An Unborn LifeYou won't find this scent in any department store or fancy boutique. The scent of an unborn life is the amniotic fluid the fetus floats in during the stages of its development. Some people describe it as scentless, others say it smells of an alkaline cleaning solvent, while others say it smells of almonds. However, the fact that the amniotic fluid is being smelled means the child inside the mother's womb is about to be born. This won't do, which means the child inside must, subsequently, die in order to maintain this scent.
For my quest, An Unborn Life (here-on known as AUL) is an odd mixture of the cleaning solvent, almonds and the barest hint of blood and saliva. Why blood and saliva?
Filipino folklore speaks of a creature known as a
Manananggal. This creature is a woman by day. She does not appear suspicious, or dangerous, or even in the least bit threatening. But come nightfall, she finds a hiding place, far from prying eyes and it is there does she sever her torso from her lower body.
Bat-like wings grow on her back, and her tongue becomes long and probiscuous. It is with this straw-like tongue does she feed upon her victims. But what are her victims?
Yes, you guessed it. Unborn children.
