I arrived at the academy when all of a sudden there was a blaring voice. I looked up to see a dot on top of the kage's office. He said something about being the 'new' kage. I let out a soft sigh as I opened the door.
"I was liking that last one. And this one was kind of sounding like a jerk. I'll try him out... but if he does anything dumb..."
I took a step into the academy and waved to a few of the teachers who were near their doors and into the library. I picked up a book and started reading it. It was about how we, the ninja, were supposed to be quick in thought as well as our bodies. It went on about the substitution technique and how this was the perfect simulation.

"One can substitute himself with anything
if he is fast enough. But one who is truly
quick, will replace himself with the perfect anything."

I thought on this a moment.
On the water, I lost my concentration and when I tried to regain it, I only panicked and did the exact opposite. Substituting myself will fail if I panic. And so will anything else that I do. I'll have to be calm when I do anything, and think quickly. Hmm... Man, I love books.

I finished that book and my head was feeling only a little heavy. I picked up another. "Ninja basics" Through the first 10/50 pages it was pretty much the same as the last book but this one began to list techniques performed by previous ninjas that were said to be the easiest to do. For instance, a genjutsu or illusion technique called, "Replication". It goes on to describe an advanced form of the technique called the shadow replication but it doesn't describe anything more.
In the academy, we were taught that chakra was the life-blood of ninjas. Without it, some of the most amazing things that we see are impossible. The book says the same thing, and describes exactly how to perform the replication technique. I took the book with me and hurried outside.
I sat the book down, after placing a book-mark in the shape of a monkey with an afro holding up a peace-sign, and performed the hand-seals slowly. Muscle memory would kick in after doing a few hundred times, so that's what I did first. The same two hand-seals over and over...
after I got that down, I was ready to actually do it. I performed the hand-seals and released the chakra flow! In a puff of smoke, on my left side, a look alike appeared next to me. It held up the same hand-sign and even had the same outfit. Luckily my face was covered so there isn't much for me to replicate. But... there ya go! I done it!
In poofed away and now I just had to master it by making more, and making them move.
I did the hand-seals and in a puff of smoke another clone appeared and I got him to move as if he were me, and it vanished again. I did the seals again and another appeared, along with two more, and there ya go! I'm a beast! I even got them to move. Damn I'm good...
After that technique, another 'basic' was changing one's appearance. Pretty much just using chakra to make people think you looked like something else. I got that down quickly. I performed the hand-seals and with a poof I was looking like a rock. I poofed back to normal and practiced the hand-seals so I would remember them.

I fell asleep while reading so many books and absorbing so much knowledge and I was now letting it leak out of my mouth in the form of saliva. But I quickly sucked it all back up when I heard yet, another announcement. Now... we're at war with the mist village. Damn... I already don't like this new kage. I just hope he doesn't become all "I control the world!!" and whatever.
I lifted my head up and closed the book I was reading. The book was about how the amazing things done by ninjas were done.

"Everything is simple. Nothing is impossible."

And than it gets technical, but that quote was pretty much all I needed to know. I was on my way to do whatever the hell I wanted. I walked out of the academy ready to train like a mad-man! I just needed some ideas... so I thought to sleep on it some more.
