It was pretty good. Worth seeing, but also worth reading the story if you haven't yet. No gore. King made no appearance. However, the actors chosen to represent the characters were very good choices. The movie didn't scare me, but the people I was with said it had it's scary moments, so I'll go by them. I thought it stayed very true to the story, and what it did add for filler and plot substance was not a disappointment.

I happen to disagree. I thought it started out strong and the actors were amazing choices but I feel they changed the ending from the short story. I also feel the short story was better. I wish it would have been more haunted hotel and less of a character movie.

I absolutely loved it. Honestly I think it's one of the better horror movies that has come out for a long time. The only person I've talked to who disliked it was my brother-in-law's girlfriend, but she thinks Hostel was good so she doesn't count.

I was apprehensive about Samuel L at first, I'm not his biggest fan. But he did an amazing job, and it was well worth going to see twice.

First of all, it wasn't haunted, the room was alive and evil. Second, you can pull off a 60-page story without focusing much on characters, but with a feature-length film it's a little harder. I liked how they incorporated his family into his misery and horror in 1408. I also wish that he would've set himself on fire rather than the room, but I thought it was close enough. Either way, 1408 doesn't like its food cooked, and thus spit him out. I expected to be as disappointed as you seem to be, but I really did like it and felt it did the story justice.

actually...you're both wrong the room wasn't alive and evil either. read the syory again if you must. The room was either posessed or inhabited by a demon of some sort. But I digress... The movie was very good. it had a lot of the same plot but was extended quite a bit. they changed sveral things making it far diferent from the book while keeping the character of the story intact. I thought it Was a wonderful movie but hated th ending. I did not like the fact that they changed the ending. that is the one part i felt should never have been changed.
