Just some articles I found about portion control and sizes :] Hope it's useful.

Also: Did you know that 75% of weight gain in America is due to oversized juice portions? One serving of juice is 8 fl. oz. and only 2-4 servings daily. It is easy to find cups // glasses made specifically for juice that are measured out to exactly 8 fl. oz., so either ask your parents to buy some if they haven't already (or buy them yourself if you're already moved out), or use a measuring cup to measure it out yourself. You can find juice glasses at Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, and many other major retail stores :]

I always measure stuff that says "1 cup" as a serving size with an average looking mug (no not the really big ones or the perfectly cylindrical ones that are a slight bit taller than the one I mean). I mean for almost everything that can fit in it. Am I using the right cup measurement or is there another type of cup that they mean? surprised

1 Cup means a 1 cup measure. Use the metal or plastic ones with dry ingredients, and the glass or plastic Pyrex ones with the pouring spout for liquids. Also, most liquids measure servings in ounces, and the liquid pyrex ones usually have an ounces measure, also.

the articles were very informative- interesting even!

i'm horrible myself with portion control. i've been better recently though-

i know i used to LOAD my plate up with all kinds of food, and eat it all. i would be so full afterwards.

i try now to not load it up so much, and take my time while eating. i have noticed that i don't eat as much, and feel more satisfied with what i've eaten
