Disturbed themselves have been around since 1998 when Steve "Fuzz" Kemak and Dan Donegan started the band. They recruited long time friend Mike Wengern and early in 1999 stummbled across David Draiman. The band's first real impact was their first single "Stupify" with twisted images of a kid trapped in an old abandoned insane asylum. But what really caught people's attention was the animalistic scream that David does at the start of Down with the Sickness. Their debut album The Sickness sold pretty well but people were not all that drawn in by their sound due to the fact that Marylin Manson was dominating that genre of music at the time with albums like Mechanical Animals. Although the band did high recognition for their follow up album Believe even though their first music video from the album was banned from all music stations due to the images resembling 9/11. But to fans the album lacked style and was way too intact with religious imagery throughout the entire album. The album was released in 2002 and sold multi Platinum outselling their debut album which only attained Gold status. Year 2003 and 2004 marked a change and break for the the band. From all the tours the band was involved in to then Steve "Fuzz" Kemak leaving the band in later of 2004. So without their bassist the band entered the studio and recruited John Moyer and recorded their third studio album titled Ten Thousand Fists released in 2005. The album while having strong ties to their root sound was filled with propagandous lyrics about President Bush and his administration as well as the music business and music labels. Also the album was a return to their old Sickness sound with a fusion of Believe sounds creating a completely new masterpiece that outsold both Believe and The Sickness in record sales within just the first week of its release.
