I now have Morrowind and Oblivion and after playing Oblivion I don't think Oblivion lived up to the hype. Don't get me wrong, Oblivion is great as is Morrowind but I don't think that bethesda did their best on Oblivion. Its missing some of the things that made Morrowind great. Oblivion has awesome graphics and a brilliant new combat system that puts Morrowinds one to shame, and a bunch of other things. But Morrowind was like another world, it paid alot of attention to religion and you could actually almost feel the tension between the political houses. Oblivion also cut back on alot of things, like factions, I believe there is about 5 or 6 in Oblivion while the is like 15 in Morrowind. And the skill layout, Oblivion cut out medium armor (which sucks) and bound all of the blade skills into one. I think that it gives your character too much room. e.g. One minute you could be playing the almighty warrior running around with your claymore and heavy armor, plowing down everyone that stands in your way. And then all you would have to do to become an assasin, is get out a dagger and put on some light armor. I don't know if anyone will understand, but it takes away all of the time and training of putting up a blade skill because, if you have done up your blade skill, it is extremely simple to start using short blades. It takes all of the care out of weapon skill. (in my opinion) Also, they cut out Throwing stars, Darts, Crossbows and Spears! It takes even more diversity out of the game that Morrowind had. The skill perks are a welcome change though. Each skill, once it gets up to a certain level, gets added bonuses. e.g. Light armor lasts 50% longer for a journeyman of light armor. Oblivion's AI is so much better than Morrowind's though. People actually sleep, lock up shops at night, have their own conversations in the street and much more! I could go on forever about the pros and cons of these two games but the point I want to get across is what people think is better,
Morrowind? Or Oblivion?

Wouldn't it be nice to plunder with your eyes
Whatever there's for you to see is yours to be Your link doesn't work. =P
But I think Oblivion is more of an easy game for some reason. Because on Morrowind they just start you off on Seyda Need and tell you to walk for like 40 mins to Balmora to find some random semi-nude guy. >.< Oblivion just sets you off on the main story right away.
Unless I'm mistaken and haven't played long enough through the Blades' missions(What I'm assuming is the main story) does it get much deeper or what? The reason I'm questioning it is because of the speed players that beat Morrowind at level 1 with an Orc in under 40 mins, and really, I just can't put two and two together.
Let me be there, just tell me you don't care
Just say you pay me after life, however high the price

Yeah, very true. They should have kept medium armor though. And they should have kept all of the different armor pieces. not just cuirass, greves, boots, helm and gauntlets.

There are many things that should have been carried over in Oblivion, like having the separate pieces of armor, and the weapons they took out. But Oblivion is still a better game in my opinion, you dont have to read so much. And you don't have to walk all the time unless you haven't found the pl;ace yet, otherwise you can fast travel. Plus you can own horses, and you can see your weapon when its not equipped.

Yeah, but why doesn't oblivion have teleportation or levitation?! I know they don't have levitation because the imperial city is actually made of interior cells but I mean, why weren't they exterior cells?! I think the two games are even.

Yeah, I think Oblivion should have teleportation spells, but then the game might be easier. Since Fast Traveling is just like teleporting (Except that it actually calculates the in-game time it would take to get there and thats how much the time goes by when you get there), but you cant use it indoors.

Yeah, I think fast-travelling makes things a bit too easy though. Teleporting in Morrowind could be kind of challenging because you actually had yo get the spell or scroll or whatever. They also should have kept the fact that you could rest in the wilderness.

They also should have kept the fact that you could rest in the wilderness. Well for fast traveling you have to find the location first. And yeah, you should be able to rest in the wilderness

Morrowind. Sure, you miss more often, but honestly, the vanilla of Morrowind completely OWNS vanilla Oblivion.
Oblivion pros -Miss less -Better archery -Good graphics -Less ugly silver weaponry -Better AI Oblivion cons -No crossbows -No spears -No beating sticks (Non magic staffs) -Less armor -Cliche name -Even shorter woodelves -NO BENTLEGGERS!

Ok, everyone hates me. well after this. I could not stand the bent legs >.< they annoyed me greatly. The woodelves are shorter? Well seeing as how I havent played Morrowind for months now...lol
I'd have to agree with the less armor, no spears, no crossbows, and no non magic staffs. -Definently isnt enough types of armor. They should have kept the separate glove/gauntlet thing, the pauldrons, etc. Plus, they needed more types of armor. Besides changing the name of the armor, also change the look! -Spears would REALLY make the game more of an RPG (Oooo a soldier with a spear! Holy cow!) -The crossbows would just simply be fun (Hit someone in the head and they do flips....but just more than with a normal bow lol) -And staffs....well, it would be fun to use a stick and bash someones skull in, now wouldnt it?

It's hard to choose between these two games, but I'd have to go with my gut and say Morrowind. True, I don't own Oblivion (I play my friends on the 360) but I've beaten it before and I miss a lot of what made Morrowind fun. One of my favorite things to do is boost up my Unarmored skill and just wear clothes. I find it odd that if you boost up Unarmored it is better than even Heavy Armor and you can't do that in Oblivion.

I would have to pick Morrowind too-Oblivion sure is pretty with the more advanced AI, but it just doesn't hold up to the atmosphere Morrowind had. Also, it took me such a long time to develop my Morrowind character that I felt a little more personally involved with the things she was doing and the decisions she made than my Oblivion character (Of course I am a more experienced gamer now, so maybe that had something to do with how much faster this one developed-just making better decisions about skills choices etc., but I don't really think that's it). All in all both are fun, but my heart really rests with Morrowind.

im going to say morrowind because i feel that oblivions storyline was far to short and simple there was far more storyline in morrowind and it was a beter storyline and oblivion is to easy to beat i mean comon if you cant kill the important people what chalenge is there if you kill someone important in morrowind you prety much just lost the game sure there are other ways around it but the slitest misshap and finishing the main quest is out of the question in oblivion you can only nock them unconcious after ther health is gone but they get right back up and act as if nothing happend makeing the main quest to easy in oblivion that is my case
