It's kinda funny how people say that Digimon is stupid, yet it's one of the highest posted animes on the page. And kingdom Hearts is the highest posted game next to FFVII. Those are my own favorite topics there. Anyone wanna share their thoughts?

I can't say that Kingdom Hearts rates terribly high on my list of interests, but from what I've seen it's a respectable series. Lack of the proper system and a slight distaste arising from over exposure to a rabid fan are to blame, but it's decent. Digimon on the other paw...love it. Most of those that attack it are probably basing their judgment on bias toward the 'kiddier' anime and the way it was heavily overblown upon first hitting the american market. Sad really, the 'living data' concepts that it introduced, along with a long history of very dark characters make for an excellent starting point for fic writers (not me, but that's another topic...).

Sadly, with the popular subjects; Naruto, Inuyasha, Bleach, and a few others keeping a strangle hold on the majority of readers and posters, the other fandoms are left to suffer...and ff.net killing the NC-17 listing did heavy damage to the Digimon archive, or so I heard.

I think one of the reasons people say that Digimon is stupid is because they seem to think of it as a clone of Pokemon. Not many people see past the cute "mascots" and look to the plot behind each season. Digimon has always facinated me, even if I think they took things a bit to far; the fourth season and on never really clicked with me. However, I still love the show, and the symbolism that you can find within it.

Kingdom Hearts, meanwhile, was big before it even came out; and I adore it just as much, if not more, than Digimon. The overall story is fantastic and I positively adore the characters. Disney merged with Final Fantasy is too cracktastic not to work so well. Plus, it's the key to crossovers, the bridge between worlds that opens up countless opportunities for fanfiction. My only regret about the game is that there's not enough actual gameplay; a little too much video. Amazing video, but too much all the same.

Funny how many see Digimon as a clone of Pokemon when the former is actually older by a few years. Granted, the actual Digimon most think of is younger, but the origion of its concept isn't.

Ha. When I first heard of Digimon, I thought it was a clone of Pokemon. So I said 'I hate that show'. Now that I've actually seen most of most of the seasons, I love it. I'm working on a fanfic for it right now, the title is Return, and it's on fanfiction.net, written for the third season. (at least, I hope it's the third season). It's a little strange, but I like it.

I know, it's funny how people work. Pokemon was big before Digimon was, and as such, it was treated as a clone. Aside from the basic idea of little creatures as partners, however, there aren't really many similarities to the two (that come to mind at the moment, at least). There is a lot more plot to the Digimon series, in all of its seasons, for one thing. Pokemon is repetitive, and the only reason I come back for more is...I don't, I not for the anime series at least. I saw the Diamond and Pearl episodes and promptly turned the channel.

They keep the Pokemon series going as a plug to sell their games and other rather pointless merchandise. You would think by now that people would get sick of the nearly mary sue Ash Ketchum (AKA Golden Boy) who just happens to be in the right place at the right time to not ony meet up with the new 'starting out' character, but to also run into the Series other overused character, Brock. Now, don't get me wrong; the series might have a few good points, but at the moment I fail to see them.

Mind you, I'm a die hard Pokemon fan yet the overly sappy style combined with, as was noted already, the horribly repetitive plot for each season I fail to find even a single reason to bother watching. (The games are better anyway).

I like the 3rd Digimon, or whatever it was called. It has been awhile since I have watched it. (9th grade) but I really like the characters, storyline and graphics.

Tamers, that's about where the series started to go downhill.

At first I didn't really understand Digimon but after seeing a few episodes from the first season I started to really like it. But I didn't really like the later seasons. I also thought Digimon was a clone of Pokemon before. I know better now, but I still like pokemon better, not the TV series, the games. I can't stand to watch the series anymore, the first season I liked but after that it got repetitive.

I actually really liked the third season of Digimon, but that was the last season I liked. The plot started out slow, and I almost abandoned it--only reason I stayed was because I loved Digimon and was crossing my fingers, desperately hoping it would never end--but it was so worth the wait, IMO. Again, the first season will always be my favourite, but it was a great show.

I abolutely adored the first season of the Pokemon anime, and various episodes of later seasons. Otherwise, give me the games and I'm more than happy, but a big "no, no, no" goes to the anime.

Pokemon will never die, and even if it does, we'll still be playing the games. cool

I think that after the fourth movie or so, they should have just let the Pokemon series die. Like previously mentioned, its repetative.

You know my favorite part? I don't even think they have any of the original voice actors anymore (at least, I know, judging by the episode I caught last week when there was nothing on my TV, that Eric Stuart isn't voicing Brock anymore and Ash's voice is different. XD)

I never liked Digimon, but I never saw it as a copy of Pokemon. The latter series hit my school in a very big way in third grade (it was so funny. I remember this boy I know showing me a picture of James and I was like 'OMG Its Prince Diamond from Sailor Moon' XD XD ).

I think that a main part of its numbers on ffn is the fact that its been around so long, but also because it was around about the time ffn first started.

It also depends on the fans that hang around. Speaking from experience in the Yugioh fandom, most of the well-written authors who were so into the original Japanese version of the anime hit a point where they couldn't deal with the fanbrats and have left or 'grown-out-of-it'. (I can think of two off the top of my head, one isdrifting a bit though) But the fanbrats themselves continue to hang around, post crap for stories and telling each other how fandiddlytastic they are. Its sickening.

Interestingly enough, Pokemon only has around fifteen thousand stories, despite its longevity in brainwashing children. XD

I think the only anime where the additional seasons didn't seem like complete crap was Sailor Moon. Or at least it seemed that way to me. Some parts in the Yugioh series (Doma and Kaiba Corp Grand Prix for example) were just fillers. The thing I always liked least, of course, was the obsessiveness of the card games (by the way, I thought Yugioh was the stupidest thing immaginable when it first aired. XD). I mean, honestly, dragging a duel out for seven episodes because 'The fate of the World depends on it' is completly ridiculous. But I always liked the characterization and the main plot (which was finding out the Pharaoh Spirits name).

Hmm....that started out with a point and turned into a Yugioh-based rant. Go figure. sweatdrop

I like the movies...well, besides the horrible Destiny Deoxys...(Could have had a 2 on one fight, the kid saves the two Pokemon and gets over his fear but no; we get that craptastic feel good bit)

I liked Digimon alot. The second season especially Cody was the cutest thing. First season though you had TK and then came Kari both being the cutest in the bunch. Now pokemon I love from the beginning but once they got past the thrid season it started to get boring and then we came to see Max and Mae the cutest set of siblings in the whole series. I like the coordinator stuff they added in it wasn't just about Ash anymore and it seemed more fun. The Pokemon movies were okay but Digimon was way better. Here I am a 22 year old liking these cartoons is that so bad. Please no one hurt me.
