you will not find this in Scripture but you will find them in the Pope's letters and confessions. This is one of the reasons why I'm a Protestant. If you visit South America area, you will definitely see idolatry, professing Christians worshiping Mary rather than Christ. Its sad...

Its sad... yea it is sad, roman catholics pray to Mary and other saints rather and God, rather than only God. I mean, it's great that Mary trusted in God enough to trust that she was going to have a child even when sh ewas a virgin, but she's not God. And, she didn't stay a virgin her whole life, Jesus had brothers.

Galadedrid Damodred And no, Roman Catholics do not pray to Mary and the saints. It is the belief of Catholics that Mary and the saints pray to God on their behalf. This is a problem between Protestants and Roman Catholics. I know every Roman Catholic that I have meet has denied that they do not worship Mary or the Saints. But the issue what we Protestants try to show is that the communication link between believer and Mary is the same as you would pray to God himself. The reasons why Roman Catholics talk to Mary and the Saints is the belief that they are closer to God in Heaven. I remembered a quote from a Jesuit, Mitch Pacwa who stated that in-order to know Christ, you would have to know Mary, for she is the Mother of Christ. If you do not know Mary then you do not know Christ. My point is why do us Christians have to communicate to Mary and the Saints? Why not communicate God himself? The Jews prayed to Yahweh without exceptions. Also, the Papal authority behind these beliefs are disturbing. Pope Pius XII "Enraptured by the splendor of your heavenly beauty and impelled by the anxiety of the world, we cast ourselves into your arms, O, immaculate mother of Jesus, and our mother, Mary. God crowned you Queen of the Universe. O, crystal fountain of faith, bathe our minds with eternal truths; O, fragrant lily of all holiness, captivate our hearts with your heavenly perfume. O, conqueress of evil and death, inspire in us a deep honor of sin. O, well beloved of God, hear the ardent cries which rise from every heart in this year dedicated to you: convert the wicked, dry the tears of the afflicted and the oppressed. Comfort the poor and the humble, quench hatred, sweeten harshness. In your name, resounding harmoniously in heaven may they recognize they're all brothers. And, finally, happy with you we may repeat before your throne that hymn which is sung today around your altars: You are all beautiful, O, Mary, you are the glory; you are the joy; you are the honor of our people." This is why we Protestants believe that the Roman Catholic Church has created idolatry. Now, I don't make these comments out of hate but out of love and worry. I respect my brothers in the Roman Catholic Church but I fear the falsehood behind these beliefs.

Galadedrid Damodred Don't you mean Peter? "Upon this rock I will build my Church"? Pietro e la pietra. Peter was part of it but not all the credit goes to him alone. Matthew 16:18-19, Jesus speaks of Peter's faith. Peter was a moving force, a chief Apostle in the Church, there's no doubt. Let me quote Ephesians 2:20, "Built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone." In 1 Peter 2:6, "Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in Him" - not Peter but Christ - "will not be put to shame." Now, the keys of the kingdom were the power to bind and loose. Peter had that power, but it wasn't Peter's power alone. Matthew 18:18-19 gives that power to you and to me to pray together that we may bind or loose.
