Quote: xxxxred fan coral-iciligorgia schrammiA sea fan is a form of sessile colonial cnidarian, similar to a sea pen or a soft coral, found in tropical and subtropical seawater. Individual tiny polyps form a colony that is erect, flattened, branching, and reminiscent of a fan. A colony can be several feet high and across but only a few inches thick. They may be brightly coloured, often purple, red, or yellow.
The main structural skeleton of a sea fan colony is formed from a flexible, horny substance called gorgonin, with living polyps covering the surface. Unlike corals, sea fans do not attach themselves to a hard substrate: instead, they anchor themselves in mud or sand. Each sea fan polyp has eight tentacles which catch plankton that is consumed. The "fan" is often oriented across the prevailing current to maximise water throughput and hence food supply. They may also contain algae which photosynthesise.
Sea fans (order Gorgonacea) are classified in the phylum Cnidaria, class Anthozoa, alongside the orders Alcyonacea (soft corals) and Pennatulacea (sea pens). taken from wikipediathe spirit of coral Spirit: coral. Name: Genevive Gender: female Appearance: Body: Skin the color of porcelain, Gen is basically white. Like horns, thick white and red stalks of coral protrude out from her head. Two broken off pieces of coal are also tied onto the white coral stalks, acting almost like a reminder. Four thin red stalks also wrap around her torso and form an outer ribcage of sorts. Hair: Her hair is a rich red color that’s wavy and resembles the coral that she’s made of. The style is a simple one where her face is accentuated by a thick band of bangs and two layers.
Eyes: Some say that when you look into a person’s eyes you can see their soul. With Genevieve, that’s not the case. When a person looks at Genevieve she appears rather daunting (even when she’s not trying to) Gen’s eyes are large, black and empty. One can’t even differentiate the pupil from the iris as both are almost melted to together.
Personality: Genevieve is cold and not easily moved. She’s not the type of person that’s stirred by death or a sad movie. Gen doesn’t really take the initiative to talk to people, but instead waits for them to make the first move. However, when she does speak to people she is rather sarcastic with a bitter undertone; she’s not the most inviting person to communicate with. For instance, every time the opportunity arises, Genevieve never hesitates to criticize someone or throw some smut into the context. Sometimes it’s to make herself feel more superior and at other times it’s because she just feels like it.
Genevieve also enjoys her personal space and when someone crosses ‘the line’ Genevieve is not exactly thrilled. This notion also pertains to sharing as Gen doesn’t like her personal property touched, whether it be friends or her favorite toy, it’s all out of reach.
Genevieve can be extremely selfish at times. She never really thinks of others and most of her actions reflect her needs. She’s not the type that acts as a good hostess either. When someone comes over Genevieve isn’t exactly the one to offer them a drink. Boy, playing tea party with others is certainly hard, Genevieve rather just pure herself all the tea instead of using the tea party etiquette of pouring your company first. Abilities: possessions

Name: Tea Occupation: amateur writer Current residence: the city. Age: early 20’s, fresh from college and trying to make a living for herself. Personality: Tea is the nice girl. The girl that plays it safe. No shrimp or pineapple on her pizza! She can’t seem to tell a person NO when she really rather not ‘empty Mrs. Walter’s cat liter or walk around the corner to get Mr. Walter a crunch bar.’ However, Tea can appear to seem ‘unconscious’ she is usually caught up in her own little world, stories floating through her mind waiting to be embedded onto a fresh sheet of paper. Likes: writing, sunshine gleaming through her dirty window, waking up to cuddling cats, fresh coffee, and old pizza. Dislikes: cat barf, stepping in cat barf in the morning, bald spots, stepping in dog s**t in the afternoon. Abilities: Tea is a medium, meaning she can see dead folk. Worst Super Power Ever. Theme song: We are the Sleepyheads- Belle and Sebastian. background info:Tea was born in a small rural area that would most likely be the equivalent of Iowa. She had never traveled or even been to the big city. Her family supported themselves solely through farming and well, accounting. After her senior year of highschool, Tea realized that her dream was to be an author. Thus she moved north to the big city to achieve her goal. It had been hard at first, moving away from her close-knit family and not seeing them months on end. Yet, Tea is thankful for the opportunity and never regrets her decision to move. Since a young age Tea had always seen strange forms lurking in the shadows. Sometimes these figures would come out from the darkness and play with her. Whenever Tea had tried to introduce her new friends to her parents, they looked at her as if she was insane. It wasn’t until she was 13 that Tea realized that these ‘friends’ had once been real people, these figures were deceased. The dead visit her less now, but sometimes she’ll get a visit from an old friend and talk about life (or the after life) over coffee. Her experiences as a medium had originally sparked her interest in writing. The ghosts continue to inspire her to this day and she often goes to them for advice. References: [+][+][+][+][+][+][+][+]

writing sample It was Saturday, oh sweet Saturday! Tea and Genevieve usually treated this day as an opportunity to sleep in as late as they could. They had nothing to worry about, no school and no work following their slumbers. However, Genevieve wasn’t exactly in the mood for such things. She had woken up early on this particular day (7:00 to be exact) to find that Saturday wasn’t for sleeping in; it was for carpe diem- ing! Seizing the day! The birds were chirping their merry little songs and the sun was shining through Genevieve’s window, kissing her cheeks as it crept across her face. When Gen slept in she never ever experienced this early morning magic that was appearing right before her eyes. She just had to share it with Tea, so Genevieve took the initiative to wake her up. Gen slowly but surely crept into Tea’s room only to find her face planted into her pillow with loud snores rising up from her unconscious body.
“Hey, Hey Tea! “ She postioned her face very closely to her guardian’s. “Hey you, hey Tea!” Genevieve started off in a whisper, but quickly her voice grew louder.
“HEY Tea!” Genevieve boomed into Tea’s ear. Now, by this time Genevieve had already erased the thought of sharing this magical moment as the moment was gone. Genevieve dwelled on this idea of ‘sharing’ some more and realized that, she didn’t really want to share, but it was more like she wanted to use this occasion to wake Tea up and ruin her day! It was all part of Genevieve’s plan for revenge. Oh how she wanted that certain little turtle from the pet store. Tea just didn’t understand the meaning of a turtles. ‘No Genevieve, I don’t want you to have any animal friends. Friends are for people’ it was basically what Tea had said…right? Well, it didn’t matter much because the word NO had caused enough pain.
There was a distant sound in the air. Was it the wind whistling through the trees, or a dog barking on the side of the street? Tea was in such a deep sleep that Genevieve’s erupting voice sounded like a far off cry in her dream. However, when this voice became louder and louder, Tea recognized it as Genevieve’s.
“What the!?@#” Tea bolted up out of bed expecting to find a crackling fire blocking off all exits of the apartment. Yet, to her surprise (or not), it was just sweet ol’ Genevieve standing innocently with a devious smile upon her white plastered lips.
“Oh, you’re up.” Genevieve shrugged as if she hadn’t expected Tea to wake up so early.
“You don’t look so good.” She cocked her head to the side as she forced a concerned look upon her face.
Damn right she didn’t look so good... What appeared to be a bird’s nest sitting on top of Tea’s head was actually her tussled mahogany locks. Not only that, but a dark cloud of eyeliner and mascara accumulated around her eyes giving her dark circles that had the appeal of a masked raccoon. Disgruntled, Tea blinked a few times and then rubbed her eyes, worsening the effect of the dark makeup. It was 7:15 on the dot and their ‘waking up’ time was scheduled for 11:30. Didn’t Genevieve care about tradition?
“What’s up Genevieve? Why are you up so early?” Tea slowly collapsed back down onto her bed with a yawn.
“I uh. Well, I had a bad dream.” She lied. “It was about that turtle, the one didn’t get me…remember?” Genevieve glared at Tea, oh how she wished she had laser vision, and then everyone would listen to her!
“Oh, I remember…” Tea closed her eyes, longing to find that delicious sleep that was oh so violently taken away from her.
“Well…Hey, are you listening?” Genevieve questioned with both hands firmly planted at her sides.
“Don’t worry, I’m listening.” Tea opened her eyes again with a bright sunshine smile pasted onto her lips. Why was Genevieve so into this turtle? It swam in its own filth, probably had salmonella and there was no doubt that it had been fished out of some grimy pond.
“Well, as I was saying. A large hand came out of the sky it was holding a…umm pen. Then the hand took the pen and held it over the turtle…and...and…I can’t continue any further, it’s too graphic.” Genevieve sighed; she knew Tea was a passionate writer, so by incorporating the pen she hoped that Tea got the point. By not letting Genevieve get the turtle, her guardian was killing the turtle!
“Wow, that’s some hardcore stuff.” Tea nodded as she spoke a soft sympathetic voice.
“You bet! I was so scared, so scared.” Genevieve tried to sniffle, but the end result sounded like a snort.
“Aww, come here.” Tea decided to participate in Genevieve’s little game, she wasn’t going to fall for her own child’s manipulating tricks! She opened her arms wide, inviting Genevieve in for a hug.
Genevieve gladly accepted this offer and ran into her guardian’s arms. “Does this mean I can get that turtle?”
“No, wouldn’t you rather get something that has fur?” Tea threw arms around Gen and asked, hoping that the answer would be ‘yes, a cat!’ she loooved cats.
“Like a weasel?”
“Maybe.”
“Ok.” That answer was good enough for Genevieve, she was beat. 7:00 was the devil. Genevieve rolled over onto the other side of Tea with a yawn. “Good morning.” She whispered before drifting off into a pleasant slumber.
